Pizza dough needs salt, pizza sauce is bland, needs flavor, dough is too doughy needs a lil more time in oven.

New owners. They have Jim's recipes. Their side today was what you'd expect of Sweet Basil's. Delicious. Floppy. Flavorful. Soft. Perfect. I wrote this half way through my slice. I got to the crust, it is very thin now. I loved the thick soft almost bagel like crust. But the slice was still delicious. They plan to experiment with their recipes as they are from another pizza place. So once they start that, I'll be back to compare. If you like a certain item make sure to voice your opinion to them. Give them feedback.

The pizza is delicious! It has a really undercarriage, strong and a really good crunch. The service was quick and friendly. It is a small and cute local pizza shop. We got the lunch special which includes two slices of pizza and a drink for $7.99!

I was so hungry I couldn't wait to take a bite

Great place, been coming here for years ! My go to spot when I'm just craving a slice of pizza and something quick. They older guy working here is always nice. Don't forget to add the special sweet basil powder and chili flakes!

I am a Jim recipe purist of sweet basils pizza. As of right now sweet basil is now under new management. At present, the original pizza that people knew sweet basil for, is sadly gone. The bread is not nearly as sweet, the cheese and pepperoni taste different. The bread/crust were surprisingly soft, so kudos to the new team for that. I tried the pizza DAYS after new management took over, and that pizza tasted like bland dominoes pizza. I'm excited to say it's much better, but still lacking that signature sweet basil taste. I'm not sure anyone will ever taste the same signature Jim's Sweet Basil pizza again, but I'm surprised to admit that I will be supporting you guys until I can taste improvement and something resembling a unique delicious flavor. I'm a company man. Good luck to the new management and team, maybe I'll update in. Another couple months. Much love to you.

The Sweet Basil pizza with chicken was amazing! The ingredients were fresh and delicious. The antipasto salad and caesar salads were fresh and the portions were generous. An excellent value!!! The associate was friendly and the service was excellent.

Ask the Community - Sweet Basil Pizza

Hours on Yelp were updated 3 months ago and says will be open at 10 am. I'm here & they're closed?

    Do they deliver?

    No, they do not.

How is the chicken, not the wings but the whole chicken? I love broasted chicken but want to make sure it's actually broasted.

Hi Lorrie, our whole chicken is our second best selling item following our pizza. We cook our chicken in a pressure cooker to a golden brown. The chicken comes out moist surrounded with a slight to medium crisp.

To be fair, I didn't know if the place was open or not as the windows and doors are not visible to the inside so I wasn't sure when they are really open. It is a family owned restaurant therefore I expect many changes when they need to make changes such as closing early on certain days. I was a little late to the table so I didn't get a chance to really study the menu but I really wanted to try the sautéed chicken with penne because it sounded like it would be super indulgent with butter as the sauce. I ordered a full order as they also had light orders which is half the portion at a reduced price. But I was hungry, and it also came with garlic bread or bread and butter. It did take a while for food to arrive, I think we aren't used to a long wait since usually bread would arrive first. My aunt and uncle got soup (minestrone) served first so maybe if we ordered salads we would've gotten them before the entrees too. The Alex special pizza came first as our entree and boy the crust was crispy! Lots of toppings and the cheese pull was amazing. Parts were a bit hard to chew but only after it's been sitting for a while because when it was fresh it was crispy, then soft and chewy. My sautéed chicken dish came after and it was hot! All the plates are hot so be careful! So hot my uncle burned his mouth on the stretchy cheese from the lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs. The chicken and mushrooms were so delicious, I ate all the mushrooms first and even used the pizza crust to soak the extra butter from the penne. The garlic bread and bread came really last, at least it was fresh so it was a good wait. Yes there's a lot of butter oil, but I expected it when the dish on the menu said to choose a sauce which was butter or olive oil. We didn't get dessert because we were so full! We had plenty of leftovers for another meal. They gave us boxes and a pizza box to take our food home. I really want to try again with my parents and others, the dessert menu sounds like a great selection of Italian sweets but what I really want again is the bread and butter. It was so good, the butter was salty which really makes it a star.

They seated us at a window which was nice so kids could see the Amtrak Surfliner go by (it went by 2x), along with Metrolink and at least 2 long BNSF freight trains. We shared: Garlic Mizithra pasta (with bacon and mushrooms): 8.5/10. Don't get much brown butter flavor, but the mizithra cheese, bacon and mushroom have a nice salty roastiness that is very pleasant. Meat Lovers Treat pasta (which comes with 1 sausage, 2 meatballs, and meat sauce): 9/10. Very enjoyable red sauce pasta. Kids especially liked the sausage, meatballs were tender, sauce tasted fresh and not goopy or pasty. Sicilian Garlic Cheese bread: 9.5/10: totally satisfying; basically a pleasant and non-industrial tasting french bread pizza with a slightly chunky sauce served for spooning or dipping. Fresh bread: 9/10: a mini french loaf, piping hot and fresh, with whipped butter and they even gave us an extra loaf to take home (so really 10/10) Each entree comes with garden salad (ours was very fresh, and I really enjoyed the balsamic vinaigrette), bread and... Free ice cream! 9/10: what is not to like about a free scoop of vanilla or spumoni with dessert. The spumoni does not have nuts, only artificial nut flavor, so people with pistachio or other nut allergies probably don't need to worry. I have had better spumoni but it was still pleasant. I was surprised that I liked this place this much. Service was excellent, exceptionally friendly and attentive. In sum: pleasant, comfortable, accommodates kids and big groups well. And value is excellent: salad, pasta, bread, garlic cheese bread, soda, all of this cost of $66 (incl. tax!) + tip. The portions aren't gigantic but totally satisfactory. We would have sat in the bar, but there was a large group scheduled in there, so we sat in the dining room. Next time we'll try the bar room. The things that stood out were their delicious, rich sauces. The flavors were spot on. They cook their pasta perfect to my family's taste, with a bite (al dente), but done enough that it's not chewy or floury. Fair prices. And yummy desserts. We really enjoyed the tasty Crab Cake app. We all liked our pasta, particularly me, who had the Mushroom Ravioli with the same sauce that comes on the Beef and Mushroom Ravioli. I think there was a Mushroom Ravioli special with a different sauce, but they did it with the sauce I really wanted to try, which was much appreciated! We enjoyed the Spumoni pie--Spumoni ice cream with a graham cracker(?) pie crust. They also made us a traditional Affogato, because that's what my dad likes. But I want to try their version next time. I'm really excited to go back and try their pizza. We'll get one with sausage, since the sausage on my dad's pasta was really outstanding. I also want to try their Caesar Salad. Looking forward to my next visit!
