I came here years ago and it was not a good experience because the dr refused to give me a shot,…read moreinstead saying I needed to get an MRI and yeah ruined my Christmas and a vacation blah blah. Anyway again as I'm now prone to getting calcium deposits, they have a technical name but I just call them that lol. I started with one in my right elbow, then 2 in my left elbow, doing an MRI after the 2nd time since that's the time to do an MRI after it pops up twice in the same spot. Anyway it's more common in the shoulder and I joked that'll be next. Skip ahead months later and bam shoulder is killing me. I get a massage, still pain, realized it was probably one of those pesky little deposits and ran over here. I was seen right away, and got a nice shot after confirming yup calcium deposit. I will probably end up getting an MRI in the future just to check as I did with my elbow but it's nice for the time being to be out of pain and able to enjoy my weekend. Getting a shot is not fun btw, it gave me a nice anxiety spike the next day and some anger mixed with my wacky hormones lol. But at least I can sleep peacefully and able to use my arm so hey I'll deal with it. I was in and out. I came here hoping for right away care, a solution and I got it. Much better experience this time around, compared to saying hey go somewhere else right before the holidays knowing I wouldn't get in anywhere that quickly years ago. So now I'd recommend this place or maybe the dr this time was just better and since I haven't had any injuries I most likely have no real actual damage to omg need an MRI. It's just a common thing that happens to happen to me lol. Some are prone to these things and I'm sure they'll pop up again one day. I'm hoping I never need a shot again or need to come here at least for a few years. I'll for sure be sending anyone I know to come here if anyone I know gets hurt. I'd highly recommend if you need a walk in place. I mean most specialty doctors can't even see you for weeks so it's nice we even have a place like this.

They have the best doctors and physical therapist. When I go there i feel like I'm royalty.read more

Island Spine and Sports in Hicksville is a solid medical office with great, real and caring Docs…read moreand staff. This great team is still functioning, welcoming, treating and helping patients get better during the current pandemic. 1) The appointment process was seamless, thorough and perfect. My mother was referred to Dr Richard Obedian, Orthopedic Surgeon here by our Chiropractor. They called her immediately, got her insurance info and made a 12:30 pm appointment. 2) They stressed and absolutely ensured our Covid related health status, symptoms etc and required us to wear masks. Loved that! The office was also set up with 2 big chairs in front of the desk to create that 6 feet plus space. 3) Got a great warm welcome. Did not wait long and Mom was taken in for x rays and then the exam room. 4) The entire staff from the front desk( Hailey, Robin and Maria) to the RN Lauren to Dylan the great PA were warm, really looked out for her and were on the ball. 5) Doc Obedian was fantastic as was Dr Daniel Feldman the Pain Mgmt Doc. The latter took his time with Mom going over her MRI and broke everything down in simple terms geared specifically towards her condition. He listened and made some great recommendations to assist with her path to recovery. The common thread - they really cared for her. 6) The communication via phone was great. Dylan and Lauren called back to check up on her and advised re the change in her prescriptions. 7) The office was sanitized all the time. 8) They were on the ball with ordering the MRI, calling in the prescriptions. My mother is doing better. I Thank God and and I really want to recognize this amazing office for truly taking care of and healing human beings with love, warmth and their superior expertise. I highly recommend Island Sports and Spine.

Except for the doctors' assistants, Lauren and Teresa, who are excellent and caring, my experience…read morewith Drs. Sonstein and Obedian was negative. My recovery after surgery has been much more difficult, painful, and prolonged than I was led to expect. If you've ever experienced nerve pain, you know how intense and unrelenting it can be, which made the lack of empathy and impersonal treatment by them that much more disappointing. Dr. Sonstein arrived at my hospital room the day after my surgery, to do his first and only post-op visit. In between talking to someone else on his cell phone, he quickly told us that he was very rushed--never a good thing when your job requires precision and care--and that he couldn't stay "more than a minute". He visually examined my incision (no more than a few seconds) and then quickly left the room (all while still on a phone call, obviously distracted). In the full year since my surgery, I have not heard from him, not even once, to ask about my recovery or if the pain meds were working. What a disappointing and shabby way to treat a patient. Clearly, my spinal surgery meant nothing more than a metric to him. Dr. Obedian was somewhat better, although he too was distracted on his cell phone during the first post-op hospital visit, and he too left the room quickly with no chance for a conversation. In my follow-up visits to his office it was clear to me that he was not familiar with my current pain management regime, and he and his PA twice prescribed pain and nerve medication that we had previously ruled out. I can't tell whether the surgery was successful. My lifestyle is still adversely impacted by pain (albeit, less pain than before) and limitations on my daily activities. Perhaps that improvement means that the surgery was as good as they had hoped for (or maybe even better), or perhaps it was substandard. I simply don't know.
