i've long been a Johnny Rockets fan ever since i ate them whilst living in California. There's a…read morenotable trend here in São Paulo where well-known American brands and names are becoming a staple. Hell, i even saw a Staples store (albeit very small) in a shopping centre on Avenida Paulista just a few days ago. Last year, i noticed that Johnny Rockets made its way here and was dying to try it out... see whether the taste is the same as i remembered
One evening whilst looking around this particular mall, Johnny Rockets was making its opening debut here and there was some fanfare with the waiters dancing to music every so often. The good thing about the waiters is that they are super friendly and seemed to give off the same vibe as if you were in a JR back in the States (of course, with a slight Brasilian twist)
Sat down at the counter (since all the inside tables were already occupied) and i ordered the Spicy Houston without cheese. Almost promptly, my order was done and heading towards my table. i haven't had this quick of a service in a long time! i was super impressed with the speed of my food being done, but sadly, it lasted short
Whilst the food itself had no problem, the taste was subjectively a bit different to me. The buns aren't the same and the spicy sauce was a bit too creamy for me. The fries taste similiar to the ones from Burger King; again, nothing wrong in particular with that. The onion rings i ordered... again, nothing bad about them, but they weren't the same
There are too many times when i visit a particular American joint here in SP and leave a little bit disappointed that the taste wasn't 100% the same. i guess that this was the same deal for JR. Even more so when my meal was a bit over R$60 (around 20 bucks)
However, this was my own subjective impression for the food. Service, decor and overall atmosphere was the same as you'd expect from any JR
