After I ordered my food to take-away I was shown to a seat to wait and was given a complimentary glass of fresh orange juice. The food took aroung 5-10 minutes to prepare which I was fine with as everything is made fresh. When I recieved my meal and drove home I was very pleasantly surprised to find 4 complimentry onion bhaji. As I tucked into my curry I found that the Korma sauce was very nice and thick and creamy but not to thick or creamy to make it inedable or sickly which I have consumed in the past from other take-aways. The Bhuna was excellent, I could not fault this curry at all. In both the Korma and the Bhuna, the chicken was in very large chunks and pure white breast, This restaurant does not skimp on it's ingredients like most places. Overall, I would give this restaurant a very big thumbs up and if your looking for a place to take your loved ones for a quiet family meal, you've got to give the Sangam Balti House in Lostock Hall a visit. I did not know what to order and accepted the waiter/owner/maitre 'd's suggestion: a "medium" spicy dish. I had asked for spicy Indian about a week ago at Oxford and suffered the entire next day, so I decided medium would be OK. He said the dish was one of their best. It came and I was unimpressed. It was fairly spicy without being very tasty, There were a few chunks of chicken, but it was mostly a pretty lame sauce. I asked for chips instead of rice and they were freshly fried, crispy, frozen pre-cut potatoes. They had probably frozen for quite a while since most of them stuck to each other. To this point the review would probably be 3 stars, but this place lost every ounce of credibility when they presented me the check. It had a charge for £2.80 for the poppadoms, etc. When I asked about it, the sleazy guy said "I asked you and you said you wanted it, that is what we charge for it." Well, this is the kind of stuff that is typically included with a meal for free, as it was in the restaurant in Oxford, and I told him so. Finally, he offered to take if off my bill and presented me with another version where he rounded my £9.25 meal up to £10. I let him have the 75p. And also let him have this review. Just say no to King Karai. You'll be glad you did.

I think the biggest let down was definitely the decor and toilets. The website is very impressive, but upon entering, not at all what we were expecting. The lovely conservatory was not open, (looked like it was used for parties only) the purple doors were a bit garish and the 'bamboo' theme a bit tacky. I remember the toilets from my visits to it's predecessor - the rose and crown pub and that was nearly 15 years ago. At the prices they are charging, it would be nice for them to at least give the main dining area and toilets an overhaul to make the dining experience even better

This set up as a perfect environment to have a drink and converse...went on to have dinner with great apps and even better main courses. Add to that some drinks and you've got the best Indian food around. Would highly recommend if you are in the area!
