A quiet, friendly, casual hideaway with imaginative ice cream, neighborhood charm and lots of comfort food on the menu. Background and first impressions: We visited as a family in early March (before the pandemic announcement) and were welcomed in in the later afternoon, when there were few people around and when it was a little chilly outside. The interior is really cozy and charming, and we felt at home - the lady at the cash register near the front confirmed with us that we were eating in, and she showed us a nice table for the six of us. Our waitress (super nice, with glasses) came by to drop off the menus and gave us some time to think. Menus and food: We were hungry from hiking around the Poconos area, and the menus listed lots of options! My parents are vegetarians, and our waitress was happy to point out their options. We split some appetizers (the loaded nachos are incredible, the cheese dip was delicious), got a hot or cold drink each (the dollops of whipped cream on top of the hot chocolates are generous and tall!), and a sandwich (came with chips and some pickles) each. The food was fresh, the greens were crunchy as the chips, and everything delicious and easy to put away. At the end even though we were stuffed, the ice cream flavors were too interesting to pass up - our server suggested we get the sampler platter where we can all share little scoops of SIX flavors! Dessert: We all were able to enjoy the ice cream at the end of our meal, and when the server asked us which was our favorite, we realized most of us chose a different favorite from each other, which just goes to show how good the ice cream is that there truly is something for everyone. (my favorite was the pistachio.) In conclusion: Although it was a slower time of the day and the sun was setting, we never felt rushed and yet also felt very much taken care of. We didn't mention it at the time but we were in town to celebrate my father's 60th birthday, and he surely enjoyed this part of the weekend as a great memory.

Ice cream is among the best. Very special. Even the chocolate chips in the mint chip tasted special. The gentleman (guessing proprietor?) was there by himself in what used to be a dining-room turned storage/renovation project during covid (guessing). He was only taking orders through a sliding glass window like some kind of ice-cream pushing street dealer. He was also handling a larger food order so kindly shooed us away from the front of the store for thirty minutes while he worked on it. First reaction "ugh!", second reaction "if there's a wait there's a reason". We walked around town and went back in thirty minutes. The menus are taped in the window panes on 8x11 papers. They had a selection of by the scoop/sundae/shakes, and a longer list by the pint for take away. Since this place was so challenging to get an order in, we ended up adding on a few more things to the ice cream order - like a fig "pizza" (kinda a flatbread) and Arnold palmers, it was a hot day and they were refreshing. It might have been fresh squeezed lemon juice. And added some dog ice cream since my dogs are my babies now that kids are in camp. The dog ice creams (bananas, cream, peanut butter) were frozen solid even by the time we made it back to my friends house 20 minutes away. Food all looked interesting. This gem is a little advertising and an employee or two away if it can find good people from being a destination worth the trip. But for now, it's quirks are just fine. I have to imagine the pandemic criminally crippled a gem like this so I am happy spending whatever I can to help with a turnaround. Looking forward to making a few trips if I can make it there during the odd hours it's able to open.

Sweet creams? More like sweet dreams! I could use that incredible Waldorf sandwich right now...or that smooth peach ice cream! ++ Waldorf: chicken salad sandwich with a difference...the crunchy nuts, green apple, grapes, tender chicken, flaky croissant...PERFECT Ice cream: we tried the peach and cream flavours, and both were to die for Ambience: cozy but charming space, enough customers to feel the buzz, an service was quick and to the point We'd come back in a heartbeat.

Affogato
Shaji K.

Warm Saturday afternoon, decided to cool off with some sweet treats at this cafe. Small storefront that includes a few tables and chairs outside as well as seating inside. Didn't want anything too heavy, so ordered the Affogato ($5.25) - a combination of espresso, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream all in a to-go cup. Coffee is certainly bitter, helped by the sweetness of the other two ingredients. Wish there was more ice cream overall, seemed like I was left with a lot of whipped cream and coffee halfway into the dessert. Overall fine spot, think I would opt for just ice cream the next time around.

Ah everything is here made from a scratch. Very sweet owner too.. I asked him for a basil lemonade - I believe he makes them to order. So kind. I'm getting Frozen chai as well. One of their TOP drinks. The business here took a hit because of pandemic and I hope they stay open. They are toooooo good also - they take Apple Pay (boom!)

Cup of Italian Wedding soup.

Cute little cafe on Main Street in Stroudsburg. The menu was limited to appetizers, salads and sandwiches and of course homemade "sweet cream" ice cream creations. I had lunch there on a chilly rainy day so soup was on my radar. Italian wedding soup was the soup of the day by cup or bowl. I ordered a cup thinking it to be a standard diner cup size but to my surprise it was served in an oversized mug but only half filled. It was tasty with lots of round pastry na and Italian style tiny meatballs with spinach. The was no trace of any chicken meat as is often found in this soup. It was hot so I was happy. My sandwich choice was called a Smokey Mountain and was served on the crispiest croissant I have ever had. It was sufficiently loaded with smoked turkey breast and smoked Gouda, and plenty of crispy bacon garnished with lettuce and a ripe tomato and an onion mayo which wasn't overpowering. Served warm , it was very tasty. Having saved room by taking half my sandwich to go it was time to try a dessert-Ice Cream! I ordered the Brownie Sundae with Butter Pecan ice cream, hot fudge and of course whipped cream with a cherry on top. All I can say is "sweet cream goodness!". It was creamy, the brownie was a real homemade brownie and the hot fudge sauce was actually hot! Perfect ending to a really enjoyable lunch. Although the prices are a little bit high for a college town budget the quality was there. If in the area-try it!

I love my blooming tea to start. The cutest drink I had for a while. Love as well my eggs meal although it would tastes better if comes up with either half salad or half sandwich to complete the package. My son had been asking for waffles all day, and although they'd moved onto the dinner menu, the chef handed us the brunch menu as well and let my son know that he could pick any waffle he wanted. The food came out, and everything was fresh and delicious! My son got his waffle and a piece of salmon. My husband and I shared a salad, and burger with Mac and cheese. We also had espresso martinis, and could not skip dessert after one of the better meals we'd had in a long time. Will gladly return here anytime we are back in the area.

My daughter and I ordered dirty martinis which had the best olives in town ! which by the way are made on premises. Best! Dirty martini.! We didn't have plans for New Year's Eve so me and my husband decided to go back we called. They were able to fit us in for a table of two. It didn't disappoint. Honestly, I think it's ridiculous to charge customers $2+ for a little thing of flavored butter when the steak already costs about $60. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out medium. It really didn't have much flavor either. There wasn't that filet mignon crust you'd expect from a steakhouse. It needed to be better seasoned. Drinks: our waitress said that they have a mystery old-fashioned where the bartender just makes whatever kind of old-fashioned they wanna make. So I ordered that and it came with some cranberries in there, but honestly, the drink just tasted like an old-fashioned. There was no mystery about it. Service: it was fine nothing to write home about. The bar was quite full, and there were quite a few people crowded around and standing around the bar, but there weren't all that many people in tables. Kind of took away the ambience of the restaurant and made it feel more like a bar. We'll probably go back because it's the only steakhouse around that's not a franchise, but I did make filet mignon at home after this, and it was much better.

Two words: Breakfast Sandwich!…read more Cafe Duet is a great little spot tucked away by the Monroe County Courthouse. They have great coffee, pastries, small bites, and lunch options. The breakfast sandwich is phenomenal! As their menu states, it consists of "two organic eggs, split and grilled Spanish chorizo, sharp cheddar cheese and baby arugula on a fresh baked roll w/ a touch of sriracha mayo." The eggs are cooked perfectly! The contrast of the cheddar against the chorizo and sriracha mayo is wonderful and the peppery arugula comes through at the end. I would eat one every morning if my wallet/waist could afford it! The cafe is both large and small (you'll really only understand if you go) but I never have an issue finding somewhere to sit. In the warmer months, it's really nice to sit outside in their patio area. The staff is always accommodating and the place is well kept. Sometimes you wait a bit for things but it's never super long and they are pretty good at keeping you in the loop if there's an issue. Definitely a great spot worth checking out!

Some tables had ordered hot food like waffles and soups, which looked pretty good and we might try this place out for a snack or breakfast in the future. Interior is pretty with plants, a record player playing jazz, and clean tables and chairs. Service is friendly, interior is old world charm, coffee and pastries are great.
