Background: Needed to have 3 outdoor outlets installed but the wires had no power so I did a look up for electricians in Fleming Island and found QUICK ELECTRIC SERVICE. I prefer to use small, local businesses as much as possible and this family owned and operated company, just down the street from my house was perfect. Razvan and his son Nicholas were right on time, polite and knowledgeable. Called on Friday to set an appt. and they had availability at 1030 on Monday. After some small discussion on what I was intending to use the plugs for e.g. one will be plugged in full time for my Goldfish pond waterfall. They made a recommendation and traced the old wires getting nice outdoor weather proof outlets on their own 15 and 20 Amp circuits installed within an hour or so after a quick trip to Home Depot to make sure what they installed matched everything else. Small example of how I could see how much price they take in their work to go and get matching stuff rather than throw in whatever they had in the van. Once that was finished I asked if they could take a look at my daughter's room because one switched controlled the power to ALL of her wall outlets and the fan. Razvan identified multiple issues and troubleshot everything while Nicholas explained what he was doing and how this or that worked. I'm aware that some jobs might seem simple before the techs start the work and sometimes things are unknown until they're in the process of doing the work. However to not be able to give a general price to replace three dimmer switches! They fail to see that times are hard for nearly everyone and people have to prepare more than ever especially with the high cost of products/, etc. They could always have a disclaimer that it's just a quote and the actual cost or actual price may vary and won't be provided until after either inspection and/or repair. I'm providing this rating by seeing the astronomical horrible reviews and also my telephone experience with their customer service/scheduling department not being able to give me a quote but will charge me a fee for a quote when they can tax write off the gas and time of their employee coming out. These companies know they can do that but are ripping people off left and right. Reviews matter and it's disappointing that they've changed for the worse it appears than when we were referred to them by a well known Church/School on the westside by I-10. So I turned to Yelp and landed on Advanced Electric of North Florida. Brice responded within 30 minutes of my request for service, and this was on the weekend. He arranged for service on Monday consisting of hanging 7 different light fixtures, a fan and four dimmer switches. Jamal and Jamal showed up on time, worked straight through to lunch and did a great job. They were polite, thoughtful and responded to our requests. The cost hit pretty much what I figured it would based on their rates and we were very satisfied. On a wholly different but related note. As a Black man I usually hope for evidence of diversity in the workforce of any company I hire. I appreciate that Advanced Electric hires and promotes young men of color in a field that is dominated by white men. For me this is essential and I wish more companies were like Advanced Electric.
