Dr. Craig is amazing! I always look forward to seeing him, and especially my recent follow‑up visit to thank him for saving my life. He was persistent over the past year in searching for the cause of my worsening left‑eye vision. He referred me to three eye specialists--a cataract specialist, a retina specialist, and finally a cornea specialist, who ordered a brain MRI. The MRI revealed a tumor pressing on my optic chiasm, which was responsible for my vision problems. I had the tumor removed a couple of months ago, and because Dr. Craig cares deeply about his patients and pursued every lead, I would never have discovered the brain tumor otherwise. I am still healing, but thanks to Dr. Craig, he will always be my hero! read more

I've given this practice a couple chances. Last year I was in severe eye pain, they couldn't fit me in at all - ended up being diagnosed with eye shingles by Wilmington Eye. Today I came in for my annual. Scheduled online and received no confirmation. I thought my appointment was 3:30p but it was 3:15p. I showed up at 3:27pm and was told I was late and would have to reschedule. Told the front desk staff I must have written the time down wrong but never received a reminder to confirm the time and she said they only text reminders - no phone calls or emails. I was not opted in to text messages. When I asked if there was not a grace period, they said it was 15 minutes. I was there within the grace period and they still refused to honor their grace period. read more

Oh my! I was playing pickle ball at the HOP, and when I headed out to my car and changed into my sunglasses, a lens fell out. A screw had come loose. The nearest optometrist is Swell. The staff there was amazing. Front desk charmers offered a variety of drinks while Shelby fixed my sunglasses. She said it was a quick fix and it was. I was given an eyeglass case, cleaner, and a tote bag. Amazing! When I need new glasses or an exam, I will make a beeline here. Swell has been open 8 years and I never noticed it. Spread the word. read more

A friend recommended this practice because he brings his dog to work, and she knows I love dogs! There's a lot to like about this place beyond the dog though. It's easy to get to. Easy parking. Cool office. The absolute best selection of frames in the area (unless you want boring frames that every other store has). Nice people. And, of course, a very knowledgeable optometrist! Dr. Scibal is a great! He takes his time and thoroughly explains everything. I honestly think he has a bit of teacher in him because he wants to educate you and does it in a way a non-optometrist can understand. Alanna in the optical shop is also great. She really listened to what I was looking for in a pair of glasses and offered great choices! She offered her opinion without any intention of swaying you. She explained the prices and insurance thoroughly and she knows her facts. I highly recommend this place! Wait until you hear the music they're playing in the room you're in. Very very cool! read more

I had some debris in my eye for a few days and had been trying to get it out with all kinds of methods at home with no luck. Out of desperation I found Swell and a Dr. Brooks was able to see me. She was so gentle and communicated every step of the process. I'm grateful for her help. She was able to get the debris out! I feel 100% better. Thank you Dr. Brooks, you've gained a new client today! There was also a special added touch that the technician asked my favorite musician and she played the music in the exam room while I waited on the doctor. Instant comfort. read more

Very polite and professional . Everyone was so nice and helpful. A little expensive for my budget. The doctor was so nice

After waiting 2 weeks for my glasses they said they didn't pass inspection and had to go back. Here i wait into the 4th week. I'll use lens crafters next time at least I'll get them the same day. read more

First visit to Swell Vision. I'm new to the area and live in the neighborhood. If first impressions are important to you, the design of the office is very unique and inviting (modern, clean, comfortable). A very cool office environment! I was immediately greeted by a very friendly staff, had to fill out some paperwork, and was even offered a beverage. I was informed that a certain scan was not covered by Medicare and I agreed to pay for the scan (this was prior to my exam). After a few minute wait, I was approached by a very friendly technician that asked some questions about my vision health and performed a few tests (pressure, photos, and another one or two that I don't even know). Then the doctor came in, again super friendly. She reviewed the tests/scans that the tech performed, asked me several questions, then had me go through the different vision options reading the letters on the wall. The doctor determined I have very good vision health (for a soon to be 70 year old!), and didn't need to dilate my eyes or perform the x-tra fee scan that I previously agreed to. What other doctor would do that? I was so impressed. Honest, sincere, friendly service and I highly recommend and will definitely return. I was even sent home with some samples of the contacts that I wear. Thank you! read more

I recently went back to Dr.Scibal for a complete eye exam for new glasses. I had been to him last year for new contacts. The whole place is so welcoming and really beautiful with so many great and not over the top pricey frames. Melissa was a wonderful help with my selection. Dr.Scibal is so easy to converse with and really explains things in detail. The lovely Horatio was right next to me sleeping while I had my exam. He was a real sweet guy! Great decor, music and beverage hospitality! I can't wait to get my new specs! I'll be back to show them to you! If you need to have current exams.. this is the place to go! Trust me I have been to three other places in the Leland and Wilmington area and this is beyond the best!! read more

I've been wearing eyeglasses since the '80s, and I have to admit that Swell Vision is the best place I've ever had the pleasure of going to for my eyes. The staff is attentive, courteous, and friendly. Dr. Scibal is very knowledgeable and let's me ask questions and gives me the best options that suits my needs. I wish that I had more hands so that I could give this place 4 thumbs up! I highly recommend Dr. Scibal and his staff for all of your optometry needs! read more
