When my agent booked the room I asked for King size bed. I…read moreknow European hotels have a reputation for being small. My room was quite comfy but then when I got the bill it was a "suite"! My travel companion had the standard and it was 2 twin beds, no flat screen TV, tiny bathroom, etc. I had to laugh because I thought my relatively spacious room was cramped. People were very friendly. It was the tail end of a long business trip so I pretty much just ordered room service for meals. Loved the fish and chips although I had better at a local pub but for a Holiday in and room service, piping hot and great crispy batter! The mushy peas had too much mint. Elsewhere I had them with subtle mint and I think a bit of lemon squeezed in and actually like them. Chips were actually better than elsewhere. When you ask for a beer, they don't mess around. A pint seems automatic... which was quite fine with me! Front desk was uber-helpful. I brought the wrong power plug. My travel partner didn't bring any at all. We got loaners without a problem. I got a candy bar every time I walked by. (I'm not sure what it is about Europe and the Mars bars but okey dokey... you offer me free chocolate I'm not going to say "no") Pleasant, uneventful stay... oh!.. and the windows open! (I love fresh air and particularly like a nice cool room to sleep in so that was a bonus)

Swift check in and check out. Clean rooms, no fuss. Every traveler's dream…read more Dropped in for a night to attend EDC London. Would've been ideal had the TV dealt with my check out, and even better had my calls to room service been answered. Sadly, this knocks a star off my ratings. Fair warning: HInn is one of the farthest from MK Central among a cluster of hotel properties. A hike (uphill, mind you) could take up to 20 minutes. Add to that luggage and the summer heat, one's better off taking a cab. Plus side is that the town shopping mall is just 5 minutes further up the main road.

The more familiar hotels nearby, however, had no rooms available and the reviews for Jurys Inn were good. Arriving by train at Milton Keynes Central, it was only a fifteen minute walk. Convenient. Luckily, the weather was really good that day. Checking in couldn't have gone any easier. It was quick, efficient, and the staff were very friendly. Our room was quite comfortable and not claustrophobic at all. The bathroom had a decent amount of space as well. The beds were very comfy but the comforters were really nice, soft and warm. People take towels from hotels all the time, right? What about comforters? No, no no, I didn't. We only stayed one night but it was a good night. We did have coffee in the bar the next morning while waiting for a friend but we missed breakfast service (ends at 10:00am). We hung around the hotel lobby for quite a while, even after we had checked out, waiting for another friend to join us. The staff were fine with that, and even recommended their location in Prague, our next destination. We booked it online before leaving. I preferred the Milton Keynes location but would stay at either one again.

The hotel and reception and housekeeping staff were perfect. All wonderful. However, the same can…read morenot be said of the breakfast waitresses. On the first day all I saw were pork products which I don't eat and scrambled eggs which I don't like. Bearing in mind that I recently stayed at Holliday Inn Leicester and had poached eggs cooked to order for breakfast, I asked a waitress, can I order two poached eggs please. She looked at me like there was something wrong with me and blankly said no without expression. I said pardon? She repeated a cold "no"! At this point I said can I speak to the chef please? Another waitress came out. I said are you the chef to which she replied no, we don't have one. I walked around to reception stunned and told the receptionist. She said they are unable to make you poached eggs as we have no chef and the scrambled eggs are bought in ready scrambled and warmed up. Ewwww! On the second morning we arrived downstairs to the most enormous queue. We assumed it was people checking in or out. It was a queue for a breakfast table. The dining room was so disorganised due to lack of management or supervision that there was obviously no-one to delegate. All the tables were absolutely filthy as was the coffee area and they couldn't manage to clear them in time for people and had caused a queue. One woman said they had been stood for 40 minutes waiting to be seated. No juice or bread anywhere in sight because they were so busy trying to clear tables that the food was not being topped up. This had a knock on effect of another queue just as long in the serve yourself area. On the second morning all I heard were men. They were saying they wanted a refund and were going to make a complaint. Again, because they found it preposterous that there were no eggs for breakfast and were saying eggs come as standard etc. That 2nd day there weren't even any warmed up scrambled eggs as the day before. We waited around half an hour for vegetarian sausages. We waited 10 minutes for juice and bread to be replenished. There was no decaffeinated coffee or tea available. As you can see by the photographs attached, the tea and coffee stations were highly unsanitary. So much so I asked a waitress for a cloth to clean it myself. She brought a soaking went cloth from the kitchen which was then expected to mop up all the overflow and spills and didn't even have the sense to ring it out. I spoke to her and she snarled at me don't shout at me. I said I'm not shouting. I am hard of hearing, this is my natural voice and how I speak. (And it was). The dining room staff do not have a clue and are running around highly stressed and angry with no delegation or supervision and they aren't upto the job requirements. They were also super rude. Then, the one that no customer wants to hear. "We are short staffed". This is neither my business or problem. Don't put that onto me. I came away to relax and I don't appreciate excuses. Short staffed? Hire some more and get a kitchen manager at least if you are choosing not to employ a chef, although really they could do with 2 chefs, 2 kitchen hands, 4 waitresses and 2 to replenish the stock. The job could have been done with the staff we saw running around like headless chickens with no order or routine in sight. I dread to think of the levels of sanitation in the kitchen and it's such a shame as the rooms were clinically clean and the housekeeping staff adorable.

We arrived without a booking so paid £79 for the night, usually cheaper when booked online & in advance. However the receptionist was so helpful it was worth the extra money. The room was clean, nicely decorated & lovely & toasty. The bathroom was clean & with plenty of towels & the tea/coffee was plentiful. Its hard to find this place as it has Days Inn on the outside not welcome lodge!…read more We enter reception, there is an irate customer getting more furious and has obviously been grossly misled during booking. We ask how to get to our hotel, a very uncaring assistant informs us THIS IS IT, they don't have a sign as it is for "Their discount bookings which is for the old motel type rooms at the front" Now starting to understand the customer to our lefts anger. After generally being one of the worst hotel receptionists of all time we discover we do have a booking here and they will sort us out, once they are done telling the other customer how its "not their problem". We then start are own arguments about how much we are paying for our room, this went on for some time but we had proof printed so eventually sort it out. Once we are happy we are paying correct amounts and getting what we expected we are given two of the most well used breakfast vouchers known to man. I should point out we are paying about £20 for this room so not expecting too much but this is still a HUGE disappointment and this is merely the start! We ask if there is a bar " Yes it is open until 23:00". We make our way to our room, these are doors direct to the car park in a two tier stack like a movie motel. The balcony is so full of cobwebs it feels like we have entered the set of Raiders of the lost ark. My friend struggles to open our door partly due to a worn lock and partly due to the door handle barely being attached, after reception and now this we start to giggle and wonder what we have got ourselves into. We enter the room and its fairly basic and seems fairly clean, not the end of the world. It is hotter than some saunas i have encountered, we open all the windows and start to unpack. At this point i notice there is a tv and no freeview box so no tv to actually watch. My friend goes to the bathroom and i hear a few noises and increasing laughter as i discover i cannot plug my camera charger in as the desk is to close to the socket to allow the charger plug to fit! I then discover the laughter is due to the towel rail being as loose as the door handle and various items in the bathroom being broken, missing etc. I take to the bathroom, by this time both rooms are filled with laughter as the list of disasters continues to add up, with a crescendo being that the toilet paper holder comes off in my hand and my friend tells me he put it back for me to share his amusement. We return downstairs, the bar has just bottles, we sit watching tv amusing ourselves greatly with the experience so far. The bar maid informs us the bar is open until 23:00. As we purchase our second beer the receptionist appears and informs the bar maid the bar is now Closing at 22:00, its 21:58! However we can buy beer from reception if we wish!? The bar is about £3 a bottle, reception is £4 after some argument we tell them to stuff it. Back in the room we search for alternative plug sockets, none but the desk area, however upon sitting on his bed my friend with a smirk asks me to try the plug at the far end just to humour him. IT FITS PERFECTLY!? The desk is so sloped the space is greater one end. This brings us to tears, realising the tea cups are vastly different sizes there is one biscuit, coffee, tea bag all for two people, so many issues i forget. Our hopes were not high for breakfast. We queued for some time, awaiting breakfast trays to actually have food in them, a young lad who appeared to be running the restaurant alone seems to have little to no idea that anyone stood there actually expected a breakfast! We handed over our poor excuses for vouchers and put acceptable things onto our plates. The coffee was worse than AWFUL. I took my cutlery and that only left a knife, We asked for a fork, which led to the highlight of our stay, " No mate, and i am not sure what i am going to do about it to be honest" was the reply. We were no longer surprised by anything but a restaurant with no FORKS, i advised he would "Need to get MORE forks!" We glanced behind us to a line of raised eyebrow customers now all wondering how they would eat with no forks. We sat to eat and my friend tried to eat a fry up using a piece of toast to little success. A lady from another table passed us a fork as they had a spare one! However a couple of breakfast items were actually tasty and enough to keep us going till lunch time. I am not sure how to summarize this review really, it was very cheap and you get what you pay for? We did not die, we laughed so hard my stomach hurt and we continued to laugh for about 3 days after and still discuss it now. We decided that we would actually stay there again sometime as the price was right, it was a good laugh and we almost want to see if it could be that awful consistently!
