Having said that, the administrator with whom I spoke was very helpful and sympathetic. When more instructors were added to meet the demand, she called and got my daughter in. The courses were organized and well taught. So, I found the people at Dovercourt do their jobs well, and seem to truly give a damn. It is rare to find such character and expertise. Today I signed up for the free three day trial. so I can use three days over the next week. Went right to the weight room and I lifted weights for a while and then ran on the treadmill. It's a great room. So many machines. I don't even know what most of them do. It's a great relaxing atmosphere. I'm going to start going every morning instead of my usual jog along the canal. Oh, and my dad goes every month for a talk they have in one of the rooms with a speaker for mostly retired people. It's great. I've gotten to some of those.

Another thing is that it's very dirty over the place. I would say that there some other options like GLife or Elgin Fitness if you need some new equipment. If you are ok with old machinery then go ahead. The monthly prices range from $45 to $70. Unfortunately, it is very sad about gyms in Ottawa.

I'm a pretty strong swimmer so it didn't take me too long to get used to it, it was also a pretty good ab workout. My childhood dream might become my grown up hobby! They have a pool which is great. The change rooms are clean and the lockers seem new which is good. They offer a variety of classes like the other ymca, I just wish the classes went a bit later. The gym itself has a variety of equipment and the equipment works well and is fairly up to date. They also have a room with free weights, mats and medicine balls where you can stretch and workout (if there's no class happening). I really like this ymca because the few times I've gone it hasn't been too too busy which means I got to work out on the machines that I wanted without waiting around-huge plus. Tip: if you go later it will be even less busy!
