Suzi Cue is a classic staple on campus. It's got a large interior with a bar on the left side and tons of pool tables. They recently added a small platform in the back that acts as a stage for when they want to host live bands, though it's not something they do super often. The bathroom is very dive-y and located in the basement. They have tables that take quarters if you're just looking to play a game or two, or hourly tables that you can rent at the bar if you want to hang and play for awhile. Service at the bar can be kind of hit or miss as far as it being a little slow at times, but it is what it is. The main reason to go there is to play pool. Lots of regulars head in multiple times a week to play. There are a few other spots on campus with pool tables, but this is the only true pool hall. I'm sure I'll be back in with friends soon to play a game or two. read more

Great pool bar. Went here for the past two years. The staff is fantastic. The person at the door can be hit or miss. It's doesn't reflect the business or owners opinions. $1 for a game, can't beat it. Get there before 7 and draft pitchers are $6. read more

This is the best Surprise of OSU. You get a free hour of entertainment every Tuesday and Thursday. Just go to the bar, and tell them you'd like a table, with your student ID the hour is free. On top of the pool tables, they have darts, Ping-pong, arcade games, and a bunch of boardgames. The crowd is very calm and it doesn't get real rowdy here. I am not a big fan of pool halls, normally, and I love playing pool. There's something not soothing about having every dude in place that serves booze size you up while they try to figure out how much cash you really have on you. Some pool halls are inherently more shady than others, and when on pool-shooting date recently I did not feel like dealing with shady. So i drove us to Chalkies.... or at least to where Chalkies used to be. Unfortunately it is now a jeans store. And so it was on to Suzi Cue. I wasn't so sure about the choice pulling in, but did notice that the giant crater of a pot hole had finally been fixed so I was hoping that the place was OK these days. A few years ago I was warned by an insider about some of the guys that hustle in there, moving Suzi Cue up the shady scale a few ticks. We walk in, everything is well lit, clean and not as crappy as I remembered at all. Nobody appeared to be getting hustled. The tables are pretty nice (although the back right 9' table is sloped way more than a pool hall table should ever roll). the decent beer selection is reasonably priced and the pool was only $8 for what seemed like and hour - 1.5 max. Awesome JukeBox (sorry to the guy that put his $2 right behind our 16 songs. I hope you got hear your stuff). Kinda freaky basement bathrooms. There isn't even a sign on the "Men's Room." After wandering through this places basement and finding "Women" scribbled on a wooden stall wall I just kept going and found only one unmarked door. I had made a habit of going here a few times on saturday nights, and loved. It. Cheap drinks, Plenty of tables (albeit a bit of a wait for them sometimes). Until last night. I was waiting for my girlfriend downstairs by the bathrooms, which are really sketchy and not safe to walk alone. I leaned up against a wall only to see that it was a door, I went to close the door and I'm guess a passerbyer saw me doing this. When I went to leave I was confronted quite agressively by the bouncer who said "I Heard you were fucking with a door downstairs, dont come back here if your going to fuck with our doors". I proceeded to explain that I was closing the door and he got even more agressive saying " I dont give a fuck, dont come back bro". I have never been kicked out of a bar, business or establishment. I certainly have never been cursed at by a "professional" employee. This is unacceptable, Its too bad too because I really liked the place. read more

This is a great business. Super dog friendly I bring my dog here all the time and they have treats and you can ask for a water bowl for your dog. Plenty of pool tables. rarely ever have to wait for one. Except i took a star off because one bartender will ignore customers for fifteen minutes straight. Ethan the bartender has ignored my male friends for extreme amounts of time and served female customers instead. He also seems to do this with random female customers. I think it is great for ohio state to still have a pool hall and just as awesome to have a bar located off high street that isn't corporate owned trying to extract as much money out of the students pockets as they can. As a bar they do a pretty good job. Their bartenders are well trained, consistently friendly, and pretty attentive. They keep their cans and bottles cold, have a decent selection, and some good drink specials. Don't know about what is on tap since I am not much of a keg drinker any more. Their shots are healthy and their mixed drinks are ok. Service time depends on how busy and how many are on duty, if you gotta wait its cause their busy not because they are sitting on their can. They can work and talk at the same time. As a pool hall they are decent. It is better to have a sea of tables than to wait for your quarters to come up at the lone table or two at your standard campus bars. They do hourly and by the game. Their cues aren't bad, they fix or yank what isn't good, tables in generally good condition. Juke box has a great selection but it is over priced and you are stuck listening to whatever and whoever loads it up. Would be nice if they could just load it up themselves and let it play on shuffle. The crowds skew on the younger side unless they got a tournament going on or the alumni are back in town. Honestly they got a diverse group of hipsters, metal heads, hippies, frat boys, regular joes and janes, and just about everyone in between. I have never had a problem with anyone here over the years besides being annoyed by an obnoxious drunk from time to time. This place is a good value for drinks and billards. read more

I have been to two pool halls in my life. The first one was in Groton, Connecticut. I don't remember its name now, but it was host to plenty of my late high school (and post-high school) after-work shenanigans. Blasting DMX, shooting pool (terribly) and watching fights break out... it was good times. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I've finally stepped foot in another pool hall. Suzi-Cue was that pool hall, and it blew what little preconceived notions I had out the window. Suzi-Cue is a clean, well-lit, chill, friendly place with a BAR. Yes, you can drink while you shoot pool, as Jesus intended when he founded this great nation. You can also play by the hour or just pump quarters into automated tables. OR you can shoot hoops, OR you can play the complimentary SNES over by the couches. OR you can agonize for hours at the jukebox. We were here for the lady's birthday and I dare say it was one of the best times we've had celebrating. Reasonably priced booze, billiards, NBA JAM, Nine Inch Nails on the jukebox, whoops, did I do that? My only minor half-complaint is the bathrooms: that shit down there is straight out of Silent Hill. If there was a mega-mall that sold creepiness, it'd be somewhere past those bathrooms. BUT even this wasn't so bad as to remove so much as one half-star. I can't hold creepy bathrooms against a place from which I live across the street. If I couldn't jaunt home for privacy should I deserve it, this place might suffer in ratings for it- but I don't, so it won't- so sue me! Git there for the happy hour if you want $1.50 Bud drafts. I know I will sometime! It was obvious from this first (of hopefully many) outings that I need quite a bit more practice before I can be a professional pool shark. read more

Fireball Fridays. I could literally end my review right there and it would justify the 4 stars. As far as bars in the area go, Suzi deserves all the awards. Diverse group of patrons, free pool on T/TH for students, and cheap strong drinks. Never judge a bar by it's cover - the strip mall location by a sketchy convenience only adds to Suzi's charm. Come here often, be a regular, and enjoy the conversations. There are two things that irk me about the place: The jukebox. It is hardly ever on. While it's awesome to enjoy a drink and pool in quiet, it would be nice to have some generic tunes on once in awhile. Yeah, you can feed the TouchTunes and have music, but I don't have $10 to waste on 5 songs. There are beers to buy, people. The bathroom. In a dark dark dungeon. But I promise, it is 100% safe down there! Okay, maybe like 99.9% safe down there, but it is still so sketchhhhhh. I think may actually boost Suzi's appeal, haha. I came here for the first time a few weeks ago for my friend's birthday. I had no idea what to expect. I've lived across the street from this place for months and hadn't made my way over to scope it out. I stepped in and noticed how clean and awesome this place is. There's a jukebox in the back bustin' out the tunes, a giant screen with a Super Nintendo (we ended playing NBA JAM for quite some time) and of course, plenty of pool tables. They have tables that are coin operated and they have hourly tables. I suppose it just depends on how fast you are at the game. We went with the coin operated tables since we were playing at a snail's pace. The bar near the front has friendly staff and everything you could want. Except for MiddleWest Spirits vodka. They said they'd be carrying that great stuff in a couple of months. Yeah! I really loved this place and am so glad I decided to go and check it out. Deep in heart of campus a long lonely stretch named 4th street takes in the evil shamrock towing and party goers seeking their indulgences of the night. You may have only glanced at the ghostly buildings that stand on this street as you race down towards hudson seeking your final destination bar or residence. But slow down before you turn on those afterburners and check out the heart warming joyous pool hall sacred to those that live in 4th street's canopy. Enter Suzie Cue........ located around 17th and 4th, it is obviously not a place to bring your prom date or to hold a business meeting, that is unless you are in the business of COOL! 10 pool tables with 1.00 games each, fascinating people of 4th, over 7 gleaming television screens playing any sport from football to basketball, music for hours, and did I mention a world beer tour in which after you complete (no simple feat) gets you a $20 tab that you and your hooligan friends cause you to sing the night away. Personally, this yelper is friends with the staff and has seen a fair share of people come and go with smiles on their face. Although you may feel the looming presence of the seedy outside calling you, Suzie Cue is packed with classy gentleman and the minority of college students. You said you wanted a cultured bar? Last night on my adventure I learned that it is also a local hotspot for pregame crew soccer games from a dazzling bartender named BK. Worst pool hall I've been to... Ever. I'm an avid pool player and went here for the first time for a monday tournament because some friends were going. I won the tournament and was told by the owner to leave and not come back, when I asked him why he just said "Because I said so" and was being a complete douche. On top of that the pool tables were the WORST I've ever played on, table 2 looks like someone was murdered on it... With a screwdriver. With a mix of rental-play and quarter-play tables, Suzi-Cue meets the needs of those seeking all night pool or just a quick match. Their specials on buckets of bottles are great for large groups. Particularly large groups preparing to depart for the nearby Columbus Crew Stadium in advance of the US v. Mexico World Cup Qualifier -- such as we were. On that note, they do well to cater to the soccer crowd which is a double plus. They don't have food, but seem ok allowing you to bring in stuff from King's nearby. I arrived around 8:00pm on St Pattys Day 2015 with my girlfriend to meet up with several friends already at the pool hall here... This is the second time I've patronized Suzi-Cue in about 2 years. All together our group was about 7 people. It's important to note that I have never been kicked out of a bar and all of my friends are classy, quiet, "know our limits" type people. We are also slightly older for drinking on campus- but still cool enough to blend in. I myself am 29 years old for example. All of the sudden, in between games while waiting on a new round of drinks at the bar, we are standing at our table with two stacks of quarters queued up- a large older fellow with a blinder hat and green shirt comes over, uses his own quarters, and starts racking balls- as if we didn't exist. He took his sweet time too. Altogether about 2 minutes. We just assumed he was drunk and completely out of it when one of our friends approached the man to kindly explain that this was indeed our table. The man casually (yet oddly) brushed it off and said "I'm racking it for you". Then he walked away back to the bar to drink... It's important to note that we all thought it was odd and we had no idea who this man was who racked our table for us. About 20 minutes later in the middle of the new set (that he racked for us), the man comes back and grabs all the balls and ruins the game- we basically all say "excuse me, man!?" He says... and I quote: "I am the owner of this bar and I am kicking you all out." We calmly and patiently asked for a reason why, to which he responded: "I am the owner and I have no reason. Finish your drinks and leave now." He said "I am the owner" probably 10 times. Only digging himself deeper... Certainly he had something to prove. So I went up to the bar and confirmed that the man is fact the OWNER- as the bartenders and staff are acting like they are scared to death of the man. "Sorry man"- the bartender whispered under his breath while frantically closing our tab. Needless to say we thought it was one of the strangest experiences at a retail establishment- the bartenders and staff were tipped well before we politely left- laughing at this grumpy old man who thinks he is king of the world. Sadly, he and his employees lost good business. One of the employees even begged for our forgiveness ourside as if her boss was her crazy father who "sometimes does this kind of thing". I'm pretty sure this poor girl covers his drunken behavior with apologies and acts of kindness more frequently. Interesting quote: "We try to keep him away from his bar for this reason." So there you have it. Only patronize this pool hall if you want to give money to an angry, rude, and illogical business owner. There are also better pool halls in Columbus anyway. I sincerely hope this owner doesn't do the same thing to you or your group- especially if your group is very drunk or hot headed- Colin would be in over his head. He got lucky yesterday or specifically picked the classiest group to "do his thing" on. None of this is made up or exaggerated. I will never patronize this place again as we all have a high level of animosity for Colin O'Bannon (the owner). read more

I have never been treated so poorly at a bar, especially when I was with a large group of paying customers. We decided to go to Suzi Cues on St. Patty's day. We decided to start the night there and move on when it got later, the first couple of us arrived around 6:30. We got our first round and started to have a pretty good time, the prices were good and the place wasn't packed. So we call up more people. When there are about 10 of us we are easily the largest group there and we are being great patrons, busing our own glasses to the bar, staying close to our table, and being overall respectful. Most importantly we are all paying for drinks. A couple of us go and grab a round only to have this portly gentleman come over and rack the balls for us. I assume that he worked there and was rewarding us for our business. It turns out that he is the owner. He goes back to the bar and sits down to have a drink. He was already a little drunk. About 5 minutes later he comes over and pushes all of the balls into the pockets. I was stunned. He starts telling us to finish our drinks and leave. When we ask him why he tells us because "I am the owner". He tells us this a few times and then accuses us of stealing! I have never been so insulted and embarrassed at a bar in my life. He won't tell us what we "stole" and then proceeds to tell us he is kicking us out because we annoy him. Unacceptable. Purely unacceptable. We finish our beers and go out front where the manager comes to apologize for Colin, the owner, and asks us to come back some other time. The manager tells us this has happened before and there is nothing she can do about it. He is the owner. Upon seeing how large our group was, she asks if she can calm him down would we come back in? We decided to spend our money elsewhere. This is not the first time I have ever been there, but I assure you it is the last time I will ever go. It is generally a good place to play pool and drink but heaven forbid you go and a drunk owner decides to ruin your night. read more

Suzi Cue is great. I work there now but before I did I was a regular. We always have cheap drink specials and if you have a student ID pool is free on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Also if you're a soccer fan we play all the games. (one of the few campus bars that actually cares about soccer) It's a great place to throw parties too... there's beer pong, foosball, obviously pool, cornhole, etc etc so stop by! :) read more

While most pool halls do little to shake off the stigma of being meccas for shady characters that'll do anything to sucked you out of a buck, I've never felt the least bit out of place at Suzi-Cue. It's in a pretty weird part of the off-campus area, and the parking lot has more than a few resident weirdos, but in spite of all that it manages to maintain enough of an air of respectability to keep me from heading for the hills every time my friends and I come here to shoot a round or two. Although the plaza it's located in is dingy and in a perpetual state of disrepair, the inside of Suzi-Cue is recently renovated and rarely as grody as one would expect a pool hall in the quasi ghetto to be. Most of the people that hang out here are the directionless stoners that were too lazy to live closer to campus when it came time to sign a lease and ended up renting one of the decomposing townhouses that line 4th and Summit, the two main drags in the area. You'll occasionally run in to a group of middle-aged weirdos that have been drinking away their unemployment checks out back since noon, but they won't bother you if you don't bother them. That being said, I wouldn't bring a date here, but then again I don't know who would take a date to a dive bar to play pool in the first place anyways. No judgments if that's your thing, though- this is actually a better place than any to meet a girl you met on craigslist at 12:30 at night. No one will ever know. As for the bar, it's got modestly priced drinks and does a more than adequate job of making it harder and harder to play a decent game of pool as the evening wears on. I know they have a happy hour here that involves cheap bottles of Bud products, but they can't be that much more expensive at night either. I might get thrown in to a trunk and left in the woods for saying this, but I always found it to be a classic move to go next door to the convenience store and load up on cheap wine to sneak in when no one is looking. What better way to play small-stakes pool than under the influence of strawberry-banana flavored Mad Dog from a paper bag, right? read more

This pool hall has everything I love.. Clean floors, decent tables, strong drinks, easy women, and even easier money! Seems to be a diverse group of people come here so you can always find someone to play with and "put some money on a game, you know just for shits and giggles.." Just be easy-going and nobody seems to mind losing too much. Well unless they catch you making out with their girlfriend when they come back from the bathroom.. surprisingly that didn't seem to go over as well... (And no she wasn't worth it..) I decided to check it out, at first I thought oh this is "The Ohio State U" thang, but I'm please to say that the place was great the folks were friendly and there was a good mix of a younger and older crowd.
