It's hidden down a quiet courtyard, right in the middle of the city but completely away from the noise and bustle. Totally one of those "if you know, you know" kind of places. The atmosphere here is just magical -- rustic, romantic, and old-fashioned in the best way. Even though we were seated outside in chilly weather, it still felt cozy and inviting. You could tell this was one of those restaurants that lives and breathes its history. Now, the food -- We ordered the duck breast with red porto jus and gratin dauphinois, and the beef stew. The gratin was so good -- creamy, cheesy, and perfectly comforting. The duck, though, was a bit of a letdown -- quite tough and hard to chew, which was disappointing because the sauce was lovely. The beef stew, on the other hand, came out piping hot (just how I like it!) and was hearty and flavorful, though a tad on the sweet side for my taste. Still, it was delicious overall. Service was great -- friendly, attentive, and never hovering. Everything felt relaxed and unpretentious. Our bill came to just under $100 USD, which I thought was very reasonable for the quality, setting, and experience. If you're wandering around Antwerp and want to escape the crowds while enjoying a cozy, candlelit meal in a spot full of old-world charm, this is the place to go.

This place, as the name suggests, serves primarily soup. However, given the wonderful-- and by wonderful, I mean cold and rainy-- weather that happens quite a bit in Belgium, you cannot put a price on good soup. This place offers fresh, daily-made soups in all different flavors. For about 6 euros, you get a delicious bowl of soup, with some bread and butter and an apple. You can't beat that price, given how good it is. Moreover, at the end of the day, the owner freezes the left overs and you can buy about two servings (1L I believe) for 6 euros and take it home with you. I bought two of these for when I was out of town for a week, and my boyfriend was so happy to have a great meal without having to cook. The flavors are also diverse: I've had aubergine (eggplant) soup, cheesy cauliflower soup and pumpkin butternut (I believe) and all of them have been AMAZING. The location is also easy to get to, not too far from the city center and it's quite a cute restaurant. They also have coffees and teas, so you can enjoy your lunch, then just sit, hang out and have a drink. Enjoy!

Luckily this location was open. The food is handmade fresh to order. The tofu carpaccio was packed with authentic flavors and spices.
