She saved the day for my small, elegant beach elopement…read more I had been speaking to photographers for months and couldn't find anyone that I liked their work enough to hire who was available with less than a year's notice. In comes Melanie, who I happened to find by accident through a Yelp promo email. She had another shoot earlier in the day, but bc we were doing a later beach elopement ceremony and reception, she could do it! Signing the contract and working out all the details online and via email was easy. She sent me some paperwork to give her details and then we had a phone conversation to discuss and get to know one another. On the day of - she texted me, showed up exactly on time, and was a dream to work with. So friendly, so kind, so helpful. She went above and beyond for me and my family and was so easygoing. She posed us wonderfully and rolled with the punches when a few things didn't go as planned (it's a wedding, it's going to happen!). Absolutely professional. The photos we've been given so far as a preview are stunning and I can't wait to see the others. Everyone raved about how kind she was and how much they liked our photographer afterwards, and when we've sent a few photos, they've all been blown away. I feel lucky to have found Melanie, and her husband Chris, to shoot my day and would recommend her to anyone who asked me for any photos. This experience was just as wonderful, if not more! Our session this year was on this past Sunday, a super cold winter day and we were her last session of the day. We were so excited for the beautiful boho setup and my toddler couldn't wait to see Ms. Anika's horses. When we rolled up, we were greeted by her same warm smile and it felt like it hadn't been a year since we saw her. Anika instantly makes you feel comfortable, which is so refreshing! I enjoy talking to her during the session and in all of our correspondence. She started off taking some photos of my husband and son. My toddler was super distracted by Anika's kitty, which was roaming around. It was so cute, and I don't know how she still managed to get incredibly beautiful photos of him while he was so distracted, but she did. The set for this year was so beautiful, with a boho style egg chair surrounded by sparkling, lit Christmas trees and other Christmas themed decor. She got great ones of all of us sitting in the chair, of myself and my son, and of just him. Once we finished with the set, she allowed my toddler to meet her beautiful horses - and he even got to pet them! 3 days later, he is still talking about the horses on the farm and how much he loved petting them. We then took some photos in a grassy area, with the setting sun behind us providing the most beautiful golden light. All of the photos are just indescribably beautiful. My experience was in purchasing some of these historic prints in order to frame then as a Christmas gift for a friends home. The prints are black and white and start out at $20.00 unframed and $60.00 framed for a 5x7 size and go up from there. Dementi was started in 1924 and is now run by the third generation. The studio also offers professional head shots, portfolios, portraits, wedding and event photography and even will rent studio space in the building should you choose to shoot your own. I am also pleased to say that they are keeping up with the times by offering on line review of photos. A portrait session I was quoted for 8 prints was $100.00 which I think was very affordable. I have always wanted to remember moments as they are and especially more so, my wedding day! She worked with us right from helping us choose the locations for our TWO ceremonies. My partner and I are both born and raised in India and as such were not very aware on how to go about planning our elopement in a different country. Leah sent over a very detailed list of potential locations, with pros and cons of each, she worked with us to understand how we envisioned the day. She helped us zero in on the two most gorgeous venues and travelled with us to both of them, including pit stops at our apartment to get the cutest photos with our cat and the hotel where we changed into our Indian attires for the second ceremony. Leah also helped us chalk out the timeline for the day and ensured that we had little buffers for little delays here and there. On the day of, Leah worked perfectly in coordination with out planner/officiant. She got the most beautiful and real pictures of the two ceremonies. I am the most awkward person in front of a camera, and she managed to make me look like beautiful, she perfectly caught the small little moments during the ceremony that we would always cherish. For our Indian ceremony, she went ahead and found the perfect little rock at Belle Isle and got the most perfect golden hour shots of our garland exchange ceremony.
