My garbage bin was left half full. I have a dumpster cleaning service that comes the following day so had to pull residual garbage out (not pleasant). Called to complain and person who answered the phone was very unapologetic and told me they tried their best and would send someone out today or tomorrow. Couldn't tell me which day. They regularly take our carefully sorted recycling and dump it in the garbage truck, along with our actual garbage (two different bins, one trash truck!). I know recycling in this country has a way to go, but we do the best we can our end -- try to at least do your job, S! Neighbors are upset about this, too. Sweitzer took over all the competition in our area, but their ongoing apathy and sub-par performance is pushing us to seek an alternative solution. read more

I was a purple trash customer and I was disappointed to find out that Sweitzer had taken them over. That is because I've read numerous reviews, mentioning missed pick ups and lack of communication. However, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try their service. That lasted all of about four weeks until they missed a pick up without any communication I called the next day and was told that they would be out that day to pick up my trash, however that turned out to be a lie as I am now three days beyond that point and still have full dumpsters. Needless to say I just canceled my service and will be going with Bozutto. Believe the numerous negative reviews you read about Sweitzer's; they're terrible. read more

They skipped my trash pick up and despite five calls over two weeks never corrected. I cancelled my service and have called twice to get them to take their bins away. Still hasn't happened. I have never worked with such a poorly managed company. read more

Hired these folks. They couldn't get us started for a couple weeks. A few months later, they missed us. I called and told them; did not come; called again and got their answering machine. Every call after went to the machine. My wife called and they answered once; after that she got the answering machine. The party where the barrels were called; nothing. I called today--got the machine and said the barrels are full take the garbage and the barrels. read more

I hired this company because it was local, but it was the worst mistake I could make, if I could I would give them zero stars, they did not pick up the garbage for 3 weeks, and I called every week and the people who answer the phone are very rude, I asked for my money back so I could hire another company and they also did not want to tell me that I had to stay the 3 months forced or lose my money read more

If I could give zero stars I would. They didn't drop the dumpster off in time, had zero record of our reservation. We have had the dumpster for a week. It was supposed to be picked up Friday. After calling multiple times we finally got ahold of someone and we were told sorry we will pick up the dumpster tomorrow morning no matter what. Here we are Saturday afternoon, dumpster is still in the garage and can't get ahold of anyone. Avoid this overrated company at all costs if you're looking for anything remotely reliable. read more

Horrible service. They're regularly late if they come at all. Recycling is particularly bad. Avoid them like the plague.

Sweitzer Waste Removal really saved the day! Came to my house 3 times after the storm but the town still hadn't removed the tree. They kept coming until they could get my garbage. We are moving from Clinton and saying goodbye to twenty two years of service that we could count on. From time to time, we would forget which days were garbage only! But the office would set us straight. The fellows manning the trucks were always friendly. I feel like we are saying goodbye to family. Thank you, Sweitzer. When we first moved to Guilford, we used Young and Finocchio for our pickup. Service was good. But then they sold their business to Sweitzer who took over our route. Resultant service was not good. We decided to go with Waste Tech, whose service was better and whose prices were more favorable. But recently, Waste Tech decided to sell their pickup service to Sweitzer! So we are back with Sweitzer. Since our return to Sweitzer, they jacked up our rates 25%, giving an excuse about increased expenses. To make matters worse, they now pick up recyclables every two weeks, a change from their weekly pickup, which means that our large recycling bin gets filled up. The past month pickup has been consistently late and delayed, even though our cans are out there since before dawn. A couple of occasions, the recycling had to be picked up the following day, due to "delays." So how's the change over to "every two weeks" working for Sweitzer? Well, it's not working out for us! We cannot afford to leave our garbage can out there overnight due to Sweitzer's claim of "delays"! When I telephoned the dispatcher, I sternly mentioned this to her. Where we live is crawling with all kinds of animals who would like to do nothing more than raid garbage cans left overnight. So , based upon our experience with Sweitzer, I cannot recommend them. read more

I was happy with WasteTech and then I was informed that Sweitzer was taking over in my area. The billing transition was seamless, however, they seem to only pick up what meets their exact criteria for curb placement. They haven't picked up my trash in a month because the wheels on one of the bins was pointed in the wrong direction. No note, nothing. Just an attempt to "train" their inherited customer who was obviously unaware of the "issue". Thanks, but I'll just go elsewhere. read more

This is one of the best trash and recycling companies on the CT shoreline , everything they say they would they do - they provide great service and also supply the garbage and recycling cans as well ... I know some negative people can disagree with every other week pick up for recycling , but, really does it matter ?? Listen if you want a small local company for your waste service than Sweitzer is your company , they really do care about your trash and want nothing more than to help! Customer Service is great too.... always willing to come back if your late putting out your trash - better than the bigger companies who tell you to wait till next time and/ or Bill you for the extra time... give them a try - you won't be disappointed with Sweitzer! read more
