The Chalupa Supreme

First last and final visit 04/22/2022. Place a drive thru order a #6 with a freezer an additional taco, and fry a Doug 10:xx pm. Kesha, who pro claimed to be the manager... came to the window to address my complaint. As I stated to her, My chalupa which seem to have had some type of Greek like bread had "hair" in it, it was full of lettuce, sour cream on the inside and out which made everything cold and I wanted my money back. I GAVE HER THE FOOD and the exact change back and informed her my 15 yr old had already drink the freezer. She take what I gave her closed the window, then returned shortly to tell me ingredients were missing (items!) I repeatedly asked for my receipt multiple times. Again my 15 yr old started eating before I bit the chalupa with the hair in it! So the obviously struck an argument. She then kept my receipt and my change refusing to give me either and locked the window telling the other employees not to open the window... I could hear her yelling the entire time. So I call the police. She then walked out the restaurant and walked up to the front of my vehicle. Two officers showed up. Spoke with her, then spoke with me. The officer who in which gave me my change and receipt back and then informed me to return and speak with another manager or contact their corporate office. Then she attempted to LIE on me to the officer (who had to gave me back my change and receipt!!) about a $15 order. I hear and situation like this be never in my life experienced ghetto fast food behavior. Sadly I don't even eat here, lived the the neighborhood for 6 yrs. terrible experience unfortunately they where the closest and open this late!

the worst eating establishment ive ever eaten at. fuck the bitch that forgot my girls diablo sauce

We stuck to fish tacos since it was a Friday during lent, but they did not disappoint. The margaritas & mad dog were very good as well and I would highly recommend! I like the idea of the QR codes to order at the tables. It felt like it made the process a bit faster, but it was still a hospitable environment. Everyone was very friendly and we felt taken care of. There was a short wait on a Friday at 6pm, but it was well worth it.

I prefer the quesadillas with some of the more unique flavors, especially since the price point is very reasonable and you get a fair portion of food. Service: very good. They have QR codes at each table that you can order and pay straight from your phone, which is very convenient and the food always comes out pretty quickly. The staff here is always so nice. Ambience: the majority of the eating area is outdoors in a heated tent. It's a nice vibe and lets you feel like you're sitting outside without actually having to be outside. Parking isn't too bad here, there's a small parking lot right behind the restaurant and then there is typically ample street parking. It can get quite busy at peak times, but they have a great pick up option as well.

We had a few food trucks at my job, years ago. This one was the most popular, to the point where…read morewe've had them back a few times. We somehow managed to get them on Cinco de Mayo this year, a/k/a Cinco de Drinko--this despite the fact that Mexican food can be hard enough to come by on Cinco de Mayo that shots are sometimes fired. Were they not aware of the holiday? I'd suggest that there's no way that they wouldn't be, but I don't want to assume, what with this being 2026. Or is it one of those things where Cinco de Mayo is not a real holiday in Mexico? It might be the Mexican equivalent of Kwanzaa, invented by the CIA to get people shooting at each other down on Cherokee St, as a pretext for ICE raids. In addition to the free tacos, we were treated a performance by a mariachi band, Modelo, canned margaritas and churros from a local bakery. They spared no expense! Suffice it to say, it wasn't the most productive afternoon. Not that it would have been otherwise. Since I wasn't paying, I went with a "flight" of tacos, as if I were in Napa, one of each type: pollo, al pastor, lengua, asada and chorizo. I didn't do the thing where I tried a little bit of each and spit them in a bucket, but you're welcome to do that, if you're suffering from, er, surviving, an eating disorder. You could probably make use of a nearby potted plant, like Harvey Weinstein. Tacos are served on two small-ish corn tortillas that have been heated up on a griddle, like at an authentic taqueria. They come served with diced raw onion and cilantro, and they ask if that's alright with you, in case you're one of these people who think cilantro tastes like soap, or you're concerned that it can't really be washed and hence could lead to GI distress. I preferred the chicken and steak to the tongue, sausage and, erm, al pastor. All of it seems to have been warmed up on a griddle rather than cooked from raw, but the "dry" meats had nice bits of char. I didn't care for the texture of the al pastor and chorizo as much, though they were nicely seasoned. The tongue isn't as flavorful as regular ol' steak. As I recall, they were charging a premium for it, and I'm assuming that's just taking advantage of curiosity. Prices were written in dry erase marker, and they may have jacked everything up by a dollar for the occasion, which was fine with me. I was also upsold a tres leches cake, which was an excellent recommendation. It was premade and served a bit cold, but it tasted fresh. I found it odd that it was wet, like it had been left out in the proverbial rain in MacArthur Park, or maybe an unhoused person used it as a urinal, but it tasted good enough that it didn't matter. If that's not a testament to the culinary wizardry on display on this truck, I don't know what is.

Great sign to us that people love coming here. We ordered the chicken flautas, shrimp tacos, a barbacoa taco, elote in a cup, and a strawberry Agua fresca. The food was wonderful! My favorite was the chicken flautas. They were very crisp but the chicken inside was so moist. The toppings and the salsa was a wonderful addition. They really need to bottle and sell that salsa. It was some of the best we've had. I'm a non beef eater but my husband said the barbacoa was . He said it was hard to determine his favorite between that and the flautas but if he had to choose it's the barbacoa because it was juicy and very flavorful. It also held together well in the corn tortillas. He wished he ordered more than one. The strawberry Agua fresca was very tasty. It reminded me of a strawberry milkshake. The portions are so plentiful and the menu has so many choices. We are looking forward to trying new things. We were so full we didn't get to try desserts, as it is a Paleteria, but we will most definitely be back!

Certainly, I'd rather not go to a Chipotle, where you risk gastrointestinal distress in exchange for less food than they used to give you, for even more money; or Taco Bell, which actually costs more than Chipotle now, despite still being Taco Bell. Enter Abelardo's Mexican Fresh, which somehow (ostensibly) combines the quality of a fancy sit-down restaurant with the convenience of a fast-food restaurant. Not only do you not have to go inside to get your food, you couldn't go inside if you wanted to. There's probably an alarm that would trigger if you tried. There's all kinds of signs and stickers on the building's exterior warning of alarm systems and the restaurant's right to refuse service to anyone for any reason, Title IX notwithstanding. There's a little window where you can get out of your car and order, if you just have to. You don't have to worry, if you're wearing pajamas. It's not the kind of neighborhood where you're going to be judged for that sort of thing. The menu is entirely too extensive. But you get the sense that, as is the case with the aforementioned Taco Bell, it's all 1001 different combinations of the same few ingredients. You probably couldn't go wrong with just throwing a dart at the thing and seeing where it lands, unless you're Stevie Wonder, in which case you might put someone's eye out. I wanted to get a combination that had both a taco and a burrito, so I could try both items, but the only one I saw had ground beef in both. So I went with one that came with two carne asada burritos, refried beans and rice. I suppose I could have just ordered à la carte, but I wasn't feeling up to it emotionally. I noticed the bag, when they handed it to me, was surprisingly heavy, like they accidentally gave me someone else's order. I wasn't about to complain. This is a proper Mexican establishment, so there was no risk of there being anything gluten free or otherwise inappropriate for an adult male. But no, this was my order. It's just a lot of food. The two-burrito combination plate seems like it would be two small burritos instead of one large burrito (which seems stupid), but it's really two fairly large burritos. At $15 and some change, it might be the single most expensive thing on the menu, but it's not expensive in an absolute sense, by 2025 standards. This place packs great value. The carne asada wasn't the most high quality beef in the world, and it's a little bit dry, which I attribute both to how thoroughly it's cooked and how it's served. There's nothing in the burrito but meat, a few peppers and maybe a little pico. Presumably, this is a more authentic version of the dish, like a chili with no beans in it. It benefits from the hot sauce they give you with it, which is legitimately hot and redolent of actual peppers. The tortillas were similarly high quality and, if taste is any indication, not good for you. The refried beans were lacking in salt compared to the kind that come in a can, which are amongst my favorite things in the world, but that's probably more a testament to the utter savagery in which I was raised than anything else. Sitting in the drive thru, I was reminded of the Oreo cookie shakes I would get from the Jack in the Box that used to be here. If they could somehow put that on the menu, this would be the GOAT restaurant. As it is, it's not half bad.
