10/9/20 When I lived in Switzerland on and off for 5 years,…read moreI remember driving by this hotel and didn't think to much about the hotel till I saw The Tintin Promotional specials they were doing. This trigger the memories of reading some of the Tintin novels. I then remembered this is the very hotel Tintin stayed at in the book: The Calculus Affair.  This is the favorite hotel of Professor Calculus whenever he stays in Geneva. I went into this hotel once to check out the Tintin merchandise that was sold here at one time. The hotel had large poster of Tintin in the window. Does anyone remember that? I saw different bowels and plates that were sold in a 7 part series at a souvenir shop. I saw the 6th in the series and a few of the others in the series. I did have much money since I just finished high and was starting spring semester in college soon. Otherwise I would have bought some. Nevertheless, my mom and maybe with my dad went to this hotel too. My mom presented me with 7th bowl and plate in the series. It is one of the most memorable gifts I own since my mom passed away. I still own the bowl, but the plate I suspect was broken by a family member (who will remain nameless) who won't admit to anything wrong doing he does:( The plate is gone and so is he as far as living with us, so it all works out:) Still the bowl will always remind me of this hotel, my mom and the time I spent in Geneva Switzerland. Should I ever revisit Geneva Switzerland, I will want to stay here at this hotel with my wife. I just got off the phone with one of the employees. There seems to be a very small place to get some souvenirs, but a majority of the souvenirs/gifts will be better spent a shop/mall. Still, I am glad to have owned one of the Tintin Bowls and Plates in French hand writing while this Hotel had its Tintin promotion going. I came find the rest of the series now, but I will keep looking.

It's been updated on the inside and features everything you'd expect for a hotel in this price range. Checking in and out is easy thanks to good customer service. Staff is friendly and explains everything you need to know. Rooms are clean, new, and comfortable, and the free WiFi is fast. Best of all is the location. You're close to several shops, restaurants, and anything else you're looking for as a tourist. And best of all, you are literally just steps from the closest train station and 10 minutes from the airport. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend anyone else the same.

Toilet had its own little separate room. Nespresso machine and free water bottles was nice. Staff was friendly, ample lobby with a little play area for the kids, a restaurant and a breakfast area. Didnt do the hotel breakfast because was a bit on the expenside side, but similarly priced to other swiss hotels. Great location, within walking distance from the bahnhof, the promenade and plenty of restaurants. Would stay here again.

Price is very high but in a closer distance to the train station. There are a lot of public transport options. If you are in the middle of deciding between Novotel airport and this one, for commute perspective, this is the best. The neighborhood is good with a lot of restaurants in walking distance and also a grocery store nearby. There is a shopping complex with Mugros, Decathlon in a walking distance. The rooms are not that specious for a people of 4, especially additinal beds provided, not a great setup. The shower has a good water flow and hot. All other accessories like iron, hair dryer, everything was handy. The room was maintained every day, and the new towels are kept, which is great. One good thing about this hotel is the buffet, They have a huge buffet. But the eggs look very bad. Hummus tasted excellent. We enjoyed the buffet doing our stay here. The staff is friendly. The air condition in the room sucks. It's not a great value for the money, but for the location, you get the benefit. But nit worth the money you pay.

Overcrowded, hot, hardly any free weights that match, one bench - overcrowded, nowhere to deadlift even if they had enough weights to do it. Old dirty equipment. Just terrible. I travel a lot and go to gyms most days, this is by far the worst I have ever visited in terms of price:standard.

No bubble bath or jacuzzi, but in the end it is a fitness club not a spa or a wellness club ;-) Very large choice of (mostly recent but older as well) work out machines and weights of quality and well maintained . I had to go to another gym for some time because I needed someone to keep my daughter during my training sessions and came back to this gym as soon as I could: - Price is cheap (i.e. in comparison the wellness club with daycare for my daughter was 250€/month O.O) - It is a real FITness club with emphasis on machines (large selection of movements, quality of machines), and not on running mills. - 24/7 - friendly atmosphere with staff giving advices when you ask or when they see you do things wrong, where people do not judge or look at each other. - cloakroom clean and tidy, not used as a storage place for irrelevant tools or apparels. - free access to TRX training and modular training room. Cons: Air conditioned could be worth the investment for really hot Summers.

This is likely a result of the clientèle they regularly serve. The United Nations offices, Red Cross and WHO are very close by, so there are large numbers of dignitaries staying in the hotel on a regular basis. This also means a very secure environment that caters to people of varying nationalities. The TV channel selection, for example, reflects this. Be sure to visit the hallway with photos of some of the well-known people who've stayed at the hotel, which was first opened in 1964. We certainly had one of the lower end rooms, facing west toward some local housing (and a co-op) vs. overlooking Lake Geneva in the distance. Incidentally, the co-op has some decent ready-to-eat food selections... so if you don't want a sit-down meal, it might be a good place to visit. Other than the hotel restaurant, there are only a few good places to eat within easy walking distance of the hotel. Our room was spacious by European standards, and there was beautiful lighting, extra seating, and desk space. A room safe and minibar are part of the package. The king bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed, with an expansive deep bathtub and wonderful large bath towels. The toiletries were a rather exclusive brand and had a great unisex scent. We only had breakfast in the restaurant, but it, too, was outstanding. Both buffet and menu selections were available. Servers were competent and sincerely nice. We especially enjoyed our interactions with Sarah. The hostess was wonderful as well. This hotel had many amenities that we didn't use, like a pool and sauna. Be sure to look these up ahead of time so you bring what you need.

Lots of thoughts about this place - both good and bad. I figured it was easier to list:…read more Good: - the bartenders and staff at check in were extremely friendly, and wonderful to talk to. - at check in, the staff provided us with a free public transportation card and a map for us to get all around the city. - They have a pool, sauna and hot tub - which I assume many hotels in the city don't have. This area was very clean. - Hotel was centrally located to a lot of things and very easy to get to from public transportation. - They had a safe in the room - the first hotel in our two weeks in Europe to offer one. Not So Good: - the rooms were extremely cramped and small. We were told we got upgraded to a 'club room' but I can't imagine what the smaller version would have looked like. - There was a very weird/gross smell coming from the shower throughout our entire stay - like moldy. - The hot tub was not at all hot. Kind of cold actually. - Shower water didn't stay hot for more than a few minutes. We had to keep increasing the temperature but had to cut our showers short if we didn't want cold water. - The elevator in the lobby could not have been smaller. My boyfriend and I and our two bags couldn't fit in it together. My bag and I could barely fit in it together. - There was no AC so the room felt very hot. We tried to cold it down but it was so loud outside. We couldn't decide sweating and being hot versus trying to fall asleep with how loud it was outside. - The noise. The noise from the street was crazy, coming from someone who sleeps with earplugs every night it was still so loud. It was like we were on the street. - We didn't know before we got there that Pâquis is considered the red light district. We didn't feel unsafe, but there were hookers visible from the hotel. So that was kinda weird. - Finally, the shower situation. The shower had glass walls and was located in the middle of the room by separated by a curtain. I was staying with my boyfriend, so i didn't necessarily mind, but had I been staying with a parent or friend I would not have felt comfortable with how visible it was.
