First of all, how lucky am I that this studio opened down the street from my house!? Secondly, from…read morethe moment I met Hilary (the owner/primary instructor), I truly felt welcome - she cared about my input on her classes and times before I ever started attending them! When she first opened, all of the weekday barre classes were in the morning between 10:00 and 12:15 which is when I am usually working. I happened to stop by on a Monday to talk to her about putting an after-5 barre class and ended up staying for aerial hammock that night. While it is cool, aerial is very difficult for me but watching Hilary do her thing was fun enough! The next day, I saw that Hilary already created a 5:30 PM barre class on Wednesdays so I signed up for the first one the next day! Today, I attended hot yoga with Eric R. since he attended barre with me last week. Luckily, hot yoga is not as hot as my one awful bikram experience several years ago in Vegas, so I did not have any severe reactions. I also started private reformer sessions with Hilary. She really knows how the muscles interconnect and how to improve my core to reduce lower back pain. I also think her prices are very reasonable. She is significantly very affordable at $60 per hour/$35 per half hour. Her mat classes are $15 drop-in. There are slight discounts for buying 8 classes. Aerial classes are $10 for a half hour. This is a welcome addition to Manhappiness!

Hosted a bachelorette party in town and wanted to try something different that we could all laugh…read moreabout, did a private Ariel class and 10/10 recommend. Me and the group of girls are NOT pilates people, we would rather hang out and play drinking games, but the instructor made it super easy to laugh and have fun rather than a hard workout. If you're needing something to try out definitely recommend the Ariel class!

Joined this Health Club in March worked out a few times and enjoyed it then I was called away for…read morebusiness. While away my emergency contact (EC) was contacted by the manager no less and considered a sales lead. The manager had taken her name off my profile and called her to come in under my recommendation for free trial work outs. My EC because my family is three hours north of Topeka happens to be my 68 yr old landlady who could contact my family if something happened. She's retired and one gin martini away from a nap about 8 hours of the day everyday. When I confronted the manager about the incident and told her how tacky it was I heard a thud as another employee got thrown under the bus, as she passed blame. Anyone play ball? (STRIKE ONE!! - lie) Needless to say I called my landlord who saves everything including the olive cocktail spears from those martini's and asked her to play the Genesis message to which I heard the managers voice. Then I called the manager who said oh I was just getting ready to call you back. (STEEEERIKE TWO!!-lie) I told her it was in fact her who called. She told me my EC must have gotten into her lead list by mistake. (STEEEERIKE THREE!! - lie and YOU'RE OUT!!) She did assure me though she would talk to the staff about this, so I was of course somewhat relieved. Because I wasn't a member that long, when I received a survey I felt it only fair to mark everything as neutral with the exception of the sales call to my EC so that was a four on staff. On the same call which was actually the purpose with the Genesis manager she tried to give me a guilt trip because I rated most of the survey questions as a 5 based on the 1-10 scale. I told her I hadn't been a member that long and it wouldn't be fair to give them all 10's when my attendance at McDonalds is higher than it is at Genesis currently. (You gonna finish those fries?) I find the facility to be nice, however there was no explanation on how to use any of the machines so I have to watch others and with all the mirrors I look like an intrusive overweight middle aged creeper begging for pepper spray in the parking lot. The staff seems stressed and I get the feeling it's because it's a high pressure sales environment. One day I went in and this poor kid at the front desk asked me if I knew of anyone else that I could bring in to work out because he needed to get more members in. I said no and don't call my emergency contact the manager already did, and it is 2 p.m. she's probably wasted by now. Things might improve if I ever get back in to work out, I tore my MCL stepping off the curb at KFC so once I recover I'll see how things go. It might be better for you this has just been my experience.

Just finished the Kansas Senior games in pickleball. The courts were filthy, some courts brighter…read morethan others. The portable nets were very loose although within regulation height. Unfortunately the young lady running the event did not have pickleball experience. Placing a number 1 or 2 behind each score sheet would let players know who would serve first not playing rock, paper scissors. I felt bad for guys who travelled the first day to play two games and be sent home. The second day was run much smoother under different rules. Everyone played more games. All in all still a fun place to play. Genesis you need to have chairs in your front lobby that don't look like you got them from a second hand store. Plenty of parking. Bathrooms kept clean.
