Each time I have been very pleased with the service, atmosphere, and of course, the quality. Fringe is located in the heart of Penngrove and is easy to miss if you've never been there, but I think their lowkey location is why they're successful. I love Fringe because it is not one of those uppity salons that overcharges you and has a holier than thou attitude towards you and your hair. Fringe has an at-home feel and is attentive to your needs at a reasonable price. A few weeks ago, I saw Brittany at Fringe. I asked for a natural root color with a freshening up of my blonde highlights. She was able to do exactly what I wanted and it looked so healthy and beautiful when she was done! She was a great conversationalist and was extremely professional. I would recommend her in a heartbeat. Fringe is definitely one of the best kept secrets of Sonoma County salons. I've been coming to this salon for almost 10 years, and they do great work--which is why this…read moreexperience was so disappointing. I called on Tuesday to book a color appointment and was told the colorist was on vacation, with Friday or Saturday as the next available options. Friday didn't work for me, but I was told Saturday would also be available. I also would've been willing to change my Friday plans to make this all work out. I called back Friday afternoon to follow up and lock in a Saturday morning appointment, based on what I had been told earlier in the week. Instead, I was told they couldn't accommodate me due to the Butter & Eggs Festival. I also received feedback that calling at 3pm when they close at 6pm wasn't enough time, which didn't make sense given that I wasn't asking for a same-day appointment--I was continuing a conversation to schedule ahead. What made this more frustrating was that I was trying to work within the availability they had already given me, but the expectations kept changing. While they did offer Sunday and recommended other salons (which I appreciate), that wasn't the point--I was trying to book within the options they initially provided. After this, I actually called again because I had rearranged my schedule for Sunday, hoping to still make it work. At that point, I was told Monday was the only option available. Unfortunately, that no longer worked for me due to work and moving to another city. I also spoke with the manager. While she was apologetic, it didn't feel like there was much effort to actually find a solution. She offered a new stylist that probably wouldn't be comfortable doing highlight but invited me for a Sunday appointment consultation to get me in. She acknowledged that scheduling and communication have been ongoing challenges there, which I appreciated the honesty around--but as a long-time client, that was also difficult to hear. This appointment was meaningful to me. It was intended to be my last visit before moving, and this is a salon I've trusted for so many important moments--engagement photos, weddings, graduations, and even just times I needed to feel like myself again. That's why it's especially disappointing to be ending on this note. I've always tried to be flexible and understanding over the years, but this experience felt like a continuation of inconsistent communication and shifting expectations, without much effort to meet me halfway. I understand that events and staffing can affect availability, but clearer communication and follow-through--especially with long-time clients--would go a long way. I'm genuinely upset.

I go here specifically for Tara, she's amazing and does a great job dying my ginger hair any color I want from brown to pink. Tara always gets my hair the exact color and style I ask for and is always honest with me about the process. The salon is quite lovely. Has a very boutique vibe. They have a little snack, bar and drink bar for everyone. Everyone who rents a spot or works there seems very friendly and professional. There's usually always parking right in front or across the street. It is downtown Cotati, though, so depending on events, the parking can be a little rough, but I've never had an issue.
