Rude Business, Rude Patrons, and an Unpleasant Stench From the moment I walked in, I should've trusted my nose--there was a strong stench that set the tone for everything that followed. The male customers were shockingly rude, walking straight into my space as if I were invisible, expecting me to move out of their way. When I approached an open register, I politely asked the cashier if she was available. Instead of a simple answer, she huffed, rolled her eyes, and made it clear my presence was an inconvenience. That was it for me. I put everything back and walked out. I had planned to return with family and friends, but that changed quickly. It was my first time driving 20 miles to try Taaza and I totally enjoyed it. It's more spacious and organized than Patel Bros but I think I made a mistake coming at 5pm on a Saturday. It was totally packed! I parked very far away but I like to walk. I also got the second to last available shopping cart! I found every ingredient we needed for our first attempt to make daal! We also tried prepared veggie samosas, veggie biryani, some other triangular veggie appetizer thingies, chicken biryani and some interesting daal. Everything was very well seasoned and delicious and very affordable! Best of all, since I was clearly out of place and a bit lost, several kind shoppers went out of their way to help. Plus, all the staff were helpful and several asked if I was enjoying the shopping experience. I did! We have a ton of food tonight and everything came with chutney, raita and other sauces that are delicious but I don't know the name! I read the reviews of others and understand immediately why few people called the food "Spicy" in the cafe area. Please understand that the target audience for the cafe are the "Indian Sub-Continent" resident who are craving authentic South Indian food OR who have immigrated to Tampa quite recently. The food HAS to be spicy. We don't like it any other way. I started coming to Taaza Mart because of Indian Grocery items. Which they have in great variety. The produce are fresh and the butcher (Mustafa) is great and very friendly. We were pleasantly surprised by the cafe and the roti area. Every week we get couple of roti packets and couple of curries from the cafe. If my wife plans to cook, she picks up meat or produce. They also have a robust return policy. If you want to experience authentic South Indian food, give them a whirl. But please be warned, the food will be spicy. read more

I would give ZERO STARS if possible: I had an extremely disappointing experience today. We had gone at 1pm to specifically eat dosas (my son was home from college & was craving it) and were told the "dosa is not ready" and will be ready in maybe 30 minutes. We repeatedly kept checking, asking and were told it will be ready in 15 minutes, then 20 minutes, the staff is eating & will make after ... then after 2 HOURS of waiting & thousand excuses, we were told that there are catering orders & the kitchen staff is too busy so no dosas until evening (if that). We just left, what a colossal waste of time! Why couldn't the staff just say that in the beginning instead of playing games? They have big signs posted everywhere saying no carts in the cafe, couldn't they have posted signs saying "SORRY, KITCHEN IS CLOSED TODAY." Absolutely ridiculous & unprofessional. Wow, envision yourself in a supermarket in Bombay, and your right there in the TM. Every type of snack, canned good, cookie, frozen food, and produce that comes from India can be found in this store, I loaded up on some frozen appetizers that I like, some great cashew cookies, and bags of snacks that I enjoy. They also have a cafeteria style restaurant, and fresh bakery. The only real downside is when it is crowded (like when I was there) the only way to get to the check out counter is a incredibly long line that snakes all the way past the frozen food area which also makes it very hard to get to the items in the cases, since people are standing with their shopping carts in front of them. read more

I visited Tazza Mart recently and was extremely disappointed with the experience. While they advertised that there was no limit on chapatis, there was no clear information on how many chapatis a single customer could actually take. This lack of transparency was frustrating. When I asked for 5 packets of chapatis, the staff were unexpectedly rude and unprofessional, which only added to the unpleasant experience. Clear communication and courteous customer service are basic expectations, and unfortunately, Tazza Mart fell short on both. I went to tazza mart yesterday and they said there was a notice but I didn't see any kind of notice. They false advertised that I was stupid to not see a notice. All I saw was a no carts parking notice. Clearly they try to make customer fools but they should put a sign that says limit per customer for the chapatis. I saw they were making more chapatis in the back and I know they were doing this tactic. I had an event going on aswell and didn't know about this preorder situation because the last time I took chapatis, nobody said anything. Clearly they are false advertising that they had a notice but no notice was posted or a phone number to preorder. Even if I call their general phone number they still will say we have another phone number to preorder but they don't have that number displayed anywhere. Ran in to grab a Masala Dosa. I was excited to finally try it out. Every employee ignored me as I stood in line. As it was my turn to order the employee walked away and the other at the register had to call someone to take me as 3 more people joined me on line. I placed my order as the employee didn't say one word to me. I paid and he flipped the screen so fast that they didn't even give me an option to tip. I waited over 20 mins for my number to be called. I watched another order from in front of me her their Dosa and I was excited to receive mine. Their Dosa was huge and looked like it had tons of food in it. I got mine to go as I needed to rush home so not sure if they barely gave me any food because it was an to go order or if it was because they didn't like my face. When I got home and opened my food I was floored at how little food I actually got. The Masala Dosa was delicious had great flavor and I wish that I would have actually gotten a right amount to my food. I am glad that I got to try it but I am disappointed in the experience and the lack of food in my Dosa. I'm glad that I didn't advice my spouse that we would share this for dinner because we would have been starving. YOGA FLAME! Taaza is an Indian grocery now located in the now defunct Staples in the BJ Wholesale plaza. It makes me chuckle that they put existing letters on the distinctive red facade. The store is generally clean and well stocked with spices, produce, poultry, teas, namkeens (savory snacks). It has a cafe where they serves snacks and full meals along with certain breads/baked goods. Unlike Patel Bros, you can actually walk in the aisles without walking sideways. The aisles are well labeled. It has many of the same brands and items as Patel though there are some different ones here and there. One product I would recommend is Tea India's Massala Chai tea. It is around $6 and has 72 tea bags. It is in a red square box. (Just use two tea bags and microwave for 2.5 minutes if you have a 1100Watt microwave. Then add sugar/cream. You're welcome) Cafe: I have tried the chilli chicken dish from here. It is pretty flavorful with a good amount of meat. (It does not come with rice or any other starch/bread though) 4/5 In the cafe, they seem to have a different biriyanis on different days. On a Sunday, they had Mutton Biriyani for $14. It was great but had the bones on it so be careful. 4/5 Cons: One time my mom got Onion Pakora there and the cafe employee only gave the broken fragments that were left over and refused to give her whole ones. Authentic Ethnic Cuisine #62. Indian Cuisine. This cafe is located in the Grocery store. It has it seating area and business location. The place is clean. What I like about is they have the wash hand area if you decide traditional way use your hand to eat. There is a water station for you. We started with the chicken wing drums stick. It was delicious. We also got the lamb chop. The meat was process and it is not tough to bite. The meat still present some pink area which is great technique to keep the chop delicious. We also got the veggies curry puff. It was delicious too. My friend got the dosa. It has potatoes inside. It also come with curry soup to dip. It look very decent. Lastly is the mutton biryanis. The mutton is soft and good curry surround it. The rice is perfect. The food may have prepared in one tone of spicy level. I actually like it that way. It is indian food after all. read more

I almost laughed after reading the sign near checkout that stated there are NO RETURNS OF ANY KIND due to Covid. What? Also, the floors weren't the cleanest (ex. dry food items spilled in aisles & no one performing a clean up), & there were too many stock boxes lying around because shelves were being stocked during business hours-- although the boxes were at times lying empty in aisles not currently being stocked. A BIG KUDOS goes out to stocker "Reddy," who took at least 10 min to show me what spices I'll need in order to cook most Indian dishes, where to find them, & how to use them. Truly an EXCELLENT representative of this Indian grocery! Thanks to him, I bought much more than I had originally intended, & I'm more likely to return. (I only went in to browse after shopping next door & spotting this market.) Located in Market Square in Tampa Palms beside Petsmart, this grocery is open daily from 10 AM till 9 PM; however, the Cafe is closed on Mondays. Its hours are 11:30 AM till 9 PM Tuesday thru Sunday. In this market, you'll find fresh fruits & vegetables; halal meat; bakery items made on site; buriyani; appetizers; frozen foods; grocery items; many grains, spices (SO many) & sauces; & just about anything an Indian family might want from a grocery store...including lots & lots of rices & incense:) This is a decent-sized grocery that has wide aisles & a high ceiling. It reminded me of a small Costco or Sam's Club. There was a nice selection of fresh produce too well hidden in the back behind tall freezer cases (where you'll find the frozen Naan/Nan). The cold section is to the far right. The Cafe with tables & a large TV is located on the far left (see pic). Each aisle in this store is marked w/ an overhead sign; the food items appear to be decently organized. Check out is easy. There are two old registers behind plexiglass; however, the registers appear rather new... & quite nice-- each grocery item rung up by the cashier appears in bold print on the screen so customers can easily see how much they're being charged. Horrendous is the only was to describe my experience as the restaurant staff and the roti station is ridiculous. These people landed in the US and never left India it seems as manners and customer service as definitely not their forte. This coupled with the arrogance of the owners and restricting how much bread "roti" you can purchase is absolutely a nail in the coffin for these idiots. Honestly, I question their hygiene on everything in this store, especially the kitchen and the roti making area as the staff looks clueless on what "hygiene" really means. Tazaa Mart is really the best hidden gem that no one knows about. The grocery store carries everything you need and has a wide variety for vegetables as well as halal meats. However, the section we fell in love is their food court. Their indochine food is really good and we also love their biryanis and curries. The chicken biyrani is our favorite because not only does it have the mixed rice, but also a whole chicken thigh and drumstick hidden underneath it all! And your also get an egg on top of everything. It's really flavorful and is definitely worth the $10! The goat/mutton curry is also our favorite! The meat is so tender and fall off the bone. The flavors are amazing. They do not cheap out: the staff will put as much as possible into the container without even having to ask if you can have some more. They also have made to order dosas and naans -- these are great pairings to whatever dish you order from here! read more

Saw this store when dropping my kids off at the bounce house next door and had to come in. Stocked with so many spices, unique vegetables,foods, frozen foods meats and their cafe menu looks amazing. This place was packed with people enjoying their meals and buying the items needed to make their Indian dishes. Allot of the foods in the cafe were things I've never heard of and it all looked and smelled wonderful. If there's a recipe I'd like to try and make. Coming here for the ingredients makes sense. Prices all seemed reasonable and there was so much to choose from. Service was quick and to see so many people eating from the cafe, you just know your going in for a good meal. The inside was very spacious and stocked with never ending goodies. There was a good variety of the basic offerings of spices, frozen foods, rice, teas, etc. The prices were pretty good too I look forward to returning. I was asked if I needed assistance by one of the workers when I was exploring the aisles. My favorite part was the cafe area! There were fresh dessert selections, a hot bar, and a menu to order off of. They have the full breakfast spread and the masala dosa was delicious! It was huge! More than half of it was sticking out the bag since I took it to go, I ordered it crispy which I didn't realize meant it would be deep fried. I wasn't used to or expecting that texture but it was still very good. The sambar was good but the chutney was a little off for me. Not a place for puri cholay breakfast. Whole wheat roti like puri and there's no tray, no aloo tarkari, no achar, no halwa with it. It's a South Indian dosa kinda place, so if you're craving Karachi style puri chole breakfast, this ain't it. They don't have kababs either. Some chicken curries. Biryanis are short cut dum biryani which is hit and miss, sometimes it's just white rice with zero masala. We need Houston style Pakistani/ Indian food in Tampa Bay. It's very mediocre food here. We came to check out the grocery selections and more importantly the food. The cafe has pastry, food and drink selections which all looked fantastic. We choose to do a combo platter with chicken lollipops, mango dhal, paneer curry, a potato/masala dosa, roti and rice, everything was really good but the show stopper was definitely the paneer curry. I dont know what they put in it to make it soo good, ive had this dish at a bunch of other places but hot dang this one was finished within minutes of eating. We other grabbed some indian snacks, bread and vegetables. They have a very nice selection of fresh vegetables and some fruits. I will be coming back for the paneer curry! This is probably the cleanest indian grocery store out there. It is spacious and rivals a true grocery store, like Publix, for Indian and south asian/middle eastern foods. There is also a little cafeteria where you can eat or take home rotis and a wide variety of other curries, appetizers, and desserts. They have just about everything that Patel brothers has, but the one thing that is lacking in comparison is the fresh vegetables. For fresh veggies I 100% recommend going to Patel brothers, but this place is not bad. I did notice a lot of fleas around the potatoes and onions on two consecutive trips, so now I just avoid buying any veggies from there. It is mainly the packaged foods, rice, flour, and other bulk stable indian foods I get from them. Prices are fantastic too. I actually think they're cheaper than Patel. Also, it is easy to socially distance while shopping here which is not possible at Patel. read more

Great new Indian grocer in New Tampa! The ethnic chips and snacks are cool, spicy if you're into that. I usually hit up the little fast casual restaurant they have in the back. This is the chicken combo. $9. Chicken tikka masala, dal, rice, and naan. Spicier than some other places in town, so I guess it's authentic? Not from there so wouldn't know. Store appears clean and spacious as you enter and also stock is fine. Vegetables are stale. Dry goods are fine. The workers are rude and run their carts in to you. They don't give personal space. To order in the cafeteria you have to leave your shopping cart outside the cafeteria which is really inconvenient. The taste and quality of food at the cafeteria is inconsistent. Prices are high. Taaza Mart is MASSIVE! I haven't been to an Indian grocery store that actually allows for more than 2 customers to browse an aisle at one time. Taaza mart has ample space for several customers to be in a single aisle at one time. There are so many options for each item you are shopping for. Whether you are looking for lentils, rice, or savory chai time snacks, the varieties are endless. Aside from their dry goods, they have a large produce section. Although I was not able to check it out for myself, they also offer a meat market and a cafeteria inside. The only downside is that the lines are a bit long. New Tampa could always do with more indian grocery stores. This one is a great one to check out! read more

What an awesome Indian Supermarket filled with Indian groceries and dining options. If you need spices, curry powders, etc that you can only find in Indian markets, this is the place to visit. Not only can you get the groceries you need, but you can also eat a buffet or take out delicious Indian food. I had the Mutton Biriyani, Samosa Chat, Chicken and Egg puff, Dosha, and Gobi Muchurian. All were delicious! The food was a bit spicy so beware and I preferred the egg over the chicken puff. I definitely plan to visit more often to shop for my Indian items not found in other grocery stores. read more

My first visit to this place. The store is large, spacious and clean. Pricing is more expensive compare to other Indian grocery stores. Long wait for check out. Customer is horrendous and rude. I purchased serval items during my visit, 2 of which were two jars of grape leaves with price sticker of $2.99. The cashier scanned them and the price came up at $3.99. I told him the price is $2.99 and that there's many more of the shelf with the same price sticker. He insists on telling me that he does not know how the price sticker got in there and that he has to go by what it's scans up on his system. No apologies for their obvious mistake.
