I stopped in here because I was in the area for something else and had some time to kill and I was in need of a pedicure. The fact that a manicure/ pedicure was $30, almost made me leave but I figured ahhh what the heck this place is gorgeous and this is the grand opening so they were running a special of 20% off. Everything is new and crisp. I was greeted and taken of by "Lena" who was super friendly and sweet. It was a really great experience. I have never seen such a hygienic place before...they actually line the pedicure sinks with plastic disposable liners and use brand new filing tools fresh from a sealed package on everyone- and the best part of that? They let you take them home and if you do not want them they throw them out. This explains the $30 mani pedi. Ok by me because what kind of deal is it if it comes with fungus. I will pay extra for immaculate and sterile all day. The massage on my legs was excellent, she was very detailed about the entire process. At the end she actually put a paraffin dip on my heels (its a melted wax that shapes to the foot hot and softens as it cools) Apparently that is standard for any pedicure in this place. Now THAT was enough to make it worth it for me to drive that far again. I didn't plan on it but Now I have too. I really wanted to hate you Yumi's....but I just cant, your too damned good and now I will have to drive 23.2 minutes for this. They offer additional spa services in here as well. They all speak fluent clear english so if thats your native tongue there will be little confusion and lots of pleasant chit chat if you like because they are very nice but extremely professional. Even when I move about 30 minutes away, I still drive back here to get my manicures and pedicures! It's $50 for a full UV gel set, and $35 for a fill in, but they do a great job and I love how clean everything is. Make sure to get a rewards card if you are a loyal customer! read more

Great little massage place, the people are so nice and inviting. I had the 1 hour foot reflexology/massage with FREE hot stones. It was so nice, the atmosphere in the massage room was very relaxing, good relaxing music, and very comfortable reclining chair that reclines into a bed. As part of the foot massage I got a short neck and back massage at the end. Some of the techniques for the feet I have not had before but it was very relaxing and my feet felt great. Had a couples message here and it was the best hour EVER. The rooms are clean and the place is quiet. The girls are really good at their job. No complaints here. I've also frequented the attached nail salon-that is my happy place. Very clean with soothing music. All the employees where sneakers so when they walk on the wood floors they are silent. The only noise is from the occasional patrons who either don't know how to use their "indoor" voice or feel they are the only people on earth. Loved this place at first bc I thought they used new nail tools for each customer. I figured because of that, it was worth the more expensive price. As I was at the drying station however, I noticed they have a sink in the back where they just rinse off your old tools and put them in packages and seal them to make u think they are brand new!! How insane. Plus, last time I went for a pedicure they did not touch or massage the bottom of my feet once, and unless you get a manicure, you don't get a free shoulder massage. A guy comes around with a timer while you are drying your nails and you have to pay. Decent job with the polish, but not worth price for sure. Won't be coming back. read more

Horrible! Angela used to run the other location on 347 (much more happier employees over there!! This location, nobody seems happy, not one spoke to us, not one can't speak English to well....my pedicure was abrasive!! LINA had a very aggressive way of handling my feet, never smiled, and almost took my skin off with her callous tool (my feet are baby soft already, I didn't need a hard scrub! She actually took too much skin off and hurt me. She also was firmly pushing my foot down if it wasn't in the placement of her desire. She didn't check the water, so I was shocked when I put my foot in because it was sooo hot!! Bad experience and lack of respect for paying customers. After having my nails done, the next day I returned to have the underneath glued as they were separating. Wendy refused to fix them. So needless to say, there's enough nail shops in the are to find someplace that does good nails and stands by their work. read more

WORST NAIL SALON I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!! I have never been to this Yumi location in St james and I plan on NEVER coming back!! I usually go to Yumi in Stonybrook and never had a problem. I just went to the St James location with two girlfriends today to get a mani pedi. The girl"Ashley" was the girl doing my nails. First She was very impatient when I was trying to find a paint color I liked. She then took me to the pedicure chair and put my feet in boiling hot water. She then used the instrument to push back my cuticles and cut my big toe badly and was bleeding all over. She put some kind of clotting medicine on it which didn't work. Finally after 10 minutes it stopped bleeding and she then proceeded to use nail polish remover on the cut!! I have been getting my nails done for years and I have never had such a bloody and painful experience at a nail salon. Not once did she say she was sorry. She was careless doing my gel manicure, I think my 5 year old cousin could of done it better. I hope I don't get an infection from this place!!!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Oh and it was $50.
