La Morita's Meat Market is a hidden gem! I primarily shop the market for authentic Mexican beef and…read morechicken fajita meat. The meat is pre-seasoned, always fresh, delicious, and priced wonderfully. Do not be intimidated by the possible language barrier. The employees will figure out what you need! In the Morgan City area, this is definitely my favorite place to eat! It is a tienda mexicana as…read morewell as a restaurante mexicana. I go there for the restaurant, but they have a fantastic meat market, and they have cheeses from all over Latin America. The food is authentic Mexican cuisine. Delicious, and mostly healthy! I believe it is the healthiest place to eat in the area. I often get their sopes, tacos, or... can't remember what it is called! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! Sorry... Well, the last time I went there I got one of their enchilada dishes, and, holy guacamole!! They were the best enchiladas I have ever graced my mouth with! Moving along... there is a language barrier. I speak pretty decent Spanish, so it ain't no thang to me. If it is a problem for you, well, they came up with a brilliant solution! These vatos no son idiotos! The menu is posted in pictures on the wall. Their menu is ginormous. The selection is out of this world! Or, at least, beyond our country's borders? Anywho... At times you will see the cook running to the produce section of the market to get fresh veggies for the dish you just ordered. It is great. And, the variety of hot sauces they make will blow you away! They do about 6 different sauces, only some of them are presented on a given day. On occasion, they are all available. There is some drawback here... Sometimes the wait is longer than desired. At times this is completely reasonable as the place gets packed like sardines. But... there is also a time, here and there, where the place is empty, and it takes 20 or soooo minutes to get your food. If you are worried about this, order 2 tacos de lengua with your meal, and they will come out before the rest of your food! Enjoy!

The enchiladas are alright the beans are surprisingly good so is the rice. The queso blanco is actually fire. It isn't the best tex-mex food i've had but it's not the worst.
