The latest American thing to arrive on the shores of Brasil is something that most of us 20-30somethings have grown up eating: Taco Bell. Yes, the Bell has landed on the mean streets of São Paulo. Well, not so mean, since the locations are safely esconded in shopping malls here. As of now, there are 5 locations in São Paulo (with another one opening in Shopping Bourbon) and i've tried the Bell both here at the Paulista location and the Shopping Center Norte location
i personally haven't had a Taco Bell taco in over 10+ years, but when you've grown up eating these things, there comes a time when you do want to get one. Even more so living here the past five years LOL
Unlike the more expansive and crazy options at any American location, the Bells here have somewhat limited offerings. You can get the normal crunchy taco, Taco Supreme, Burrito Supreme, Quesadilla, Bean Burrito, Cheesy Beef Burrito, Crunchwrap Supreme and the XXL Grilled Stuft Burrito. Another notable difference here is that they don't have the hot sauce packets; instead, they ask you for which hot sauce you want and they put it in for you. The hot sauce itself is more watery than the original American version
Now, the important part: the taste. Since i only eat the crunchy taco, that's what i've ordered here. It seems pretty much the same as the US, so that was somewhat of a relief. i know growing up in LA that these aren't real tacos, but they are somewhat of a "comfort food" lol
The biggest problem here is the price. One crunchy taco here is R$6, which comes out to about $1.87. Whilst $1.87 isn't too much of a price increase to you Americans, R$6 for one measly taco is EXPENSIVE for Brasilians. i usually eat about 10 crunchy tacos (Del Taco), but with the prices here, 10 tacos are too much for my wallet
Honestly, i'm more of a Del Taco fan than the Bell, but i'm happy that i could get my fake taco fixings now read more
