Stopped by this location off I-20 in Sweetwater for a quick lunch. I ordered two Cantina Chicken Soft Tacos ($2.99 each) for my wife's aunt, requesting only chicken. The portion of meat provided was so minuscule it was almost comical (see photo). When I raised the issue, the employee noted that since I removed the other toppings, there wasn't much left. While technically true, removing lettuce and cheese shouldn't result in a nearly empty tortilla for $3. To the staff's credit, they were polite and provided a third taco for free to make up for it, which I appreciated. However, the standard protein portions here feel like a total rip-off. No human contact allowed. We chose to order inside. The staff stated "they can't place our order" even though they have two fully functional stations (with card reader) at the front. They told us to order from the kiosk. The kiosk did not allow us to order drinks. The staff also shouted from the kitchen they did not have fountain drinks. This is the only time in my life where a Taco Bell hAs made the perfect menu items. They looked better than the pictures. Never have I gotten a Mexican pizza that looked like someone took their time in placing the toppings on correctly where it looked perfect. We walked over from Allsup's because we were traveling with a horse trailer. You have to order at a self serve kiosk which we did but then had to wait 30 minutes for our food! The girls preparing food were talking and would stop while doing so, and then would say, we have to do drive thru orders before we can get yours done! It is always a 20 to 45 minute wait at this location. The reason is ALWAYS the same. We are short staffed. YET Skeets, Schlotzskys, Whataburger, Heffs, Golden Chick, Wendy's, Big Boys, and Bucks get your food faster. Why aren't they short staffed? Why can I SIT down at a restaurant and be heading home before I get out of a drive thru at Taco Bell?! Also be aware the inside is rarely open. This isn't so much a review as an explanation of the extended closure. Several months ago, this Taco Bell had a fire that originated in the kitchen, causing extensive damage. I see many cars pull in to the parking lot and there is no sign or notice explaining why the location is closed. The dining area appears undamaged from outside. I am not sure why they don't post a sign or why repairs have yet to begin. read more

Then I hear the lady say something like I dont know why I didnt help them..not like I (do/dont) have anything to do. She took care of a customer that came in after us and then left the counter to see her family that had just come in. Meanwhile more customers come in and wait while she goes to get something for the family baby. She takes her time getting the baby stuff before she serves those customers. She goes back to her family in the dining area when she finishes with the customers. Four more people come in, and she takes her time before leaving her family to handle the customers. So of course when our order came we checked it.... 2 combos and 2 alacart items. They hadn't even started it!!!!!! We got half of one Combo, 1 ala cart item and had to go point out to them that we hadn't received the other combo or ala cart item. They didn't come in a bag but one at a time. My husband stood at the counter and as they handed them to him I would open the wrappers to be sure it was the right food. It was the worst experience I've had at a Taco Bell. We are traveling from Denver to Austin and stopped at Taco Bell because it's quality is familiar to our large family. I ordered a power bowl and found a chicken bone in my food after biting in to it. When brought to the attention of the counter clerk, she got the shift manager who looked at me, said "That's a chicken bone." Then turned around and walked away. The man in line behind me looked shocked and suggested I do this survey. My daughter also brought it to their attention that the bathroom was in need of attention and was ignored, I'm guessing because she is 10. This was the best Taco Bell I've ever had. The tortillas were so soft and fresh. The location was right off my route and very easy to get to and get back onto my route. I really like Taco Bell. I know it's not authentic Mexican food but it's a great place to go for cheap tacos. you've got to love the value menu. Having said that, this T-Bell will give different experiences. I think the kitchen crew is completely switched out every other month so it seems like there is always someone new training. Service varies from having your food (correctly) before you can even get to the end of the counter, to having your order completely forgotten and then getting the wrong order all together. But most of the time things come out ok. Unless you have a really good manager I believe this type of thing is typical at this type of restaurant. The restaurant is frequently dirty and cluttered and you end up cleaning off your own table about 50% of the time. Even with these problems I will still go back because like I said its a good place to get cheap tacos. read more
