I just arrived at Sztuczka and unfortunately the odor in the restaurant is almost unbearable. It hit me as soon as i walked in. I feel grease in the air and the smell is terrible. I am sitting here wishing this meal were already over. I ordered a Greek wine which is excellent. The service so far is very good but the smell is awful and I am seated in a far corner away from the kitchen. I am actually getting a headache from the smell and I can imagine my clothes will smell until I get them dry cleaned. The server just brought the amuse bouche and it was excellent. Very savory and tasty but as soon as I finish I breathe this very smelly air. It's really bad. Visually the dining room is lovely. Very sophisticated and the lighting is lovely. The music...smooth jazz. And yes, I have a headache from the smell and I never get headaches. The second amuse bouche came and failed miserably. The flavors were not good together at all. Think Miracle Whip and chocolate. The smell of the room is overpowering this entire experience. I just put on my mask to see if that would help and it does...very little. This is not a good experience. The octopus starter just arrived and it is entirely too large. The octopus is cooked well but the concept of the dish misses. Cubed deep fried potatoes with chorizo, which is overpowering and tomatoes. Too greasy..:.It's just not right. It has an unpleasant after taste. This chef is trying to be creative and just does not have a skilled hand in combining flavors. Two nights ago I ate at the White Rabbit at the Château and Relais property Quadrille here in Gydnia and that meal was perfection. I am still finishing my review for them. This restaurant is missing the mark and, sorry to say this again, the smell is completely unacceptable. The air is very sour. I was just brought a palate cleanser. A granité of black currants, citrus and coriander. I do not taste the coriander at all. It is refreshing but nothing special. It does get rid of the after taste of the octopus so there it succeeds. Some of you may think I am over reacting to the smell. I am
not. This is intense. I can't wait for this meal to be over. What a shame. The server just brought the beef duet and it too fails. The beef is too salty and I love salt. The sweet potato puree with the potato sausage was just wrong. I took two bites and that was it. The poor tastes coupled with the
unbearable odor of the dining room made it so bad that I just needed to leave. And yes, my clothes smell...they smell terrible. This was not a good dining experience and I really wanted it to be. Chef please first take care of the ventilation and the rethink your flavor profiles. read more
