BUYERS BEWARE Shell Gas Station, 920 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77006 On March 23, 2023, I brought my F-150 in because it had a water leak; this Shell Station auto mechanic told me the AC UNIT was leaking. This gas station auto mechanic said we could fix this the right way for $2,200 or the cheap route for $400.00. He stated the correct way to fix it was to remove the dashboard steering wheel, cut some wires to access the leaking AC unit lower valve, and replace the gasket. Then this auto mechanic stated that the cheap fix would be putting silicone around the lower AC UNIT valve for $400. This conversation occurred next door (900 Richmond AVE) at 3:35 PM when I initially dropped off my F-150 that morning. BUYERS BEWARE Today, March 28, 2023, I took my F-150 to my local auto mechanic shop (Crossview Dr, Houston, TX), and they said they had never heard of removing the entire dashboard to replace a leaking AC unit gasket with confused looks on their faces. They ran the AC unit diagnostics, checked for leaks, inspected the vehicle, and determined the windshield was leaking. I'm glad I DID NOT pay this lying auto mechanic $2,200.00. BUYERS BEWARE. But be aware that gas in Montrose costs considerably more than that in Midtown & Museum Park. Gas at this station regularly costs 20-40 cents more than that at the Gulf (formerly a Texaco) just on the other side of Rt. 527, 0.4 miles down the road. The Gulf station even offers a discount of 10 cents per gallon, for customers who pay in cash. This station does not. Today, the cost of unleaded regular at the nearby Gulf station (at 411 Richmond Ave.) is only $2.159 ($2.059 for those paying in cash). The cost of regular at this Shell station is $2.699, a whopping 64 cents more per gallon, for those paying in cash (see my pic). And the Gulf station is more convenient for those getting on 59 South, or exiting 59 North. So get out of your comfort zone, and take your business just up the road. It pays to discover.

This morning I realized my gas tank was in need of a fill up. I was in and out of this gas station in no time! The pumps here are extremely fast, impressively so actually. I like that there is a lot of room between pumps so you aren't too close to anyone else pumping gas. It helps to spread out the fumes, loud car music, and generally is safer as people enter and leave. I don't know why I don't stop here more often. I guess I will now.

However, this review is more about the actual store called Oyster Creek Country Store. So, this store is a tiny little thing with your average convenience store amenities, a little cleaner than most gas station stores. I usually buy lotto tickets here when the jackpot grows to be too tempting not to buy a ticket. They make the process easy, especially for this girl who only buys a few tickets a year. They also have a special on their fountain drinks -- once you have a Styrofoam cup from them that you have purchased at regular price, you can refill it as many times as you want on different visits for $.99. The cups are actually bigger than the size you get at McDonald's next door for $1.00, plus you are kind of saving the environment through recycling. So, if you are a soda addict like me, this is not a bad deal. So, those are the two main things I do here besides get gas. Yes, this makes my life sound pretty boring, but I swear it's not.

My friend in Houston is a high price escort (possibly kidding, no comment) and sometimes just for fun she likes to drive up and down Bisonnet on Friday and Saturday nights and check out the competition. The low rent competition I should say. Yes this part of town is famous for streetwalkers. So be it. Keep on rocking in the free world. Or keep on something in the free world anyway. A couple of friends of hers walk around here (lol) and a lot of really shocking spectacular things are on show, the likes of which you would not expect to see on the streets of the USA, and would not want your kids to see. So don't drive them around here after dark. Trust me. This gas station is at the end of the strip (and away from the action, but close), and always seems to have cheaper gas prices than everybody else in the area. In that regard it's absolutely awesome. I referred to this as my gas station because it is. So despite the occasional panhandling this is absolutely a five star gas station. And very conveniently located right on the entrance to the 59 so that after cruising up and down hooker alley, yes that's its name, you can fill up in gas right before you get on the highway to go home to the rich neighborhood. I mean you're on Yelp aren't you? So you have time to Yelp? So you aren't living in Greenpoint or the Barrio, are you. Just kidding obviously. What a bougie piece of sh** I sound like right now. But yes, my fave gas station in Houston. Get over it.
