The owners are very sweet and I have to commend the male owner for his knowledge in the pet food department. My dog Lilly couldn't settle on a kibble that didn't disturb her stomach and he took so much time to explain the options to me. Really appreciated it! Overall though, it's reallllllly expensive. The clothing for a dog size small is one piece of felt and they charge like $30+ for it. So I don't come as often as I'd like. But great store, friendly, always clean :)

If I lived in the Flemington area, Barkley's would be my go to source for all my pets needs. Hands down! The owner (Andy) is more than just an engaged proprietor -- he is a knowledgeable dog aficionado -- and his well behaved pets roam the store while you shop and make the experience that much more personal. I was amazed by the sheer volume of his stock of super premium and premium products (including everything I use) -- at prices comparable to what it costs me online. Barkley's also supports the local economy by stocking food and products made locally, and organically. My dog loved the place -- he played nicely with Andy's two boys -- earning him a fresh bag of Australian venison treats. There is something organic about a small business like Barkley's in a small town like Flemington that suits me. It is more than just the Americana vibe (that I love); it is also the commitment of the business to do its level best by the customers, human and canine. I like that.

Regrettably, I have to agree with many of the comments made by Roma P…read more Although Hope is ostensibly experienced in grooming-related matters, her demeanor can be very off putting and condescending. She played the "hematoma" card with my wife, as well, and went so far as to send her multiple texts in ALL CAPS, which scared my wife into thinking something was very wrong with our dog. She was so rattled that she called me, nearly in tears, worried that he had a serious medical issue. After being subjected to Hope's ranting and raving, we took our puppy to the veterinarian as she suggested, and they basically laughed in my wife's face and told us it was no big deal and simply trimmed his fur to address the situation. End of story. When it was time for our next appointment, we considered whether to take him to her again or to you someone else. I encouraged my wife to try Hope again. Stupid decision on my part. Although we thought it was impossible, she again sent my wife texts complaining about his matting and sending multiple pics (not sure why this was necessary because we know what our own dog looks like). The nail in the coffin was when my wife went to pick up our puppy and HOPE ACTUALLY TRIED TO HAND MY WIFE A BAG OF HIS FUR to prove how much fur she had to cut off due to the matting issue that she took such pleasure in pointing out. We will not be returning. It is not worth the mental anguish.

TL;DR: Poor customer service, dismissive communication, and inconsistent standards. I'd rather…read morecommute back to Brooklyn--where veterans of color and their pets are actually valued--than deal with this again. --- I used Kayla's grooming services before for my two miniature golden doodles, and when I moved back to the area, I figured I'd return to a place I had previously trusted. After enough frustrating experiences at PetSmart, I decided I'd rather spend extra for consistency, quality care, and to support a fellow veteran-owned small business. Unfortunately, this experience was anything but that. When I called, the person who answered seemed dismissive from the start. I explained who I was and mentioned my one prior visit about a year and a half ago. She asked for my availability, and I told her I was flexible--whenever they had space. She seemed irritated that I didn't use their online portal, but with two dogs, it's often easier to coordinate schedules over the phone. I was upfront about my dogs being a bit fluffier than usual and possibly matted due to a hectic winter, a move, and being a college veteran student managing limited funds. I made it clear I was completely fine with a low cut. That's when the conversation took a turn. She immediately told me they would not be seen due to matting. On top of that, she claimed that during their last visit--over a year and a half ago--my dogs were "problematic." This was the first time I had ever heard that. When I picked them up back in 2024, I distinctly remember Kayla speaking positively about their behavior. If there were concerns, why weren't they communicated then? And more importantly, why ask for my availability at all if you had already decided not to service my dogs? The inconsistency and lack of transparency were frustrating. On top of that, the phone rang endlessly before being answered, and my first call was actually disconnected, forcing me to call back just to speak with someone. For a business that prides itself on quality service, the customer experience felt like an afterthought. I work hard for my money and for my dogs, and I choose to spend it at places that respect both. Choosing to bring your pet here feels like a gamble--you may get great grooming, but you may not get basic respect or clear communication. Lastly, during my first visit, I wasn't aware they offered a veterans discount. When I mentioned that I was a 14-year Army Special Operations veteran, there was no effort made to acknowledge or adjust the pricing. At the end of the day, I'd rather take my time and money back to Brooklyn, where I know veterans of color--and their pets--are treated with the respect and value they deserve.

When he came to my apartment to meet my little guy, he came with with a PowerPoint presentation of his services and a copy of his insurance. A member of his team watched Jasper for a long weekend and I was thrilled with the service and attention to detail. When I came back, my cat was happy as could be and was obviously taken very well care of. It's obvious that this isn't just a business for Kyle and his team, they are passionate about animals and what they do. Thanks Kyle and the team at Simply Yours Concierge! NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION…read more We have been a customer with Kyle since 2019. We have had normal walker issues like high turn over and inability to handle XL breeds etc but typically there was always a prompt and reasonable solution. Unfortunately, I can no longer endorse this service. We recently went on our honeymoon and booked overnight sitting and dog walking for 8 days. Sadly our pets were not taken care of to the level that we expect. Our show dog was allowed to overeat and was overweight and lethargic upon our return; the other two dogs were very skinny--apparently one dog got to eat and the others did not. They were also sick & given food that was not part of their diet which gave them severe diarrhea. Believe it or not, this really isn't the core of the issue. Read on you'll be glad you did. When we got home our house was left absolutely filthy by the overnight sitter. The foyer rugs were chewed up due to the dogs being left unsupervised (instructions required them to be crated when not actively watched) Again, not the worst of the offenses. Upon removing the destroyed rugs I find a pool of urine under the rugs. Upon the initial inspection of the guest room where the walker was permitted to sleep the guest bed was DEFECATED on. The feces filled sheets were thrown into our washer! Later on when we go to clean the bed we discover that the bed was also URINATED on destroying a brand new mattress. Fast forward to our conversation with Kyle (owner) he says he will make amends and pay for the cleaning. I send him a bill for the cost of professional cleaning, the property damage etc. He refunds $39. Total cost of property damage approximately $664. He then proceeds to try to haggle to pay for same to include our previously included 10% discount (we receive and always have received that due to the volume of services) with a week worth of walking services. We decline the services because well, our confidence was severely shaken. When we asked for the full refund for the items we had to replace & provided proof of purchase he went radio silent. At this point we have had to dispute the credit card charges with our bank and reasonably only asking for a refund for the damage. If that fails we will be forced to open a small claims action in court which is going to cost us more in court expenses and aggravation & him a ton more in legal fees then just resolving this amicably. But again we are forced to take these measures since he has absconded.
