We had a nite off from our riverboat cruise so thought we'd try Le Steak 17. Small, cozy place. Our server offered our group of 7 two tables pushed together near the front, explaining that the back was hotter since that's where they cook the steaks on the Big Green Egg (her English was very good). The server lugged out a very heavy rack of beers and even heavier rack of wine bottles for our perusal. Drinks chosen, we were presented with a vocal list of appetizers...meatballs, Camembert cheese, bone marrow and steak tartar. We chose the tartar. It was abundant and excellent. The dinner "menu" consisted of a large board with the 6 or 7 cuts of steak available. (They did offer a veggie burger for our lone vegetarian) Most steaks are offered at a 300g portion, but the tomahawk and porterhouse were huuuge. Steaks and temperatures were selected. They came out promptly, properly cooked and delicious. They were accompanied by group salads, fries, baked beans, roasted squash and a peppercorn sauce for the steaks. Desserts were offered but everyone was stuffed. Overall, well worth experiencing, but maybe go on a cool day...

I had the menu and started with the carpaccio which was delicious. Next came la brochette de bœuf and it was amazing. I like my steak on the rare side and they prepared it and seasoned exactly as I like it. I find that many times restaurants over cook their beef. Last came the créme brûlée and my wife and I both agree it was the best we've ever had. The prices are on the high side but at L'Effet Boeuf you get what you pay for!

The menu was both in English and French, and our waitress spoke a little bit of English as well. The meal I ordered was an appetizer of lobster raviolis in a shellfish sauce, and my entree was a steak and onion kabob with a 3-cheese sauce. I enjoyed it a lot. My one problem with this place was how wildly overpriced the food was. For my appetizer, I received 3 lobster raviolis and it cost 16 Euros. The steak and onion kabob, while delicious, was almost 30 Euros. Including my meal and my girlfriend's, plus we both had a glass of wine, it came out to 98 Euros for lunch. That is the only bad part about it. If you don't mind forking over some money, this is a very nice place to eat.
