When we visited, there was a special exhibit about the history of the Volkswagen GTI. We learned so much about how the car was positioned in the market against hot hatches from Opel.

You could literally spend an entire weekend here because around every corner, theres more fun stuff! It's really incredible to see vehicles that are iconic and the museum takes such great care of every artifact. If I could have a gripe, it's a lack of personnel at some of the exhibits you stand in line for. The Concord for example, some parents allowed their kids to run up and down this thing. This is not only a safety issue but they could damage the historical items. When you're done, stop and get a bite as it was tasty but a bit of a wait.

Obergeschoss geschlossen war. Es gibt etliche Artefakte zu sehen, von steinzeitlichen Gräbern über Gefäße, diverse Objekte und Grabplatten v.a. aus römischer Zeit. Der Eintrittspreis beträgt nur €3 für einen Erwachsenen. Zum Ticket bekommt man einen Lageplan des Museums, den man eigentlich nicht braucht, um sich zurecht zu finden. Mein Interesse galt v.a. den originalen Artefakten, weniger den Multimedia-Shows zur Geschichte der Stadt. Dazwischen kann man sich im Garten des Klosters etwas entspannen. In einer knappen Stunde ist das Museum zu bewältigen, und interessant fand ich es allemal.

So I'd go from one person to another to another, and ultimately ended up in circles. At one point, a staffer said, "This is a MUSEUM. We don't have kids stuff." Die Engländer ("Artus-Sage") können ein Lied davon singen. SO geht es aber nicht: Abgesehen von dem altertümelnden Gebäude gibt es hier keinerlei(!) Objekte zu sehen. Man bekommt mit dem Eintrittspreis (€5,50) ein iPad Mini mit Kopfhörer in die Hand gedrückt, auf dem sich eine reichlich biedere Multi-Media Show befindet. Dabei gibt es zwei Varianten, die eine für Wagner-Liebhaber speziell für den "Ring des Nibelungen". Mit Tablet und Kopfhörer bewaffnet hakt man eine langweilige "Station" nach der anderen ab, teilweise mit kurzen Videos im Turm aus Fritz Langs zweiteiligem Film "Die Nibelungen" - in obszön schlechter Qualität auf Briefmarkenschirmen. Einziger Lichtblick: Die Kopfhörer (Beyerdynamic) waren super! Im ganzen Museum saßen die Leute auf schlicht stilisierten modernen Thronen herum und starrten auf ihre iPads. Das kann ich auch zu Hause über YouTube haben! In 10 Minuten war ich mit diesem Nichts an Museum durch, ein Titel könnte sein: "(K)ein Museum, oder die teuerste Pinkelpause aller Zeiten". Floor after floor of printed rare books, Hand scribed bibles , tiny -tiny books and every imaginable printing press. A small furnace model with a mold and bronze casting as a example of how individual letters could be cast and finished. A engraving machine to make plates for bond certificates. Similar to money certificates. And a movie theater explaining the history of the man. Birth to death. Really great 3 hours. Nice little Art shop at the end.
