Dr. Jim Sweeney is rated at the top of Nashville's various lists of best in this field; that, plus my first few minutes with him, convinced me I found the right guy. The headline news is that my X-rays, which I looked at with him, showed a fusion of vertebrae from the lower/middle part of my neck down to below the shoulder blades. This has already limited my flexibility in terms of swiveling my head left and right. While not an immediate inconvenience, this condition will worsen to the point that neck surgery will likely be needed down the road, unless treatment begins now. This is the best chiropractor in Nashville! If you're looking for the best you found it. I have had neck issues (reverse curve) for almost 10 years. I've been to many chiropractors but none of them seemed to be able to solve the issue. When I saw that Dr. Jim offered dry needling I was interested in trying a different approach. At the moment I am exercising regularly and my neck can often feel very pinched and sore after working out. Since I've been seeing Dr. Jim the pain is gone! Besides the fact that dry needling is really effective, Dr. Jim is also the best adjuster I've ever had. Prior to Dr. Sweeney I could not walk, stand, or even sit without pain and every step I took felt like hot pins piercing my lower back. The two specialist I saw told me that I needed surgery however; neither one could guarantee that I would fully recover without zero pain or resume my active lifestyle. When I mentioned to them that I was going to try a Chiropractor, they told me that I would be wasting my time, money, and I would be back in a few weeks for surgery. Dr. Sweeney was able to see me the following day, he did a consultation, X-rays, and developed a treatment plan. He rest assured my nerves that I had a bulging disk and it could be fixed with intensive therapy. Well that was three years ago and to this day I have no regrets. Dr. Sweeney is the best chiropractor I have ever seen. He genuinely cares for his patients. Omg, the first time I ever step foot inside his clinic was on a rainy Saturday in February of this year. He was the only chiropractor open on Saturday's and I was having severe neck pain. My husband found his clinic info online and insisted that we walk-in. Otherwise, I probably would have never known of his clinic or found him. Dr. Sweeney immediately recognized the source of my issue/pain. He was able to explain the source of my issue in such vivid and understandable terms. Upon adjusting my neck, I felt like someone flipped a switch and the pain/pressure rushed out of my body like a tidal wave. I was almost in disbelief because my two day headache ceased in that instant. I walked around singing his praises all day. I will continue to be Dr. Sweeney's patient. I've been going to chiropractors for a long time and most chiros just want to turn and burn your appointment to make money and they don't spend the proper time needed to make sure you are getting enough care or the right care. This guy takes the cake. He is the shit. He's the best chiro I've ever had. He spends time with you to make sure you get the care you need. He has a passion for it and it shows. I had a pinched nerve in my neck after a concussion and he fixed me right up. He's also funny as hell and is a pleasure to be around. His staff is also incredible and very nice. Recommend him 100%. The lovely three people that handle reception work are always so kind and somehow always remember everything about you; Brandon checked me in without asking my name the SECOND time I ever went there so they genuinely make you feel like you're part of a little family. I worked with Jim and I only met his brother (the other chiropractor here) once but even so I know for a fact they are both so sweet! This is by far one of the best places I have been to since living in Nashville (which I'm not a fan of, but they may have converted me. Lol). From the time I walked in the door I was greeted with lots of energy and positive attitudes from the receptionist, mom, and dog. The atmosphere in itself actually made me want to sit there and just hangout, but seeing that the only problem I had was that they unfortunately are Michigan fans and I'll have to work hard to convert that type of behavior to Michigan State University sooner or later . I went to see Dr. Jim at Sweeney for a pain in my lower back that had become so bad I could no longer get through a normal day. To do anything was excruciating and as a mom of 3 kids, it made our day-to-day life really difficult. After just ONE session with Jim 80% of my pain was completely gone. I was walking, bending down to help my kids, holding my 18 month old easily, driving, etc. I was amazed at how much his adjustment helped! I came to Sweeney Chiropractic and Dr. Jon in March of 2020 doubled over unable to sit, lie down, or stand without severe pain. This was the second time in two years I had thrown my back out. This time it was bowling of all things... My former chiropractor wasn't open on a Saturday and I needed relief fast. I'm a fitness professional by trade and had spent the previous 5 years using all my yoga, strength, and corrective exercise training to try to fix my back, hips, and legs. I was not thriving in my active lifestyle, I was barely surviving, having to severely downgrade my activity just to keep from being in excruciating pain. I had even experienced depression from not being able to do menial activity when I used to be very athletic. Dr. Jon simply asked me if I wanted to keep living this way? I said, "no." Awesome place! Came in because of some numbness in both arms and hands. The doc worked on me for a bit and my left arm has felt better ever since. Nashville's BEST! Possibly the world's best, but let's focus on the "why" behind my v bold statement. I first saw Dr. Jim back in the spring of 2017 after moving back to the area and having no actual idea of who or where to entrust my chiropractic care. I was experiencing "whiplash" from a car accident prior to my move. My previous chiropractor had been treating me with adjustments as well as electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). All I wanted was someone to trust with not hurting me, as I am small, and for them to offer the same TENS treatment. I read some background and reviews on the Sweeney practice, which at the time just so happened to be a block away from my home, and decided to give them a try. I was met with a charismatic doctor, a friendly staff (including Dr. Jim's mom who visits on occasion and is, by definition, THE most quintessential mom on the planet), and repeated relief from every appointment. For starters, Dr. Jim offers the TENS machine as part of the therapy - which typically comes after your adjustment. He also offers dry needling, which is a great option for pain relief or to improve range of motion. Most recently, I had been experiencing rather intense neck pain and normal adjustments weren't offering relief, so Dr. Jim recommended I try cervical traction to try and decompress my neck/spine. After a few visits on traction, the pain was slowly dissipating. Typically, I react quickly to adjustments/treatments, but due to this neck issue taking a bit longer to treat, Dr. Jim decided it was time to switch to missiles. He recently added "cupping" to his already extensive arsenal of care techniques. The marks you see in the attached photo were from a couple hours after my first cupping session. It looks wicked, but trust me when I say, I've never felt more loose and relaxed. The suction of the cups pulls blood to the surface (which results in the circular marks) and allows for increased blood flow/pain relief/etc. - and the best part is that it doesn't hurt one bit! Not during nor after - those marks never were sore or painful to touch - so don't let the photo fool you. I've referred many friends and family to this practice, and I will continue to do anytime someone mentions needing a chiro. This place really took care of my needs and made me feel like a real person, and not just a number. I had some leg and lower back pain that Dr. Jim took great care of. Being a Crossfiter I had overdone some lifting and had a nerve bothering me and hindering me from lifting in the best form and way. Excellent excellent chiropractor. I was in nashville for a month with my husbands jon and hurt my neck carrying our 5mo old boy all day. I really didn't want to go to a chiropractor being new in the area and not knowing who to trust. I hate getting me neck cracked but after 3 days of pain I trusted the other yelp reviews and went to see dr jim. Glad I did. His nice receptionist fit me in the next morning. Dr jim was very nice and professional. He asked me lots of questions and explained in detail what was causing my Pain and how to fix it. He also asked how my experiences with other chiropractors went. He let me know my neck and shoulders would be sore for a day or two, and they were but I healed a lot faster. The best decision I've ever made and I'd like to share a little story about my experience before and after visiting here. A few months ago I began having pain in my mid-upper back and right side of my ribs. I went to my GP and had several tests done to determine what the problem was and she found nothing. She sent me off to a gastroenterologist who again ran more tests and found nothing. They basically chalked it up to, "we can't find it, must be in your head." I was really discouraged and didn't know what to do so I figured I'd try chiropractic outside Doctor recommendation. After one visit where we discussed my problem, thought of what would be going on, what might have caused it, and took X-rays Jon did my first adjustment. Within HOURS my pain that had been bothering me for months was feeling so much better. (The staff, docs, and office are all extremely nice as well. I never write reviews but this family and establishment have to be recognized. I previously went to another chiropractor and I felt results at first but then they suddenly stopped. I came to Dr. Jim and he is the best doctor I've experienced he actually gets to know you outside of being a patient. I had a presentation and I told them about it and my next office visit the entire staff asked me how it went . It's these things that make a great business the small things. The ladies at the front desk are nice and sweet. His mom is very nice and has even taught me a couple life lessons in my time coming. I started as a patient here at Sweeney Chiropractic in May 2015; because I was involved in an awful automobile collision. I cannot say enough great things about these two Doctors, when I walked in, and when I say walked I mean hobble, in for my first treatment I was in awful shape, I could not stand up straight, I could not walk in a straight line. Since that first treatment, they have gotten me back to "true MMI"- in common words they have gotten me back to the life I was used to living, very active and working out with my personal trainer. Since my very first treatment both Doctors have treated me like family. I came to Sweeney Chiropractic because I had been experiencing some bad headaches and neck pain. After taking some X-rays, Dr. Jon quickly identified the problem and thoroughly explained to me what needs to be done. I've been struggling with back issues for over 4 years now. A disc herniation led me to back surgery 3 years ago. I wish I had known about Dr. Sweeney then. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago when I was faced with spinal fusion surgery after an MRI reported multiple disc herniations. After trying 12 weeks of PT, spinal epidural injections, and other chiropractic care I was headed back to the dr worse off then when I started treatment. As a last ditch effort, I googled chiropractors and spinal decompression therapy. Dr. Sweeney popped up and the reviews were too good to not try. I went in pretty weary but Dr. Jim totally changed my life. After a few weeks of spinal decompression I started to have significant pain relief and a better quality of life. I was a little skeptical at first and didn't really know what to expect the first time I visited the Sweeney practice. But, from the first step in the door to the treatment and the time I left, I was completely blown away with the friendly environment, professional staff, and of course the Dr.'s extensive knowledge and ability to treat my lower back pain. I am a personal trainer and from years of lifting and playing sports I will occasionally get lower back pain. I have had lower back pain for about a year and just decided to live with it. I don't know what I did, but one day out of the blue, I stood up suddenly and that nagging pain shot up to a "this is not something anyone can live with" level. I was going out of town the next day and knew I needed help quickly or I'd have to cancel that trip because I could hardly walk. I called 3 different chiropractors (from friends' recommendations) to see if they could squeeze me in for a last minute emergency appointment. No one had any availability. Finally I looked on Yelp, and after reading glowing reviews, I called Sweeney Chiropractic. The receptionist, Ruth, was a ray of sunshine on a day that felt very stormy. She was sympathetic, positive, and accommodating as she scheduled me for an appointment that afternoon. When I arrived, she cheerily greeted me, as did Dr. Jim. After filling out paperwork, Dr. Jim spoke briefly with me about my back, but I could tell he already thought he recognized what was wrong by what I said in my paperwork, I assume. He mentioned something about "compression" causing my pain and had me lay on my stomach while he did some thing with the bottom of the table I was laying on to stretch my back. It felt good, and he said this wasn't going to be a quick fix, but require regular therapy to solve. My time with him was about 5 minutes speaking, and 5 minutes on the table. It felt a bit rushed, but because I was a last minute appointment, I can understand that. Then Ruth hooked me up to a machine that sent electronic impulses to my back while a laid on a my back on a table that had a roller going up & down like a massage. When it was done, a new woman unhooked me and directed me to get up. This is when my 5 star experience began dwindling to 4. It's hard to explain the interaction I had with this woman, but it wasn't good. I wouldn't say she was rude, but she certainly didn't carry the same kindness Ruth or Dr. Jim had before. I just felt kind of dismissed by her. She directed me to wait in the lobby where I sat for about 8 minutes. Things had clearly gotten busier since I first arrived, and after sitting in the lobby for about 8 minutes, Dr. Jim walked by and told Ruth that I was done and needed to schedule another appointment. He was speaking "of" me rather than "to" me. I would have appreciated if he gave me some follow-up, like explain exactly what he saw was wrong with me, or stretches or something I could do until next time, or even just a "I'll see you next time". Instead, I sat needlessly in the lobby when apparently I was done. I spoke with my friend, whose chiropractor couldn't fit me in for a same-day appointment, and I'm going to see her chiropractor instead, so I cancelled with Sweeney. My friend was surprised they didn't do an x-ray to confirm what the real problem was. All in all, I appreciated Sweeney for accommodating me that day, my back DOES feel better than it did, and if my appointment ended the way it began, I may have stuck with them. read more

I was deathly afraid of chiropractors until Dr Jim convinced me to let him work on my back. Which I really did need to be adjusted and worked on but was terrified as I had a very bad experience in the past. Dr. Jon Sweeney was our chiropractor in San Jose and we miss him terribly. He is the best!!

I've been going to Dr. Sweeney for a few months now and I have experienced significant improvement in my headaches. He cares about his patients and really takes the time to talk to them and care for them on a personal level. There are many chiropractors out there that are really only concerned about how many patients they can get, this is definitely not Dr. Sweeney.
