They did a great job. Only four stars bc the refried beans are made with white beans which was very unexpected and their salsa is verde (made with tomatillos?) instead of the traditional red tomato one. They should give you an option. Granted I didn't ask bc I wanted to see what the "standard" things are. Their chips are fresh and tastes like they make them in house. You have a choice of corn or flour tortillas with your meal. Plenty of cheese drip is included in almost every dish so if you prefer more traditional dishes (wout all the cheese) let them know. They took it out for us. We only had the chicken loko dish but that was good. Easy parking too. Solid 4

It's clearly a family run business with the daughters helping out front and a mom in the kitchen. The place is freshly painted, there are comfy padded booths, tasteful decorations, and unobtrusive latin reggaeton playing in the background. Service was very friendly and food could take slightly on the longer side but that's because everything is made to order. The moment we put our order in we could hear the kitchen (which was one lady) throwing stuff on the cooktop and working hard the whole time. Food: They served some complimentary chips and salsa which were very good. The chips are actually fresh fried still with the glistening oil on them. Likewise, we got a bunch of tacos and the tortilla shells were fresh fried and crispy which was amazing. Quesa birria - The birria has a very deep rich flavor almost like cabeza meat, it might be from the bone/marrow used in the stock but it has a almost game-y flavor I hadn't had before. The dipping broth was excellent and they serve it with sliced cucumber, radishes, grilled jalapeños and caramelized onions which was such an amazing touch. If you're not opposed to bold flavors I would recommend this. 4.5/5 Barbacoa taco - Not a saucy Barbacoa like Chipotle but equally as flavorful and tender. This will always be a safe bet if you just want a beefy taco that pairs great with their salsas. 4/5 Al pastor torta - My wife likes tortas more than me but I will say the Al pastor is great. They do not skimp on the caramelized pineapple chunks and the pork has a nice coating of that smoky savory achiote seasoning. The torta itself is balanced in terms of the lettuce, beans, and tomato. The bread tastes home made with a slightly chewy texture. 4.5/5 Horchata - It's creamy and rich but not too sweet and generally mild on the cinnamon, all around enjoyable. They give you a giant mason jar of it too which is like 900 ml! 4.5/5 Special mention to the salsas which are just plain great. The hot salsa is like a roasted jalapeño salsa with a smokey kick from either pasilla or guajillo chiles. The green salsa is just perfectly balanced with a gentle savory and tangy flavor that enhances whatever you put in on. Overall I seriously enjoyed Fridas. It is not fancy or innovative but if you're looking for a family-run hole-in-the-wall business serving authentic and filling food, I would strongly recommend giving this place a try. Just for reference, we got two entrees, an horchata, and a la carte taco for $40 (pre-tip) and were stuffed for the rest of the day.

The tortillas had that authentic flavor and texture you just don't get from chain restaurants, and the meat was flavorful, well-seasoned, and packed into every taco. The green salsa was the star of the show for me. Creamy, slightly spicy, and absolutely addictive. I found myself putting it on every bite. The fresh cilantro, onions, and generous lime wedges brought everything together perfectly. Simple ingredients done right. Beyond the food, I loved the atmosphere. It's part taqueria, part Mexican market, which always feels like a good sign when you're looking for authentic food. No frills, no gimmicks, just great food and a steady stream of customers who clearly know where to find the good stuff. If you're in Indianapolis and craving authentic street-style tacos, this place deserves a spot on your list. I'll definitely be back for more tacos and to explore more of the menu. Worth the stop. I really wanted to try something mixed, but the worker said it was mostly either or. I really thought there would be more fusion options, but on the menu - the left side was Indian dishes and the right side was Mexican dishes. We did order a chicken tikka taco (sort of Indian/mexican infused) and then decided on butter chicken in medium. For the taco, you can get corn or flour tortilla and we forgot to specify, but thankfully it came out on corn. The butter chicken came with rice and naan (I forgot to ask if I could make it garlic naan) so it comes with regular. For a drink, I got the mango lassi which is like a mango smoothie with yogurt and milk, and he got a mango jarrrito. Our meal came up to about $30, and we decided to dine in. I got my mango lassi very quickly, it was really smooth and creamy texture, very milky mango tasting. I liked it, but my husband didn't care for it. The jarrito has a bottle cap, and on the wall, there is a bottle opener. I didn't even notice it but my husband did, it's unique and convenient. It took about 15ish mins or so to get our food, we like that it's made fresh and was brought to our table. He gave us extra plates as we were sharing our order. The tikka taco was bland, didn't really have much flavor. He gave us two sauces, one green and one red (he said the red is spicy) and even with that it was just ok. It was however very filled. The regular naan was good, especially when I dipped it in the butter chicken sauce. As for the butter chicken, it was decent. We got it in medium spice and it wasn't very spicy to me. The rice paired well with the butter chicken. The food was enough for both of us to share and be full, plus we had leftovers. The inside was quiet, it wasn't busy when we came. They have tables and booths for dining in. They also offer drive thru service. The inside appeared clean. They have 2 restrooms towards the back of the restaurant, one for men and one for women. The women's restroom didn't have any toilet paper.

I always order the poblano chili relleno to see how well it's done. The salsa and guacamole are also great and are also usually an indicator of what one might expect. We ordered the deluxe loaded spicy burrito, a chicken enchilada, ground beef taco and refried beans. Everything was fresh, well prepared and hot. They offered plenty of food as well. The only thing I can fault is the guacamole needed a bit more salt and the spicy burrito wasn't hot/spicy at all. This restaurant is close to my home and I will definitely go again. Suggestion and extra side note : They are multitudes better than the cringeworthy swill taco joint in the same area next to Duncan Donuts and behind CVS.
