I went home and thought about how he replaced all my childhood filings a few years ago bc they had mercury. I called leaving a voicemail inquiring. They left a voicemail not answering that question. Question was never answered... Anyway, I had been eating more fruit so I went back asking about the sensitivity I'd been experiencing wondering about that filling he purposed I needed. Not only did he say that filling needing replacing but that I needed another filling AND a crown! He kept banging on my molar w a metal instrument which I thought was kind of rough as if he were trying to break the tooth. I responded w " No, I don't need a crown".. we went into a polite debate. I had more fruit after he sent me home saying he couldn't do it that day and the tooth seemed to bother by that Monday. Tancio wasn't available to address the tooth for another 3 weeks or so. I reached out to Dr. Randall Hashimoto's office who had a last min cancellation and were able to get me in the Tuesday. Thank God bc their wait-list goes into March of next year. So I go in and Dr. Hashimoto takes an x-ray to confirm no fillings or crown are needed. It was just tooth sensitivity I was experiencing from certain fruits. He recommended water after fruit and to consider sensodyn toothpaste.... His dental assistant w 30 years under her belt confirmed the same. The tooth sensitivity subsided with his recommendation. I won't be going back to Tancio. Thanks guys for being a practice of integrity! ‍

During the complimentary consultation they took x-rays and photos. After speaking to Dr. Choi and her treatment coordinator I decided to proceed with the treatment. The appointment for the braces was about an hour long, I patiently waited in the reception area. When the appointment was completed, the assistant called me to the back to join her and my son to discuss the details. The assistant went over the instructions for home care as well as went over informative videos. The videos went over foods to avoid, what to do in case there is an emergency. Appointments for his adjustments are easy to book. They even offer appointments by text. Dr. Choi and her staff are wonderful. I cannot wait to see the results.

    Everything from the other reviews talking about recommending overpriced items and shady billing…read morepractices is true. This dentist has been practicing for 20 years according to her website but somehow when my insurance gave her the answer that one of the services had a discount, she insisted she needed to be paid for that service somehow which meant REBILLING it as something else in order for the insurance to grant payment. My yearly maximum was already met which meant it came out of my own pocket. How someone practicing for 20 years can't get their billing straight is beyond me and seems incredibly shady. Whatever, maybe it was truly a mistake right? So next visit, I come back for some fillings and let her know that I was still having some mild pain in the tooth we had done a root canal/crown on last time. Upon hearing this, she freaked out and said she couldn't do the fillings (that I had put off until the new year so my yearly max could reset, so already been waiting months for this) anymore and that I had to go see a different endodontist to see what was wrong with the tooth before she could do the fillings. I told her I've been through this whole thing before. I have one implant already that had 2 failed root canals and I think I am just a poor candidate for root canal since they rarely seem to work on me. No big deal, I'm mentally prepared if I happen to need another implant down the line. I'm more concerned about my mouth as a whole and putting off fillings that have already been put off for months seems unwise in exchange for a tooth that is likely a goner already. Upon hearing this, she told me if I felt that way I could find another dentist to start on the fillings now. So I went to her referred endodontist and he confirmed exactly what I had known deep down, is that I'm likely just a poor candidate for root canals due to the genetics of my roots having multiple connected canals that are difficult to treat. I told him I'd rather not retreat the tooth at this time due to my past experiences and he said that was fine. Went home from this appointment, scheduled a new appointment with a new dentist and canceled my future cleaning with Ms. Chen. I was content to leave our story at that, but later in the week I received a message from her asking how I was doing and confirming she received the report from the endo. I didn't respond, but a few days later I received a CERTIFIED letter of "Termination of doctor/patient relationship". This is something I've never seen in my entire 40 years on the planet. Much Googling explains that it's usually reserved as a last resort for patients who refuse to follow medical advise or are abusive towards staff etc. etc. Here's the kicker though, it was postmarked the EXACT SAME DAY she sent me the message asking how I was doing. So my best guess is she sent the message to me, then one of her staff alerted her to the fact that I had canceled my next cleaning and she got miffed about it so it became a "You can't fire me, I QUIT" type of 'getting the last word' scenario. I did everything she asked me to, including buying one of the expensive electric toothbrushes she insisted was better than the caveman manual toothbrush I've preferred for years. I was never abusive to anyone and was incredibly calm and patient through many frustrating experiences, including during a procedure where she gave me practically 10 tiny shots of novocaine over the course of 45 minutes. She insisted this was the best and safest way to do it. I've been going to dentists my entire life and never had to sit that long to wait to be numbed. Her style is very high strung and afraid of something going wrong. She had prescribed me 5mg valium for the root canal and forced me to call my dad to come pick me up even though I've driven on benzos plenty of times in my life. It's not like she gave me propofol or something... Oh and I couldn't call an uber because the uber driver might do something to me (her words). She also talks down to her staff constantly which caused a lot of second hand cringe for me. Nothing they do is ever up to her insanely high standards, but the staff are all incredibly sweet. Lastly, she was bashing one of my previous providers because he didn't have 50 million 5 star yelp reviews. I told her yelp reviews don't mean everything, but since she seems to think they do, here's another one for the books. UPDATE: New dentist found absolutely no cavities and no reason to do any fillings or replacing of fillings (same as my old dentist before Ms. Chen). Thank god I got away from this woman when I did... She likes to brag about her expensive equipment and now we know how she affords it all.

Dr. Munira's initial diagnosis was spot on, and she recommended several fillings. The office staff was excellent, providing great call-back and administrative support (5/5). The fillings were performed by Dr. Tariq, and while the procedure itself went well, my bite felt slightly "high" afterward, making it difficult to chew. The office was very responsive and immediately scheduled a bite adjustment for the next day. However, it took two additional adjustments with another dentist before the issue was still partially there. I eventually notified Dr. Munira that the problem persisted after two attempts. She personally handled the final adjustment, which completely fixed the issue. She also took the time to provide a detailed explanation of why it required multiple visits to get it right. I am giving 4/5 stars only because I believe the bite should ideally be adjusted correctly during the initial appointment, but I truly appreciate the team's dedication to resolving the issue.
