May be a bit off track and hard to find at first, but it's a lovely place with polite staff. The vegetarian options are amazing and the food they offer is fresh and authentic. Would definetly reccomend if you're in Dortmund and hungry. read more

I lived in Dortmund for a year and knew before I left that I'd have to write this place an English review before I left. The place is VERY good. I come from an area with a lot of Indian immigrants myself so it was difficult coming to a place like Dortmund where it's hard to get diverse kinds of foods, but Sweet Chili definitely has a lot to offer. Great chicken Vindaloo, and they have no problem giving you a Sri-Lankan level of spice, though they can dial it down if you want. Great roti (no naan, this place is Sri Lankan), and awesome mango lassis. Dishes like the Chili Chicken Hot have always gotten the thumbs-up from friends, and if you want something you can't really get elsewhere, try out the Piddu or the Idiyappam. Well, they kinda seem like their only diffference is their shape but they're still good. Also, that Nana's biryani special is pretty great if you're feeling like a cool enough dude to stand the difference in price. read more

However, Indian food can be a bit expensive in Germany, and if you're down for something much cheaper and just as good, there are Sri Lankan places in the west of the city around Unionstrasse U-Bahn Station. That being said, awesome curry dishes (Madras became a new favorite of mine), great naan, and generally great service.

Oh je "Jawohl. So lob' ich mir das." würde ich selbst nicht formulieren - klingt nach Kasernenessen....Das Sweet Chilli hat damit rein gar nichts zu tun - Super-Nette Bedienung und ganz tolles, frisches Essen. Dafür, dass Deutsch-scharf trotzdem etwas sehr scharf war und für das Imbiss-Ambiente ein Pünktchen Abzug, aber ansonsten wirklich super! Gerade wenn man kein (Schweine-) Fleisch isst, kommt man da wirklich auf seine Kosten - Apropos Kosten: Alles ist sehr günstig und auch für junge Leute mit kleinem Geldbeutel sehr geeignet. Ich empfehle Veganern das Freitags-Special: verschiedene Curries auf einem Bananen-Blatt serviert - köstlich!!! Fleisch-Liebhabern empfehle ich die tollen Lamm-Gerichte - ganz zart und ohne Stall-Geschmack ;-) btw: Ist das nicht ein Sri-Lankaner??? read more

Das Sweet Chili liegt etwas versteckt an der Rheinischen Straße und bietet eine sehr gute Auswahl indischer und tamilischer Gerichte. Diese sind tatsächlich nicht 'eingedeutscht' und schon deshalb auf jeden Fall einen Versuch Wert. Das freundliche Personal berät gerne bei der Auswahl eines Gerichts und bietet die Möglichkeit, den (teilweise sehr hohen) Schärfegrad der Gerichte selbst zu bestimmen. Sehr nette, freundliche, aufmerksame Bedienung, die die Besonderheiten der ungewöhnlichen Speisen erklären kann und immer gute Empfehlungen hat. Die Deko ist nicht wirklich stylisch aber sie ist ganz ok. Und nun zum Wichtigsten: das Essen ist wirklich exzellent. Die Portionen sind mehr als ausreichend und der Preis gering.
