The Al Pastor was very dry and hard, overcooked and dry. The carnitas are tiny minced pieces of pork, also quite dry with no seasoning or flavor despite adding salt, lime juice, and salsa. When we got our bill, they had charged us $13.33 when they were advertised at $12.99. When questioned about the price difference, the restaurant adds 4% to the cost of each item, not 4% of the total amount as is normal to be deducted at the end. Food was flavorless and dry. With the additional cost added to each food item and the lack of seasoning or taste is a sure sign we won't be going back.

Servers will come by and tousle his hair, say hello, wave to him, they are just genuinely so sweet and kind; it makes our day. And they are busy too! So it means even more that they make the time to treat us like family. The food is some of the best in the area, the place is always busy, and who doesn't love a margarita? This embarrassing process continued until the manager came over and offered to replace the dish. The fajitas veggies were well past cooked and were slimy. The beer bottles were cool but not cold. Service was terrible! No siding of table or removal of beer bottles or dishes until we left. There were 9 guests in the restaurant and I counted 18 employees. I did not understand why they could not clean our table off. Employees were leaning and talking. It's pretty obvious the profit was not an obligation to this business. Ambience was OK if you want to be in a big restaurant with lots of light and look more like an employee stand around meeting without regard to their customers. Long and short, this is one of the worst dining experiences I've had in years and I will not go back, and I would recommend that somebody think long and hard before they give this organization any dollars.

Being retired, I am on a mission to experience all 66 businesses listed inside the Illinois 66 Passport. I'm experiencing the ones close to home first and then I'll work my way up to Chicago. Teri's use to be in the Route 66 Antique Mall, but now it's in downtown G City. The new location is spacious and has a minimalistic decor. There's plenty of vinyl records and Route 66 signs covering the walls. After looking the menu over, I opted for an early lunch over a late breakfast. Seeing a Jalapeño Burger on the menu, is what pushed me towards lunch. The burger came with a side of crinkle fries. The fries were extra crispy with a hot soft insides. The burger was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a smash or a thin prepackaged burger. When my burger was served, it was a thick hand pressed burger. It covered the entire bun and the Pepper Jack Cheese draped over the edges. The jalapeños were plentiful and paired well with the onions, too. I give the burger a solid A for presentation and flavor. Teri's and Granite City is not a short drive for me, but it was and is worth the drive. If you're in G. City and getting hangry, give Teri's a try.
