Sharon and Marty Bartrom This lodge was wonderful. The staff was stupendous and so helpful. Darlene, was the most gracious hostess. Chelsea was so helpful getting us to the lodge. I HIGHLY recommend a stay there. When we go back, we will definitely be staying there. The rooms were spotless and very cozy and comfortable. AND...I just missed seeing a moose out of our window...twice!

Stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin. Comfortable bed and pillows. Lots of towels. Samantha at check in was super nice and fixed a booking error I made. Very accommodating. The cabin is VERY bare which in the winter is a big downside. No television so can't watch any of the movies available in the lobby. There is a total of 0 closets and 0 drawers so you can't unpack at all. Maybe put a dresser in the living room and the table and chairs in the kitchen. Nice stay for 1 night. Scenic on the river. Better spot for summer than winter.

Perfect sunset from our cabin!!

Such a stunning location! We stayed in the private cabins, it was perfect! There is a small kitchenette that works fir a day or two, to make something quick. The town is not too far of you want to eat out. They have board games in the main building you can borrow and enjoy the time away from the cities!!

This place is the best! We stayed in the lodge for 5 days and it was so peaceful. No alarm clocks, radios, or television in the suite. Exactly what we needed to unplug. The views are absolutely incredible, staff extremely nice, and the best part were the beds. So cozy and soft! We had a wonderful experience here and cannot wait to come back

Stayed here with several family members for a nearby wedding. It is not luxurious but it is cozy and comfortable. The view from the cabins of the river and mountains is really lovely and truly Alaska at its best. A few of us stayed up past midnight in the main cabin's living room watching the Olympics and sipping the complimentary coffee that was available. It was fun and even more fun hoping we didn't run into a grizzly bear on our way back to our own cabin.

Luckily this place is open year round-for those of you new to traveling here to Alaska many places are closed due to winter. I had a last minute trip to AK for work and was able to squeeze into this lodge during the winter months. Super friendly staff, I dealt mostly with Darlene who was talkative and helpful. You can either call the lodge or email them for a reservation and they respond within a couple of hours. I chose to book a full cabin for myself (I think it sleeps 5 and I was by myself). I am so glad I did! Very spacious and scenic-lot's of windows. If you are traveling with a group of females there is only one bathroom-so beware of your time management. This lodge sits right on the river, you literally can walk about 50ft and have the river at your feet and a great view of the Denali mountains. Coffee and tea are free in the main lodge. You can buy pop/water for a $1 and it's on the honor system. You can request a TV in your room otherwise you can watch TV in the main lodge in the community living room. There are DVD's you can borrow as well. They have a few trinkets for sale, like seal slippers etc. If I had an extra $145 I would have bought those just to say I had them! Impulse much.... If you are looking for a place to unwind that is far enough from city life but close enough for hiking this is your place! Prices are reasonable and there are restaurants in the area (I believe a breakfast place, pizza place, brewery and coffee shop-unsure if they are open year round). I wish I could have stayed another night, I slept incredibly well the one night I stayed.

Stunning. Drop dead georgeous setting on the river with a postcard backdrop of Denali in the background. We stayed in Cabin #4 and could not have been happier. Darlene & Howard have a gem here -- gracious staff, easy stroll to town -- even grabbed a coffee and a muffin at 4:00 am before we headed out fishing. Wow! What a treat. Highly Recommend.

Cabins themselves don't have TVs or much by way of HVAC (although there was a small heater that kicked on at some point).

Talkeetna Chalet Bed & Breakfast - The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft, but the 8 pillows were a lot to manage.

We all loved the cozy cabin and will highly recommend. We were in the Denali Room! It was cute and just had that Alaska Feel so welcoming! My texts with the manager pre-arrival with directions and entry instructions were clear and perfect. Didn't have to worry or fret - it was easy peasy! We didn't get to our room till 12:30 am. The welcome sign chalk board with our last Name led the way! Comfortable bed, beautiful room, dog/pet friendly, Small fridge, it was pretty picture perfect! Coffee pods in a Keurig ready for wake up! OH Did I mention the Homemade Banana Bread? SO GOOD! So I went to a client business meeting at Denali State Park and was so disappointed we couldn't bring our four legged friend to stay there. We had to do the meeting and then had to drive 2 hours+ to get half way home but stay close enough to get back to Denali. We wish we had more time to hang around but again this was perfect for the 2 day 1 overnight trip and we would do this again! Talkeetna you have a gem of a place! Thanks all that did what you did!

Talkeetna Chalet Friends suggested the idea of a quiet…read moregetaway in a part of Alaska we hadn't explored yet. We weren't sure we would join them as most cabins are pricey. We learned only a portion of the payment is taken at booking, and the rest is charged the day before check-in. This was not something we remember reading anywhere before the booking process. It would have made us more likely to book when someone suggested these cabins a year ago, knowing the total cost isn't due immediately. Affordability is always a draw! We had a nice weekend, though we were hardly in the cabin during our stay, so it was a fairly neutral experience overall--pros and cons to follow. Pros: **Minutes away from Talkeetna proper. **Military discount. **WiFi. **Plenty of outlets for charging devices. **Pets allowed (though we don't currently have any) @ +$25 per pet. **The cabin is small but uncomplicated; ideal for 2-4 people. **There was a cute personalized welcome sign by the front door upon arrival. **There was a lovely patio set for two that would be fun to enjoy if the weather accommodated. **It was beautifully quiet. (Minus the occasional train horn and the sounds of vehicle doors belonging to other guests at nearby cabins.) **The heat worked well **Open closet/storage shelf and stowaway luggage rack +4 hangers. **Comfortable queen-sized bed with soft sheets and a futon for sitting/extra sleep space. **Kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave, electric kettle, Keurig coffeemaker, and drink options provided for each. Some dishware was also available for use, and a 2-seater bar/eating space. **A nice full bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower and a plethora of towels, as well as a towel warming rack and space heater. The shower also contained a dispenser with shampoo, conditioner, and liquid soap. (Brand labels would be valuable for anyone with sensitive skin/allergies.) Cons: **Dust bunnies on the ceiling beams and cobwebs stretched between track lighting and the ceiling. We avoided using the ceiling fan for fear of displacing more dust when our allergies were already flaring. Dust lined the bottom shelf of the storage space and luggage rack. There was also a dried-up contact lens adhered to one of the bedside tables. **One of the open closet/storage shelves was loose, resting on the bottom one, so we lost a little storage space. We also wished there were more hangers for coats and sweaters. **Excessive pillows and area rugs/mats. We brought our pillows, so managing the 8 pillows on the bed, +futon pillows, felt like an imposition. There was also some sort of stain (oily in appearance?) on the sheets. We tucked away 2 of the more decorative mats during our stay (after slipping on one) because they were hazardous vs. practical without a slip-proof pad underneath. **There was more dust and web strings on the bathroom nightlight. We were excited by the luxurious towel warming rack, but it is mounted so low it seemed dangerous to put wet towels on as they'd rest right on the plugs. Using anything lower than the top rung caused the towel to sit on the floor. **Cabin kitsch. No disrespect intended, as everyone has their style, but this was a little overwhelming, particularly the number of wall hangings and patterns. It detracted from the cabin's existing charm and architecture. To reiterate, it was a nice weekend, though we were hardly in the cabin during our stay, so it was a fairly neutral experience overall.
