Hired them to do a bathroom remodel and partial kitchen remodel. These guys were terrible and charged me over $15 thousand dollars more than their estimate! They rotates people coming to do the work and one guy who change or redo what the guy before him did. But I'd get charged for all their man hours including the time to fix their mistakes. I tried talking to Tyler and his foreman and both just told me what I wanted to hear, then continued doing the exact same thing. After the work was done, they asked what I thought and I pointed out multiple flaws in their workmanship and problems that needed to be corrected. They said they would be back the next day and never came back or returned phone calls. These people promise the world in the beginning at a low price, then do shoddy work for much more than their estimate. Don't be fooled like me! read more

We had basement flooring and trim done throughout our finished basement and a new room door put in. The guys showed up exactly when they were scheduled. Work took 4 days which made me happy they did not rush through the job like some contractors do double booking stuff and disappearing for days, the 2 guys who did the job were nice and did an amazing job we couldn't be happier! Communication with the project manager was super easy and he responded right away anytime I had a question. Any time I asked about something they were one step ahead and already doing what I asked about so it was very hands off and not having to worry that what you asked to have done with certain things would not happen, no micromanaging as the client needed. I also like that Taylor and Tyler both came out at the end of the project to inspect everything entirely and make sure it was done as I expected, really nice having me sign off on everything so I know they care how the job turned out. I have had so many different issues with different contractors over the years not communicating or lying or not showing up, TMac is a breath of fresh air, they treat each project and client with the respect it deserves I will use them in the future for sure! read more

We had them do a full bathroom renovation done and some things did not go right which we were disappointed with. They didn't put a mortar bed under our shower pan or some other material for support so now it flexes and creaks loudly. The spackle is uneven with indentations and some screw heads showing through and wasn't sanded properly. The shower drain connection wasn't secured correctly which led to a leak in our living room ceiling. They fixed it and patched the ceiling but now we need to repaint the whole ceiling to cover the patch work. They cut a hole in our bedroom wall to adjust the shower valve without talking to me about it beforehand and bought paint to try to match our bedroom ceiling wall which they didn't need to do as we had leftover paint for our bedroom if they had just asked us. They didn't remove enough of the old uneven subfloor in the bathroom area even after I pointed it out to their employees and now the new laminate floor flexes up and down when it should be flat and level on a solid base. We had to repaint the bathroom ceiling because their employee only put 1 coat of paint or primer on it. Not a big deal but was more work that i felt we shouldn't have had to do. They new bathroom door doesn't seem to have been installed correctly because we just had some humid weather and it was sticking so much the top part of the veneer on the door started to come apart. I had to sand the door frame area so that we didn't have to jam the door closed. There is some missing caulk around the top of the shower surround where it meets the walls on either end. We were without a toilet for 11 straight days and only have one bathroom. We were told up front that the new toilet could be set in place by end of the first week. The job went almost $10K over the initial contract largely because the employee assigned to our job was too young and inexperienced in my personal opinion to run a full reno job on his own and it drew out the project for too long and cost us far more in labor than it should have. We had no tile work done and yet this job took almost 4-1/2 weeks to gut a bathroom/closet area. We were expecting it to be done in 3 weeks time even with updating the plumbing in the bathroom. The owner didn't come back to do a final walkthrough after he told us he would. Possibly because he had some personal things going on but we were disappointed that no follow up occurred at the time. We requested some money back after fulfilling our financial obligation. I don't see this happening but to be fair he has reached out to us and shown willingness to correct some things which is appreciated. They obviously have satisfied customers in the area with a number of positive reviews. If these things had all been corrected before the job was finished, I really wouldn't have any complaints. At this point we hope to just get the shower base corrected to stop the creaking since it's the area of most concern. In all fairness and objectivity, our bathroom & closet area is far better now than the dated 1960s/70s look we had before but the finish work just wasn't up to our standards for how much we ended up paying. I assume some of it isn't up to the owners standards either but he wasn't the one doing the job. What i've learned through the renovation process is to be insistent and adamant in telling a contractor what you want or if you see something not being done the way you want it and don't be afraid to ask questions and express concerns. When you're paying a lot of $$ make sure you get things done the way you want before the job is finished. it will save yourself and the contractor a lot of headache and less frustration or hard feelings. read more

If you're looking for a great contractor Tyler and his crew are top notch. Tyler was quick to come to my home and give me an estimate on wind and tree damage to my roof and gutter. He communicated with me on each phase of the repairs and made sure my roof was sealed so I would not have water damage. He found a boot that had cracked on my roof vent and he took a video of it and some other spots on my roof. His crew came and replaced my gutter and cleaned up left nothing behind. He reached out to make sure I was satisfied with the work. I can honestly say I have never hired a better company excellent work and communication. read more

**WARNING TO HOMEBUILDERS: AVOID THIS CONTRACTOR** My husband and I had the misfortune of trusting TYLER MACDONALD of T. MAC BUILDERS for our home building project. TYLER was an absolute NIGHTMARE to try to work with, dragging out our plans for over TWO YEARS. The entire process was a complete waste of time and money from start to finish. First, we were told we had to pay for blueprints to be drawn up before any steps could be taken. We gave TYLER a large sum of money to create what we were told would be blueprints. We were told that these blueprints could be taken to any contractor to be used if we so wished. All we ever received from TYLER was just a schematic of the house we had hoped to build, never actual blueprints. Second, where our property is located, we were required to have a special driveway permit. We needed this permit before any construction could begin. TYLER was supposed to fill out the paperwork and file with our township. It was only supposed to take 30 days to issue this permit. We, again, paid a large sum of money to TYLER for this permit. For SIX MONTHS we heard nothing from the township. After many calls and trying to track down the status of our application, we found out TYLER never filed the paperwork. We then gathered all of our documents and submitted the application ourselves, where we discovered the application was only $25 dollars to file, not the amount that we paid TYLER. It was a scam. Throughout this 2+ year ordeal, TYLER dodged our phone calls and text messages. He was impossible to get a hold of and when we finally did get a response, he gave so many excuses as to why he could not meet with us. He refused to ever sit down with us to discuss progress. We never signed a contract, which I am now thankful for. Twice I asked for our money back. I just wanted to recoup what my husband and I lost, so we could move forward with another company. TYLER did not have the decency to do right by us. So, we went to court. TYLER would not pay us back for the "blueprints" because he now claims we didn't pay for blueprints, we paid for a "home design plan". We were awarded the overpayment for the driveway permit, but we lost all of the money we spent on "blueprints" which could not be used by any other contractor. TYLER still refuses to pay what the court awarded us. Save yourself the headache and steer clear of TYLER MACDONALD of T. MAC BUILDERS. His incompetence, poor communication, and dishonest practices make him unfit for business. He has a reputation for doing this to others. have no knowledge of Demo/Renovation. I took Mr. Macdonald's advice for this project that he said would last two weeks, seven weeks later the bathroom project is incomplete. He took advantage of me and violated the contract by not giving me a functioning bathroom. I signed the contract on May 7th, 2022, on June 23rd, 2022, he came and picked up all his tools. The 19" vanity that he told me to purchase doesn't fit as you can see in the pictures. I've never seen any plans for the bathroom renovation, he started on the bathroom without proper planning. The first problem was the shower insert we picked out didn't fit. The depth was 36" for the insert, but only then did he measure the space and realized he had 30" available. At this point I met with Mr. Macdonald, and I suggested to push the back wall of the shower into the spare bedroom and make the bathroom bigger. He told me that would be too much work and would take too long. He then suggested to tile the shower but informed me he would not be able to stay under the budget. At this point he never gave me and updated estimate on what the cost would be for the shower to be tiled. Trusting his opinion, I agreed to have the shower tiled. After six weeks into the bathroom project, he tried to install the 19" vanity he told me to purchase, only to find out there's only 29" from the shower wall to the wall where the vanity would be mounted which would only leave 10" of space to walk through to get to the toilet. He then suggested pushing the wall into the dining room 18" so the vanity would fit and making more room into the bathroom. At this point of the bathroom project, he realized he did not plan properly with the measurements and told me he would no longer charge me for the labor, but I would have to pay for the drywall and lumber to finish the project. At this point nothing was resolved, I decided to file a consumer complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General to give him the opportunity to resolve the issue. He never responded to the complaint and now I'm in small claims court trying to resolve the issue. Update: The judge ruled in my favor. read more

We had hired T-Mac builders to do a demo and full renovation on the inside of a house that meant the world to me. It was my parent's house who recently passed. Tyler is a great talker.. he'll tell you he can do everything. You don't need anyone else because his team can do it all...but once we got close to budget and after a few questionable things we had let him go. We were told we were ready for drywall at this point. We decided to bring in a new contractor, new plumber, and new electrician to give us a quote to finish and all of them said the work tmac did had to be redone! It would not pass inspection.. thankfully our plumber took out all the plumbing they had installed to replace it bc it was riddled with holes since the screws they used to put down the subfloor were too long and they missed half the studs. Nothing is level and instead of cutting the wood that they used to frame out a room to the proper length they used shims (which yes I know shims help, but not when you use a good solid 1/2 to 3/4 inch of shims packed out in between a framed wall and ceiling.) The subfloor was so uneven we were told we couldn't use the snap together vinyl flooring we wanted because it would buckle unless we fixed the sub floor. We paid for a bay window and French doors that we didn't get. It's been a disaster and disappointment. I thought I did my research on finding a good contractor in the area. After going through all of this I have been researching and found a few people who have complained, and Tyler's responses always seem to point the finger back on the customer but I have documented this project every step of the way.
