I have never been to a salt cave before so this was a unique experience for me. I called and…read moretalked to Wendy before coming and asked her some questions to prepare for my experience. This salt spa uses the MindBody app so you can book your session on there. There are quiet sessions, casual sessions (with more light to read magazines and have light chatter), salty lunch (short time on a lunch break), salty kids (a children's session), and yoga on Wednesday nights. The spa is open every day except Tuesdays, so I came in on Sunday to try it out in the afternoon. It is $30 for a 45 minute session. Wendy greeted me and showed me around. In the salt room, there are Himalayan salt rocks on the ground like a beach, beach chairs, blankets, and cool salt decor on the walls. Wendy put on Tibetan music and told me how the fine salt would come out of the sconce in the wall for 45 minutes. I was by myself for this casual session, and mostly rested on a blanket on the salt beach. It was very relaxing. I think it would be fun to come back with Eric R., and he might like the yoga in the salt room too. After my session, I spoke more with Wendy and her husband Scott. She explained the benefits of salt therapy and why they opened the first salt room in the state of Kansas. It is a really cool place to have in our little city. Give it a try and you can be salty too!

A regular session typically includes sitting back in our zero gravity chairs or lie directly in he salt and relax and breathe. Other services include craniosacral, yoga and mindfulness workshops!

Everything is constantly crowded with people that don't know what they're doing and swarms of frats. It's become almost worse than the overcrowding of the kstate rec. the locker rooms constantly smell now and you can barely use most things. Very sad that I'm spending $70+ a month just for genesis to give away memberships and overcrowd the gyms. Won't be staying if this isn't fixed.

This is very evident in how utterly disgusting the locker room has been recently, both in odor and appearance. It's also evident in etiquette, I realize it's difficult to enforce at a public gym, however I find myself being reluctant to go due to how rude the gym goers here are attempting to use multiple popular machines and in the treatment of the facilities. There's no care whatsoever for machines as they're frequently broken and left that way for months and it makes it very difficult to get an entire set in. I do not recommend this location, WITH a student discount it is still nearly $80 a month, and every month this cost becomes less justifiable. Very disappointing

It has…read moreparking reserved at all times for any KSU permit holder except on football game days when those spots are rented out. The Rec Center has its share of weight and cardio machines, free weights, nice locker rooms, and dual entrances. It also has a combatives room, four studios for classes, a private gym for personal training, a rock climbing wall, outdoor equipment rental, a challenge course for leadership development and group bonding, a smoothie cafe, 2 tracks, plenty of courts - pretty much anything one needs to work out. I have been trying out the different classes, getting a feel for the different offerings. Everyone teaching courses is certified in the course area. There are courses focusing on mind & body, cycling, aerobics, cardio, abs - so many options. There are even aquatics-based courses. However, to be a member of the gym for non-students costs one amount, but joining the natatorium has another fee. I have the gym-only membership. Thus far, I have taken all-levels yoga, yogalates, PiYo, and Zumba. The classes are all challenging and intense, and garner a good amount of attendees regardless of the day of the week. There are even classes on weekends. I plan to try as many as I can to vary my work out. To bring a guest only costs $5, so I can have Eric R. join me when he wants to use the gym instead of the local trails. The hours are really good as the center is open most of the day every day.

There are non-traditional students that pay the same fees and attend the same classes; however, it would be hard to tell. The campus is all about this "family" that is wildcats. That "family," can leave you feeling left out and uncared for as a student if you were not raised within a 5-100 mile radius of Manhattan, KS. This campus is swimming with students that have yet to nor will they ever experience what the real world is like. There is a lack of culture and diversity in this small, western, Middle-America town. Some of us do not bleed purple, as a result, will be left on the outskirts of what feels like a neighborhood bonfire that you were not invited to. That being said, there is nothing that can be done about inconsiderate youth here. The real tangible things that can be changed, never will. This university uses its finances to build/purchase/change unnecessary things. What was wrong with the student union? Why would you eliminate study space? The Student Union was perfectly fine and there were plenty of places to study, with tables. Now, this "fancy" Student Union is filled with chairs and what feels like four tables. Where can I spread out my notes and books in order to study? Am I supposed to study in my own lap? Inconvenient to say the least. Fix Willard Hall. That building is a mess. The bathrooms are disgusting and in need of renovation. That is where the monetary resources should have been allocated, that and parking. Another real tangible change, that will never happen, more parking lots being built. As a student that drives 30 minutes one way, I have to fight to find parking. I pay well over $100 and still find myself having to pull a parking ticket because the parking lots are either full or the parking garage is full. Not everyone has the luxury of walking from their home to campus. Parking is beyond frustrating. The ratio of parking per permit type is not accurate. This campus should have built another parking garage or another parking lot instead of building another unnecessary sidewalk. BUILD ANOTHER PARKING GARAGE OR PARKING LOT KSU! Last thing, the library. The library is absolute breath taking and is a pure gem on this campus. The library usually has enough space to hold everyone and houses plenty of study space. That being said, the library is a library. Why should any talking at a normal decibel be allowed. A library is not a "chill spot to hang, fam." The library is and should be a place for scholarly activities. The Student Union is the perfect place to talk. Talk at the union not the library. The whole library should consist of quiet zones, not just one floor that fills up in minutes. The only reason that this campus gets two stars is because some of the professors are excellent. Not all. A large majority of the professors, while not usually approachable, have a clear cut passion for the subject matter and teach in a passionate way.

I'm glad that they have it on this side of the town although Manhattan is really not that big of a place. I've only been to this studio twice for a yoga class. On my second visit, I actually got time to check out the gym. First of all, it doesn't seem like parking is a problem. I've been going there in the evening, so I don't know if that makes any difference. They have a small lobby area with nice comfy chairs. The lockers are also around there. The gym staff that I have met are very nice and helpful. Because it's a small place, there aren't too many equipments. I can safely report that there are two of each equipments. They have the usual treadmill, elliptical and bicycle machines, weights etc. There's one studio room for the different workout classes. I think this branch is fairly new because there aren't usually too many people. In fact, the times I've been there, I was the only person to use the place. I like the yoga classes because the instructor is really good at what she's teaching and it's a really quiet and peaceful place to do yoga too despite being right next to a somewhat busy street. My only qualms is the price because they have special discounts only for military personnels or students. Regular members will have to pay about $40 a month. Knowing that I can only go once a week makes me feel like that price is a little too much including the price of gas I will have to spend to drive to this location as well. I still would like to continue going to this gym just because it seems extremely clean and it's still new, so the equipments are also in top condition. I hope that the next time I feel like giving it a second review, I will want to give it one more star. The only reason it's a 3 is simply because I've only been there twice.
