The cheap beach jewelry is really cheap cheap beach jewelry. I like taking the family here because they have three "50 cent" rides.. One is a gator and two are Dolphins, which my toddlers love to ride. There is also a candy and ice cream store In the back "yabba's". Which is fabulous. The ice cream is yummy, the staff is always super friendly and fun. The candy store has tons of options... Alphabet Gummies and all kinds of candy. The candied pecans are fabulous. There is a kid only area in the back by the candy store part. We always enjoy this. It has the typical beach items... Not quite as many beach toys, but always seems way less crowded and crazy than the shark store. We always get our ice cream and candy here and then finish by sitting in the Beca table area just outside. Fun place and a must visit

Now the selection here while similar to Souvenir City does have some different things so you might want to just take the time to look in both stores to ensure you don't miss something really cool on sale that you never would have dreamed you needed or wanted. Some of the items here also seem to be of less quality than some other places. Overall since Souvenir City and Purple Octopus are so close to each other you might as well check out both.

While this is a great place for kids if you're like me you'll feel like a kid again when you walk…read morethrough the doors. Upon entering you can smell all different kinds of sweets and treats but right up front I'm always drawn to what we called "penny candies" when I was a kid. OMG Clove and Black Jack gum, Mallow Cups and double OMG the little wax bottles filled with juices. I forgot what we called them over 50 years ago but these are called Nik.L.Nip mini drinks, and for those that were kids when my 41 year old was a kid they have a big selection of pop rocks :-) Staying with the sweet stuff they have a great assortment of candies from just about every decade going back to WWII and up to the Star Wars variety. There's jelly beans, taffy, candy tacos, cotton candy and a virtual plethora of sweet treats, trust me this is a candypalooza store. They have lots of good snack food for your eat-in or akeout pleasure including hot dogs, slow-roasted Pork, popcorn, homemade chili & cheese sauces, homemade salsa,  scratch petzel dough, in-house recipe mac & cheese, hamburgers & more. Plus ICE CREAM, always great to have a nice ice cream choice by the beach, nice! There's a bigger version of this locally owned business in Foley with the advantages of a larger inventory and also a great souvenir shop, if you don't want to deal with the crowds closer to the beach. They also have other fun stuff t-shirt collections, socks, stuffed animals, souvenirs and an eclectic soda collection, the bacon & coffee sodas caught my eye. Bottom line: This is a super stop for the entire family! #nostalgia #fun NOTE: I'm normally not one to be crtitical of other reviewers as we all have our personal experiences and should never shy away from sharing without reservation. However, in the case of this business there's some bad star ratings that apparently due to Covid indiscretions and I have something to say about that. This is my opinion as it relates to negatively impacting the overall rating of a business. A 1 star rating will impact a business forever, and let's face it, not that long ago no mask or no gloves wouldn't have factored into that score and with any luck not long from now it won't be a factor again. But the rating will. I feel that any business should be viewed for its venue, the product quality and service and even a bad staffer shouldn't be the ultimate arbiter of the overall score. It's not my intention to make this personal to anyone it's just that I have both sympathy and empathy for small business and I'm on my soap box to address this particular issue as I believe we owe it to our communities to be just a little more measured overall, especially during these difficult times, and especially for our local owned and operated shops. One last thought, I try to put in a Covid related remark, and in a couple cases a warning, so that readers can be informed about what they might encounter. I'll step off now .....

The fries one seriously looks like a little container of French fries, but they're chocolate/vanilla ice cream bars with a strawberry jam dipping pack. The soccer ball was almost too cute to eat--and perfect for our soccer-loving family! Definitely one of those treats you buy because they look fun, but they actually tasted good too. The kids got a huge kick out of them! Would absolutely grab these again if we spotted them!

I was on the hunt for a decent pack of sardines. We just came from Baton Rouge and we are using to having Whole Foods etc. it is a small store but they do have some good products. My daughter and husband got the fruit shaped ice cream. I did find some sardines / not the brands I was hoping for but definitely better than what's around. I was going to get a bottle of wine. However I did notice a wine I normally get is 14/15 dollars and they market it up to 26.77 there- and it's the same bottle. In my mind that's too big of a market up. I ended up going to isla wine instead which is a boutique wine store and their mark up is only 1-2$ more than the general price. This store also has caviar which I'd love to buy but now I do feel like I have to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

It's locally owned and operated with very helpful, professional and friendly staff. It's a fun place with lots of retro items, I'm always on the lookout for a new tie-dye shirt, of course, but I'm my last trip the other day I found a very cool Lucy (Peanuts, that Lucy) shirt that I couldn't resist buying for my #1 daughter, adorable. Bottom line: From Snoopy and Lucy to Star Wars and Star Trek you'll find with classic band, TV, movies, and comics you'll find t-shirts, hats, lunch boxes, jewelry, and a while more this is a great memorabilia shop! The guy behind the register didn't speak to us at all, which is honestly why I didn't purchase anything. He ignored us entirely. Totally fine with me... I took my business to HotTopic. *shrug*
