I was lucky to find a parallel parking spot right in front of the building. This is a boutique shop, so they offer curated chocolates. I visited shortly before Christmas and my mom purchased sweets shaped like reindeer for my cousin's kids. I've just today had a terrible experience in this store. A store I've shopped in many times in the…read moreyears I've lived here. I bought this tin of Cavendish and Harvey Sour Cherry Drops last week. And just like you when I got home I put the tin up and tossed the receipt. When I opened the tin yesterday I found the seal had been punctured. I pulled the seal and the Drops had all melted together as you can see in the pictures. My wife, ever concerned for my well-being, advised me to not eat the candy. So I returned to the store, ready for an exchange or refund. They REFUSED to do either. Oh they had their reasons, number 1 among them was I didn't have my receipt. The store manager could not reach the owner whom I offered to talk to, or I could come back some other time and maybe catch up with the owner. So I won't tell you not to shop there, times are difficult for everyone these days. But I will not shop there again and when I need a lemon drop for a long car ride I'll make do with a bag of them from Walmart or CVS. There just sugar and flavor after all. But I will suggest that you look closely at every purchase you might make from that store and don't toss your receipt until you do. Or maybe they'll treat you better than they treated me. Or maybe not. You won't know until it's too late, It's a crap shoot. No place to post the pictures, but it's ycuky

They have a pretty large shop, and it can get crowded depending on when you go in there. They usually have a lot of customers coming in and going. Their prices are a bit steep for my budget, but I'm not sure if that's because of the current state of the economy or if that's normal for them. I stopped by intending to purchase some chocolates for a friend who loves chocolate, but I just couldn't find anything in my budget. If you have the money, though, they are definitely a convenient one-stop shop for your chocolate needs! I can see the appeal and would encourage people to go in and browse. There might be something for you in there.

I worked here several years ago when the farm was in its embryonic stage and let me tell you, it's blossomed! Here you'll find an amazing selection of herbs, vegetable/fruit plants, flowers, annuals, perennials and more! And of course, the gorgeous lavender! RVA residents shouldn't miss an opportunity to visit this small farm tucked away in a Glen Allen neighborhood. Off Greenwood Road, drive down the country lane and it will dead end at the farm. If you have out of town guests, a ride to this hidden treasure will make for a fun day trip! In the spring, plants and herbs from A-Z are available, starting at Anise Hyssop and down the line! Some of the perennial herbs I had purchased here years ago, still come back year after year! My Sweet Woodruff was planted many moons pasts and flourishes as a ground cover each season! They also carry some hard to find herb varieties too! I'm especially fond of the Cuban Oregano, Tuscan Blue Rosemary(that's for remembrance, quoting Ophelia in Shakespeare's Hamlet) and the Rue (you must wear your rue with a difference, Ophelia says!) Winter, spring, summer or fall, there's always something to see at Lavender Fields. In addition to the wide selection of plants, LFHF also has other amenities; local raw honey, tours, classes, a gift shop, teas, garden supplies and tools, planters, beautiful landscaping that backs up the the Chickahominy River, and don't forget their famous lavender lemonade and ice cream. I'm happy to support this family owned, local business that is spreading seeds of joy in their path, beautifying Richmond one garden at a thyme! When I came up to the register, I said hi, and the lady with the light eyes was seated before I came up. She never said hi back and slammed her hands on the counter when she got up like I was bothering her. After that she robotically said have a nice day after I did. Her service will ruin the business if she needs it by up. For goodness sake, people go grab ice cream looking for positivity, not attitude. The coconut bar (Barra de coco blanca $2) is gigantic and a must-try item. It's like an extra moist, bar-sized macaroon. To die for! Do get one for the coconut lover in your life. I actually came for the ice cream, but I almost walked out because it was all icy and kind be of melted. They had a really yummy variety of ice creams, but the freezer didn't seem to be keeping them properly. Improperly stored ice cream is a pet peeve. It really crocks the texture. I knew I wasn't messing with that. I decided to stay and find a coconut candy, since I had tried one at another Mexican candy store, so I knew they would have it. The candy was, of course, delish. They have better pin~atas than the competition, more characters and better designs, but I'd leave the ice cream, even though I came excited to try it because of the fun variety of sundaes they offer.
