We're deeply grateful our pediatrician recommended this swim school. Miss Kathy and Rob practice a…read moregentle, child-first style of teaching and the results are amazing. It's incredible to see your own child blossom into a real swimmer - without fear, and with joy in the pool - after just a few lessons. It's also incredible to see that evolution in the other children with whom you share the class. We enjoy their mindful approach for both parents and children in how they structure the classes. We also respect their extensive Montessori teaching background, which shows in how they treat each child individually, with respect and kindness and calmness, and approach swimming as a series of small steps that all come together for different leaps of skill in the water. If you care most about your child learning to swim in a supportive, gentle and loving environment, this is the school for you. You will not only nurture a safe swimmer, but also a child who discovers joy, confidence and fun in the pool.

I have brought three of my four children here over the course of the past fourteen years, and will be enrolling my fourth this summer. The owners, and coaches, Rob and Kathy McKay, not only know about swimming, but they know about children. They both continually research ways in which babies and young children learn - using fun, age-appropriate games to teach crucial swimming skills. The children are having so much fun, they don't realize they're involved in instruction. The McKays are dedicated to providing a gentle and nurturing environment in which children can learn to love swimming, without the pressure and scare tactics that some other swim schools employ. If you're wanting to drop your child off while you sit on the sidelines, this is NOT the place for you. Parents in the water with their baby/child is a must here at this school - so it really becomes a mommy (or daddy) and me program. I can't think of another mommy and me program that I would enjoy more! You will spend your class time with your child in the warm waters having fun, playing games, and singing songs...all while learning swim techniques. To this day, my 17 yo is still such a relaxed swimmer and loves the water - as does my 8 yo. My 4 yo refused to even put his face in the water last year. Within a few classes, he progressed to putting his whole head under and LOVING IT! Within a few months, he was diving to the bottom of the shallow end to pick up a ring on the bottom of the pool. I can't tell you how many horror stories I hear from mothers who go elsewhere and their children become terrified of the water due to the forceful teaching techniques. I feel truly blessed to get to bring my children here. Lifestyle Swim School is THE swim school if you want your child(ten) to love swimming for LIFE!

I do wish they would mix up the class times once in a while because I've been going for about two years and schedule hasn't changed much so I end up doing the same classes each week. The instructor Jennifer is great. I love that she does different things each week so I don't get bored with it. The place is clean, large, good staff, nice pool. I like the E gym so you don't have to adjust weights as it remembers when you scan your bracelet. They have a lot of community/family based events.

The management team is always very polite and helpful. One of the main reasons I've stayed so long is their wide variety of classes -- yoga, BodyPump, Pilates, Zumba, HIIT, BodyCombat, and more. I used to LOVE the BodyPump and BodyCombat classes, especially with instructors Zoe and Cindy Lee -- they were incredible. So much energy, motivation, always correcting form and really engaging with the class. Truly my favorites. Unfortunately, after they left, I stopped attending those classes. I did try the new instructor, but the experience was very different -- loud in an uncomfortable way, lots of personal talk during class, and overall not the same professional atmosphere. There was also an awkward situation that made me feel unwelcome. I was filming myself and my friend briefly (as I sometimes do), making sure no one else was in the background. The instructor approached me in a way that felt unnecessarily confrontational, repeating the same comment about not filming, even after I had already stopped and put my phone away. After that, I felt uncomfortable returning to those classes and eventually stopped going altogether -- especially when I noticed the same energy during future visits. That said, the yoga classes are still excellent -- very strong instructor and great experience. The gym itself is well-equipped with modern machines, always clean, and offers great amenities: sauna, steam room, and a pool. Kids' programs are also a big plus -- my children have been taking swimming classes there for years (we've been coming here for about 6 years total), and they love it. When they were younger, we also attended "mommy & me" classes, which were wonderful -- lots of songs, playtime, and interaction. There's also a kids' playroom with staff, toys, and activities, as well as two playgrounds. They even have a daycare, and a small indoor play area available on weekends -- very family-friendly overall. Now, a couple of serious downsides. The building is quite old, and during rainy season the roof leaks -- I've seen water dripping in areas like the café and even the gym floor, with buckets placed underneath instead of fixing the issue. That's definitely concerning. Another important issue is the parking lot. There is an exposed metal rod sticking out where a parking stopper used to be, right near the front entrance by the windows. I personally had a scary experience with it -- it pressed into my car wheel, and I was lucky it didn't puncture the tire. I reported it and even left a review about it, but a year later it still hasn't been fixed. Please be very careful when parking in that area. Overall, it's a place with great potential, strong programs, and a family-friendly environment -- but also with some issues that really should be addressed.
