1/27/24- Roger gave an estimate to replace the Chase Cover on my chimney. It was to be stainless…read moresteel with drip edge all around and 2 new storm collars. 2/19/24 - Roger installed the new stainless cover, however, there was no drip edge and he didn't replace the 2 new storm collars as stated in the quote. He also installed the new cover over top of the existing rusted chase cover. He used galvanized screws to attach and also attached them from the top down not just on the sides. This causes a divot in the metal for a place for water to pool and the screws have already started rusting. There is now mold growing on the side of the chimney below the cover because there is no drip edge. The calking job looks like a 2 year old did it. 10/31/24- Roger came out to discuss my problem, went to the roof and stated one of the storm collars is gone and other than that he saw nothing wrong said it was fine. I stated I wanted my money back, that I had contacted multiple companies and nobody EVER puts a new chase cover over an old one. I also contacted Baltimore County Code Inforcement who also stated that this is an incorrect install. When I said I wanted my money back Roger said "That ain't gonna happen" I then stated he would be talking to my lawyer. He said if that's how you want to handle it, and left. I would never do business with this company again, EVER. Very dissatisfied with this company.

Wow. Where do I begin. Mark Huber built a deck for us. He actually told me that he "fired" the person who helped to build the deck because they didn't do good work. After weeks and 3 separate occasions where he said that he would come to assess the problem, he did not show and did not call to say that he wasn't coming. After getting sound legal advice we called him one more time and asked him to correct his mistakes. He did come out and fix the pickets almost 3 months after it was built. Since then, we have discovered a portion that is a part of the support of the under side of the deck that was simply never attached. We have also been forced to replace all of the top rails due to safety concerns, less than a year after it was built. One of our children was nearly injured by a portion of the deck that had split off and was hanging down from a top rail. I have once again contacted Mark Huber to ask about the metal support that was never attached and the remaining portions of the deck that we were forced to replace ourselves. He apologizes, but takes no responsibility. I can't wait to finally seal this deck. When it is in 1 piece. I would not recommend this company to a single soul.

My experience with Sweep-A-Chim was very positive. A recent roof inspection turned up problems with my chimney; the metal on the cap was detaching/curling and some mortar was missing. The first company I contacted spent a few minutes on the roof and then told me I needed a new liner, chimney cap, and pointing/tucking of the chimney to the tune of several thousands of dollars. They showed me one photo of the cap, which was similar to what the inspector had shown me. The rep from this company also claimed that I had a lot of standing water although nothing was visible in their photo. Sweep-A-Chim was recommended to me by a co-worker who has a wood burning fireplace. My chimney is for the HVAC exhaust. When I called to make an appointment, they had workers in my area doing another job, and they sent their team over the same day to inspect the chimney when they were finished with that job. Sweep-A-Chim's technician went on the roof but told me that they could not see the liner from the top. He (Kevin?) showed me a number of photos of the chimney. He said that it wasn't visible in the photo, but the cap was well sealed against water even if the edges were curling. He also showed that there was some mortar missing, but that somewhere in the recent past, that the chimney had been re-pointed/tucked because of the differences in the color of the mortar and the top cement piece - don't recall the term - was newer. We then went to the basement where they removed the flue and ran their cameras/mirrors up into the chimney. They showed and told me that the liner was in good shape, and didn't need to be replaced at this time. Sweep-A-Chim's recommendation was to add some silicone to the cap to provide an additional seal, and use something similar for the missing grout - all of which was quoted as a few hundred dollars. I was comfortable with the quality and professionalism of the inspection to hire them. A different team came out to do the work; I believe the owner was one of them. When he looked, he decided that it would be better to nail the curled edges of the cap back to the top, and he also did the mortar. I was shown numerous photos of the completed work from all angles, and I was satisfied that everything was completed as described. It's been several weeks, but so far everything is holding up from what I can see at ground level. I've already recommended Sweep-A-Chim to two other people and wanted to thank them for a positive experience by posting here. read more

I am new to this area. I used another chimney/fireplace store, who completely sold me an older unit (that I didn't know at the time) and did some chimney work that caused problems. I called Ingelnook/Sweep a Chim and they were wonderful. They fixed my problems, and gave me solutions for issues with my chimney. They were here a total of 3 times. Very professional and HONEST!!
