We enrolled both of our kids in Swim for Fun at different times (ages 3-6), really hoping it would be a positive introduction to swimming. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience.
After multiple lessons, our kids didn't come away with meaningful water skills or confidence. What was most surprising is that when we switched to a different program, they were able to swim comfortably within just 1-2 lessons. That contrast made it clear that the issue wasn't our kids, it was the approach.
Beyond the instruction itself, the overall environment felt uncomfortable. Communication with the owner, Kim, was often abrupt and came across as dismissive rather than supportive. As a parent, you want to feel like your questions are welcome and that your child is in a positive, encouraging space, and that just wasn't the tone we experienced.
I've also observed her in a pool management/lifeguard role, and the atmosphere there felt similarly tense. Staff didn't seem engaged or supported, which as a parent is concerning when safety and attentiveness are so important.
Every family's experience may be different, but based on ours, I wouldn't recommend this program if your goal is building early swimming skills in a supportive, encouraging environment. read more
