I'm used to going to an Illinois location, which has always been top-notch no complaints there extremely clean.Due to us moving to Wisconsin and we wanted to celebrate our anniversary here. I tried the Wisconsin location unfortunately, the only room left where the whirlpool suite which I booked . We did not have the experience that we were hoping for and paid for. Hot tub kept having green like mold floating in the water every time we try to fill it plus as you see in the picture it had some black residue as if it's been leaking for a while. Massage chair we couldn't use that you've seen. It was extremely dirty. I started wiping it down with Lysol wipes and just got frustrated because this is something I shouldn't have to be doing. It's ripped it looks very used. Bathroom was not 100% clean, shower curtains were a bit dirty, shower is a bit beat up for the price that this company charges you would think everything is top notch this location needs to upgrade their rooms as well as have higher standards on cleanliness and presentation of the rooms for the prices they are charging. read more

Your rooms do not look anything like your website. For over $400 a nigjt, the hot tub never got hot, the air conditioning was so loud we couldn't hear the tv, there were 3 remotes for one television and we had to have 2 of your employees enter our room to show us how to turn up the volume. The hard water stains in the tub and sink gave us a bad vibe. read more

My husband surprised me with a 3 day stay here for my birthday. This place is amazing. The room was very clean and romantic. The pool and hot tub was amazing and so relaxing. The staff was very helpful. When we left to grab something for breakfast or dinner, they would come in and test the pool and empty the trash and change the towels. Room outdated. We had no heat in our room and it was 10 degrees outside. Called office and stated they couldn't do anything until maintenance came in the next morning. My husband and I froze. This was the 2nd suite I took my fiance to for his 40th bday in April. Needing a beautiful get away we drove 1.5hrs away and he had no idea where I was taking him. We've both wanted to come here for years so I thought this would be a great surprise and a nice getaway. This place was beautiful! We got the Chalet the top suite with the pool/slide/sauna/jacuzzi. WE HAD AN AMAZING NIGHT!!!!! I mean it was much better than I could've ever expected. The private garage entrance was nice. The rooms are dated tho, especially the bathroom. But I loved the sound system it really was a nice touch. The staff was also very friendly too. I can't wait for my next visit to the Sybaris!!! read more

So Sybaris pool suites are nice in that it's great to have access to things like a steam shower, whirlpool tub, privacy, and much more. The lighting and other options provided by the room here is great and it's nice that they have the fireplace, robes, and other accouterments for an escape from the everyday. Clearly this is an indulgent getaway location for some romantic times with a significant other. Sybaris requires a membership and no more than two guests may stay in a suite at one time. The front office sells many little items that could improve a getaway like this, including bubble bath and games along with other sensuous options, which is convenient especially if you're traveling here from afar and wouldn't want to bring these items with you. That said, some of the decor feels a bit dated. The fake plants felt out of place in our suite for example. The colour scheme and general decor seemed to be from the 1990s to me (whether it actually is or not is another story). It is nice that you can use so many lighting effects in the room regardless. And it is great that the rooms are secluded and private (and have no windows so that you can enjoy the room at any hour with privacy). One improvement I would make however is to not have the fireplace timer make an awful ticking sound. I mean sure, it's great that it is on a timer as one could very well fall asleep without worry this way, but it really isn't very peaceful when you have to listen to the timer. Likewise the suite could be improved by having the light switches etc. labeled. And the instructions for the whirlpool tub weren't entirely accurate (which I imagine is due in part to wear and tear but still!). I think it would be way more user friendly if this is updated to reflect what and how things currently work. While we did not take advantage of all the amenities that the room offered it was a pretty great stay overall and I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for this kind of couples' retreat. read more

This establishment is not even deserving on 1 star! Long story short. My wedding night, full on wedding dress, leave my wedding reception to check in before I head back to celebrate. The EXTREMELY rude woman behind the front desk tells me my card is declined and my reservation was canceled. She says they emailed me twice and called to inform me of this. First off, my card was not declined. I received confirmation emails that the room was booked. I understand mistakes happen and I would have been more understanding had the clerk not been a complete and total bitch!! It was very clear her time was being wasted my my inquiries of any availability at all at that establishment. I was able to speak to a manager the following Monday, he wasted no time . He apologized and offered me an over night in the same cheap ass room we booked originally. I told him thanks but no thanks. I did have to call back to confirm that the charge on my card was refunded. THIS time, I was on hold for an eternity then was told I'll get a call back in 5 min. No call back. One more thing! The front desk area smelled as stale as Goodwill. Thanks but no thanks! read more

Terrible service. Main office smelt like weed. Was locked in the room within 2hrs of arrival. Took an hour to get ahold of anyone. Deadbolt jammed had to cut us out. Bent the door trying to open it so in December had an awful draft the whole time. No compensation!!!! Pool was dirty and beds rock hard. Sent 3hrs to get there and a lot of money to swim naked in a pool. Place needs serious upgrades. Don't waste your money. read more

We came here for a reconnect romantic get away. The staff were very helpful and courteous. I have been going thru alot since loosing my mother in July, so this definately helped to ease my mind, and for me to relax. We had some trouble with the heat here, but it was fixed even tho a few other things didn't work. A speaker, sir didn't close all the way to steam room, and a few lights out. First time at the Wisconsin location as well as in the Chalet suite, the most expensive and "luxurious" suite they offer. DO NOT COME HERE. For what we paid $600+ The Chalet suite is no where near worth the price when compared to spending a night in the paradise suite which in the North Brook IL location, is very clean. The slide from the bedroom to the pool was dirty, had mildew, slimy surface clearly not cleaned. We did not use it... The bathroom had a drain issue which made the immediate area smell like sewage. The couch in the master bedroom had huge tears in it, was dirty and came apart once my fiancé sat on it. It was basically a cover that was no longer secure which gave direct access to pipes and electrical below. Imagine if a phone or wallet fell between the cushions? It would be impossible to get! How dangerous is it to have something like that were so many sit? The fridge was dirty and had left over drinks/food from the previous guests. IT was clear that this place has been used many times and they do not repair anything. Lots of broken or chipped light casings, dirty tiles/cracked very minor issues BUT so many that its become so noticeable. The wifi/Tv did not work as well. When you pay $600 a night for a romantic getaway EVERYTHING should be immaculately clean and feel like the you are the first guests to enjoy the suite. Instead, we got a bedroom with a drain/sewage problem, slimly mildew slide and overall a very dirty suite. Reached out to the front desk and management several times and not one response back. I would suggest going to the North Brook IL location at least BUT only sticking to the Paradise or majestic tops. read more

What an amazing place. Our only complaint was we couldn't stay longer. We got the paradise sweet and we're offered an upgrade since someone cal canceled. We got the majestic suit and it was absolutely amazing. We didn't know until after but if you call and book and are a first responder or military you get a nice discount. We can't wait to come back. Well, I was nervous after reading the reviews.... But I feel like most of them dont understand the mission of Sybaris. The mission is a romantic, secluded club for couples. This was also created in the 1970s. I used a Living Social voucher and we stated for one night. We stayed somewhere else for 2 other nights. The room was stunning. I really believe that everything is very thoughtful. The bed was comfortable and the chairs and tables were nice. I like that they set up your room for you, so we had ice and strawberries already in the room. The room was very clean, which I am sure is a feat with all the mirrors. I loved the pool. It could have been warmer, but I loved it. The waterfall was annoying and it stayed on for 5 minutes. The hot tub was nice, but we are big people and it was for little people so the water came out of the tub. Steamroom was decent. There are some things that weren't my taste, like a mirror on the ceiling of bed, plants hanging over the pool. The bathroom could use an update. The lobby is kind of tacky with sex games and sex wedges. It is a nice romantic getaway and we will be back. I don't think it is a place you stay more than a night with late check out. We like to do stuff and this hotel is more of a place to stay and reconnect. I think it is just a preference call. Place is pricey, but you get your own pool.... We absolutely love going here. When people hear the name, they flutter and think all kinds of "crazy" things about why people would go here. But to be honest, it is a very nice get away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago for my fiancé and me. I first came here on a Living Social voucher. I've since came on two other occasions, including my birthday, where Champagne was given as a celebratory token. I love the ideas of the pool suites, mainly because my fiancé and I really enjoy soaking in a tub together. This allows us to really unwind and really enjoy ourselves. We will continue to return as we've decided to go at least once every 3 months! read more

I booked one of the rooms here with 2 other people for one night. We were looking for something bigger that we could relax in a big tub, and this looked like the place. We got there, started checking in, and were told only 2 people were allowed in a room. Not anywhere does it say this when you are reserving a room, looking at room info, in the FAQ, etc. It is only after you go to the membership page (which you wouldn't do looking for the club rules) that you find the club rules. The other thing is that you have to pay the extra $30.00 for the annual membership, even if you're only staying once. Doesn't really seem like an exclusive membership to me. More of a way to charge more since anyone can stay there. While we were able to get a refund, we are very disappointed that 3 people weren't allowed in the room for the night. read more

Update: after our original reservation was mysteriously canceled, we did get a complimentary deluxe suite for a later date. The deluxe is definitely worth the price, and exactly what we were looking for. If we come again, we're splurging for the deluxe and double checking our reservation. read more

My husband had a fantasticly fun night in the chalet suite. We loved the pool and the slide, which is super fast! We played some games we brought, had drinks, utilized the stereo system while playing games as well as using the pool area. And we topped the night off in the jetted tub. My bf surprised me by making reservations at this Sybaris. He originally booked the deluxe suite and the day before they called to offer him a last minute special upgrade to the paradise pool suite, for only an extra $30! This room was gorgeous! Private pool room that had a steam shower and hot tub. See through fire place gave off nice heat and it was really nice being able to hook my phone up to the surround sound and play my music, speakers were in the pool room as well. Pool was very warm, and spacious, it was nice to actually be able to swim around. The bed was nice and comfy and the sitting are was clean and conveniently right next to the fire place. The whole property was very quaint and quiet too. They were fully booked but you'd never know it. We never heard or really saw any other guests which was great. Lots of privacy. My only complaint and I feel bad even using the word complaint.. the bathroom, although spotless was dated but everything worked well so it didn't bother me a bit. Also I was a bit bummed about the late check in time, 6pm, and early check out time, 11am.. but that's only cuz I didn't wanna leave! We tried to stay another night but sadly they are so popular everything was booked. Also, this hotel is aimed towards couples, I get that but I don't agree with the only 2 guests allowed per room but again. Didn't effect my stay. Overall we had a great time and are already planning to come back. FYI Groupon offers deals once in awhile but even with out that it's worth the money. read more

We've stayed at the pool suites here, and at the Champagne Lodge, and Sybaris is the way to go. CL doesn't even begin to compare. Room was extremely clean. Pool and hot tub was well maintained, and a great temperature. Rainfall feature was an awesome addition. There was a beautiful walking path outdoors. Staff was very kind and friendly. When we called down for champagne they had it to our room within just a couple minutes. Robes were very comfy. But #1 was the pool. Once you got in you just didn't want to ever get out. This was a surprise for my wife; and I had worked up the suspense quite a bit, so it was very important to me that it be a great experience!! We had a 4-hour afternoon getaway in a Paradise Pool Suite (having a private pool was the whole purpose of going) and things went really well! I was able to reach someone at the office for information both times I called; the online reservation went through flawlessly; I was not pressured on any upsell items; our space was clean, spacious, secluded, and very comfortable. A definite highlight was the mirror above the bed! The staff was very easy to talk to... check-in and check-out were breeze-easy and they gave us the key as soon as we came, about 20 minutes before our official check-in time. The waterfall timer did not turn off automatically, so a quick call to the (very responsive and helpful) front desk got us a solution without anyone having to come to our suite. For a family with young children, the afternoon getaway is a fantastic opportunity. I was told via phone that if you purchase lifetime membership, your certificate for the free afternoon getaway in a Paradise Pool Suite is not given to you till 30 days later. So we checked it out this once with an annual membership to see if we'd want to return... and next time we can line up a babysitter and part with a couple hundred bucks, we'll be happy to come again! Country suite is a waste of money. Room is outdated and in need of a remodel. Whirlpool is substandard and loud, can hear from the other room. Some amenities did not work and had to call reception desk twice. Rooms are not cleaned unless you ask so no fresh towels. No instructions for phone to call desk, use fireplace or the retro massage chair. Toiletries are made in India, Mexico and China. Mattress was horrible and in need of being tossed. Mandatory membership fee was $100 on Internet but only $30 if you call. Could not get a credit, only to come back again. Save your money and stay somewhere else. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed in the top suite, The Chalet Suite, the one with the slide. The pool was fantastic, the bed was comfy, and the mirror above the bed could be turned into a starry night. What was wrong? We had no hot water, the massage chair outlet was broken, and help took 30 minutes longer than they said it would. However, they did give us a makeup stay for free which we will be using soon. Overall, it was still worth it since we got a free night out of it! read more

Just recently stayed over Christmas. It was a wonderful, relaxing, and enjoyable evening. The young staff at the front desk were very courteous and polite. This particular night I had one problem. If you stay in suite 45, there won't be any parking for your automobile because of the parking setup. Ugh, pissed me off. If the person next to your suite parks appropriately, he will be parked in front of the walk path and will inconvenience you when toting your belongings to get to your room. So they park too close to your parking spot where you can't park your car. Told the staff, who tried to rectify the situation, but couldn't at the time. So they offered me another bottle of champagne for the inconvenience because I had to park my car in a different location. Over all the rooms were very clean, complimentary Asti bottle was in the fridge and the pool was nicely heated. Christmas day, forget about finding an open resturant, unless you go downtown first. We went all out fancy............at the Quik Trip down the street. LMBO. Ultimately, sparks were flying that night eventually leading to a tap out. HAHAHAHAH. One of these day's I will get the CHALET. For the first timers, only 2 people per room; hotel policy, being tardy is fine, outdoors smoking only, bring your own cups or glasses; only small cups in room, and have a ball in the in-room pool.
