Great new concept in Copenhagen. Play a round of boule and have dinner afterwards - or vice versa…read more The boule lanes are right next to the tables, so it's easy to combine them. You can play on your own or get a guide to help you with the game. We had a guide to give us a quick 2 min rules intro. He also helped by serving drinks and snacks. Very helpful and attentive. The food is of course French. We got the classic moules frites and pariserbøf (not so sure if that's actually French). Both were very nicely presented and prepared. Not huge dishes, but definitely enough for us. The fries were wonderfully crisp. So good marks for the food. The wine was, on the other hand, not that impressive. We had the Bourgogne, which was not up to par, when you put it up against its 590kr prince tag. So many better Pinot noirs out there. Too weak and without character. A real Frenchman wouldn't serve that wine. The service was also a bit under par. We literally had to wave and walk towards the waiters to place an order. Mind you, there were only 4 occupied tables and 4 waiters. They were highly interested in their computer, which they were all looking at, but not at us. The head waiter had an impressive skill where he was able to stand about a meter from us and not notice that we were trying to get his attention, but looked right through us. They should really pay more attention if they want to make some money. I almost wanted to give a 3 because of the poor service, but the food was fine and the service at the boule lanes were excellent, so they get a 4 (more a 3,5)

Obviously the marshy land around was terraformed through massive military engineering, beginning in 1620, with the distinctive star shaped citadel and surrounding moats being complete sometime in the late 1600's. But they allow tourists to just walk around...if I didn't know see other tourists around, I would have felt very uncomfortable...like I was in a place I wasn't supposed to be. I came in from the south via the bridge (where vehicles would also come in, sharing the road with pedestrians). One can go up to the ridge and see around as well. I walked out through the front bridge, which had been blocked so only walkers could come in. There are a few artifacts inside the fort, representing the history of this place as a protector of this city during history.

Instead, as I came to find out, it was more like a park. First walking through the front gate, you are greeted by these two long rows of buildings that line the street. But, as you continue to walk around, that is all it really is. Nothing super exciting, and borderline boring. If you do visit, the main thing you should focus on is the walk along the walls. You get a nice view of the surrounding area. It is really cool to see the walls from on top, and you get to see the various fish in the moat surrounding the fort.

It's just as enjoyable to wander through as it is to ride anything. The moment you step inside, you're surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens, charming pathways, and incredibly detailed decor that changes with the seasons. Whether it's twinkling lights in winter or vibrant blooms in summer, Tivoli always feels magical. What really surprised me is how many great food options there are inside the park. From casual snacks and pastries to full sit-down restaurants, there's something for everyone. Most of it is genuinely delicious, not just theme-park good. It's easy to spend a few hours strolling, snacking, and taking in the atmosphere. Overall, Tivoli is one of those iconic places that really lives up to the hype. Even if rides aren't your thing, the ambiance alone makes it well worth a visit.

The staff are awesome, though I've only ever worked with Shamir. He's patient and understanding, and he drives his classes hard (which is good). After class he'll sit and talk to people about their experiences and offer advice. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the crowd, the pricing, and the cancellation policy. To be fair, I go to the Sunday afternoon class, but it's so crowded that you often touch the people next to you when you're doing a wide pose. It's nearly wall-to-wall people. Plus all the additional people make the room even hotter and more humid. I almost passed out last class and went through my entire 32oz water bottle. People were dropping out of the poses like flies. The costs are nuts. A drop-in class and towel/mat rental come to 275dkk... for an hour-long class. Maybe this is standard for hot yoga in Denmark, but it felt unreasonable to me. I signed up for the membership thinking it would be cheaper, per class. I see other reviews about a 14-day trial period, but I wasn't offered that. The once-per-week class is ~480 and I bought my own mat at Tiger. The mats they have there are expensive - I remember the towels they have running 400dkk but forget the mat purchase price. And lastly, the cancellation. I'm moving to another gym because work gives me a discount. There is a cancellation fee at HYC of 89dkk, AND you must pay for another month. I was not told this when I signed up for the membership, because I assumed they would be more customer-friendly. So it's almost the end of August, and I have to pay for all of September as well. I went back and asked for my membership to end at the end of August (since I didn't know if have to pay for an extra month), and the email reply was like "I'm sorry you were unaware of our cancellation policy." ...ARE you sorry? I feel like there's no technical reason for them to be unable to end my membership in August, right? I mean you just hit a key and it's done. They have it specifically built that you must wait a month. It's very frustrating. Either way, I suppose I'll ride out my month and keep sweating it out before I say goodbye.
