First off, this facility is absolutely stunning with a full gym, a large room for yoga and meditation and several rooms for reiki, acupuncture and more. In the lobby, there is bar seating and a cooler filled with health conscious drinks, a small shop with different teas, lotions and supplements and two gorgeous waterfall installations that make for a serene, calming experience while you wait. I have prior experience with reiki but this experience was like no other. Before entering the room I would have my healing in, Ceres cleansed my aura with rose water, Florida water, palo santo and she was even nice enough to use some instruments for sound healing since I had arrived to my appointment early. When entering the room, I noticed a large panel above the bed I would rest on. Ceres explained that she would administer red and blue light therapy to enhance the process. Ceres made me feel relaxed and welcomed. She gave me great insight afterwords and helped me make a purchase after describing my stress and goals to reduce it. The wellness center has ongoing events that they post on their social media. I look forward to going back in the future and definitely would highly recommend the center if you're in the area! No prior notice was provided, no attempt at remediation, and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused. This asymmetric policy framework--wherein patient compliance is strictly monitored and penalized while the provider assumes no responsibility for its own operational lapses--raises serious concerns regarding professionalism, fair dealing, and the implied covenant of good faith. One might reasonably expect a "medical" establishment to demonstrate at least a baseline commitment to honoring appointments or, at the very least, to notifying patients of cancellations in advance. Failure to do so not only breaches patient trust but potentially exposes the practice to reputational risk and claims of inequitable conduct.

The point of the matter is I was not informed before or after the procedure what were the expectations this time or the depth of treatment that was done that day. She also stated that because my face was so inflamed she could not tell if my scars due to the procedure would fade or not. This is after I stopped by your place of service and was told this was "normal". Even after the 48 hours I still couldn't touch my face due to the pain. My face is worse than it was before I went in for the procedure. I have reached out directly, twice and I still haven't gotten a call back. My only complaint is that they seem to have high staff turnover, which means you're dealing with different people each time. On my most recent visit about a month ago, I was told that NJ law now regulates who can do IPL, and so now it is only done by a medical staff member. Consistent with that (and everything else lately) prices did go up a bit, but after checking around in the area, they still seem reasonable here. Dorota is now the exclusive technician for photofacial. This was my initial session with her. She was thorough in trying to understand my problem and to advise realistically about the procedure and expected results. As I said, I'm not a photofacial newbie, but I appreciated her attention to detail and expertise. She was careful about my comfort and ready to meet me where I was at when I requested that she use high intensity. She was also thorough in the treatment, and I felt that she really tried hard to hit all areas of my face, which I appreciated. I have zero complaints about Dorota. She was great. Unfortunately, my results this time were less than impressive. I don't know if that is because I've reached the end of efficacy for the photofacial, if there was something different about this laser, or just what... I get the IPL to treat brown spots and uneven skin tone. In the past, I have had really amazing results where the areas darken and "scab" and then the discoloration seems to flake right off leaving renewed skin. This time I had almost no darkening and minimal results. I am aware that IPL photofacial is not a science and results can vary greatly. It was just disappointing that something that has worked so well previously did not perform equally well this time. Because of the lackluster results and the price increase, I am not sure that I will keep at it. In the past, I've had prescription bleaching cream that did nothing. The initial IPL was very effective at lightening my dark patches. The spots are still visible, but maybe they are "too light" for the machine. After this summer, I will likely re-evaluate. In sum, I recommend this spa for the facilities and the staff. If you've never tried IPL photofacial and you are dealing with discoloration, this might be what you need. For reference- I'm fair-skinned but tan easily with some freckles.

If this were a month ago, I would have rated this place (in Fair Lawn) five stars because of how…read morethey helped me six years ago when I was having back issues. It took a few visits to the chiropractor and a lot of massages but eventually, my back healed. Recently, after a very unfortunate visit to a physical therapist at another outlet (where they seemed far more interested in making money at the patient's expense and less in treating people like they weren't disembodied dollar signs), I decided to go back to Select Wellness. Given my very positive history with them, I thought this would be a shoo-in. A month ago, I started experiencing some recurring knee stiffness and slight soreness following strenuous workouts at the gym. Yes, I'm old but I've always been in good shape and have always exercised. The first PT told me I had a slight swelling in my knee (which I didn't see--she told me I wouldn't but she could as she's trained) and suffered a mild knee sprain from "wear and tear." Well, the PT at Select Wellness was very condescending. She laughed at me that I didn't see the swelling (yeah because the protuberance is so obvious--RME). I ignored her jabs as I wanted to focus on the healing. I have to say her initial round of exercises were helpful. But again, I really don't need for someone to be nasty toward me because I don't have a trained PT eye when it comes to swelling. I just wanted my knee to be on the mend--that is all. On the third session, she didn't even take me (and naturally, Select Wellness didn't even tell me about the change beforehand as I'm clearly just a number/a meaningless abstraction to them) but farmed me out to an aide or fellow PT. Good god. He did an exam on me that didn't even seem to take account anything that my regular PT had done. I'm not even sure the regular PT even wrote anything down regarding her work with me--that's how much I was a second thought to them and the office (probably because she can't earn as much money from me). Anyway, this guy examined me and was astonished that someone of my age would be in good shape. Yeah, I'm old but not THAT old. Then he had me do a series of exercises like squats, which my first PT at the other office told me NOT to do. He also put for some unfathomable reason decompression tape on my knee and told me to leave it on the next day. And then to top it off, he made very ageistic cracks about me--that my condition was a result of aging and eventually I would need a knee replacement like him. Forget about the fact that I did NOT tear my meniscus, tested negative for ACL and ligament injuries. Anyway, I took that tape off later that night as I found it put too much pressure on my knee. You know what ensued from the squats and all the exercises he forced me to do--intense pain and soreness, which I didn't have when this whole thing started! Now I need physical therapy for the physical therapy. If you want to feel like a number and have arrogant PTs make fun of you, then go here. But please don't. You know what really upsets me about this whole experience, even with the arrogance and the ageistic jabs? I still trusted them based on my past history with Select Wellness. And now I feel my trust was violated. Again, please avoid this place like the plague.
