My friend invited me to Sushi Yu. She had visited this restaurant before, and knew how, and what to order. The service was excellent and the food beyond belief. Seaweed and Ginger salads were refreshing . Bowl of fried rice tasted excellent. Fried calamari was bit chewy but good, and I loved the fried shrimp. We really enjoyed those sushi and maki rolls with YamYam sauce. All I can say, this place is worth trying. We were fully satisfied and enjoyed our lunch. The restaurant itself was very simply decorated. Access to outside parking was easy. However, we had to walk few steps, because the parking is shared with other businesses located at this strip mall. Our order was $17.00 per person, and we got plenty of food, with water to drink. Nice. read more

The restaurant is small and cozy, and you're greeted by the host as soon as you walk in the door. They offer both sushi and Hibachi menus, but please note that there are no Hibachi tables available if you're looking for that dining experience. I wasn't, so it was all good! They have an all-you-can-eat sushi dinner for $25.99 per person. Although I wanted Hibachi too, I decided to pass on this offer, but I'll definitely try it another time. I ordered the steak Hibachi, which was cooked in the kitchen and came with delicious yum yum sauce. Overall, it was good and did not disappoint. My appetizer, the Pepper Tuna, was exceptionally fresh. Overall, I recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a fast dining option that offers the best of both worlds in sushi and Hibatchi. The restaurant was very clean, which added to the pleasant dining experience. While I was there, I noticed they were cranking out quite a few to-go orders--it's like they were preparing for an unexpected sushi emergency! Unfortunately, Sushi Yu completely missed the mark. The food was completely inedible and everyone in my party who ordered something, ended up sick that night or the next day! The soup was so watered down and tasted like unflavored green tea of some sort & the hibachi that I had tasted old, like it had been sitting out. Truly an awful food experience. read more

Stumbled across this place while on a work trip looking for lunch, I wasn't aware it was all you can eat, but was pleasantly surprised. Rolls are fresh-made along with several salads and appetizer choices. The rolls were basic but good nonetheless. The restaurant was clean and bright, server was attentive. My favorite part though was how nice the server was, it was the day of the solar eclipse, and she was letting patrons borrow her eclipse glasses to go outside and view. Chose this place for its high rating and was disappointed. Maybe their sushi is amazing, but the hibachi was average at best. They have only regular tables and do not cook it in front of you. My husband liked his shrimp, but those of us who ordered steak thought it was too peppery and too fatty/chewy -- not a high quality cut. Plus, why was there sauce in the hibachi? Isn't that what yum/yum is for? The waitress at first brought me a shrimp plate, which was not what I ordered, but I wished I had kept it. I sent it back because I was sharing with my 6 year old (they do not have a kids menu or smaller portion sizes), and she wanted steak. Took a while to get service also. And there was another section of the restaurant that could be a semi-private room that was full of boxes and supplies. We don't see a reason to rerun here. read more

Went here at 9:10pm on Saturday 9/28. They're open til 10:30. They still had their sign out front. Their front door was wide open. This is going great. Until I get inside and see 0 customers and 4 employees standing behind the bar. "We're closed." one said. "I thought you closed at 10:30?" "Yeah, we closed early." Let's start off with saying it's more of a 3.5, it's not bad, however nothing spectacular. It's sushi! We did like majority of the AYCE dinner rolls offered. It was $26 per person dinner, and $15 for lunch we believe. The price is a bonus, you'll definitely get your fill and more. Just the taste was basic standard run of the mill sushi. There was no extra flavoring in the sushi rice like real sushi. The place was clean and big with a friendly waitstaff. AVOID!!! Trash customer service!!! I made a phone order and paid over the phone and waited 10 minutes to walk inside while waiting for the food to be made! It didn't seem too busy but I assumed it was since the staff didn't acknowledge me as I walked in As I am waiting at the front desk for about 5 minutes a white couple walks end we smile and then a waitress brings them menus, looks at me, and proceeds to seat them. I thought nothing of it, until the waitress walked right passed me and headed back towards the sushi bar! SERIOUSLY?!! So you think because I'm one person or whatever you can just not acknowledge me. I walked to the back of the restaurant to where the staff were and asked for an immediate refund. Disgusting customer service, not sure if this was racially motivated or money incited because I'm one person and they were two. How we I deserve the same customer service! Good sushi spot, they seem to be consistent. They do have all you can eat sushi, no where else seems to. Staff is pretty quiet but it's pretty quick. The quality is good, but the more sushi you order the more they pack it with more rice. It's nice for a lunch spot. read more

The shrimp tempura roll is a must! It's so delicious and the eel sauce ties all the flavors together really well! The california roll was fresh and delicious. If you like cream cheese, I would suggest adding it to your california roll. It makes it tasty even better! The portions are pretty decent as well as the price. There's plenty of parking and it's located across the mall. The inside is huge and very room. The service was decent. They didn't have many servers, although they were quick with whatever was needed, which is a plus. read more

Yes! Another AYCE fresh to order. My diet didn't need this but I did. They're in Kennesaw near the mall, in that shopping center right across with all the random stuff like the bird place and dog store. There's a private lot for the shopping center that always has parking every time I've been. This place isn't huge inside but it's quiet and friendly. You sit down and they have an a la carte menu or a buffet menu. My grandma came too so I ordered a tempura combo which isn't on the menu but I told her what she wanted and they said they'd do it - so sweet of them! So if you have special requests, just ask. They might just say yes. We gorged ourselves until it hurt and there were no regrets. Maybe 3-4 rolls a piece. Who was really counting here? The spider roll is SO GOOD Y'ALL. Obviously, All of the 1 and 2 star ratings are people who were having a really bad day. First off, customer service is not horrible at all, they tend to run short staffed but if you go make sure you request AJ! She is the best server in the business and is very sweet. Sushi Yu is inexpensive and delicious compared to a lot of sushi places. It's for sure worth the cost. Sushi Yu tends to be overall cheap in my experience going there (I have been probably 40+ times). They have an all you can eat lunch special that is $16 on Monday-Friday from 11-2. The all you can eat Dinner special starts after 2 and includes more options than the lunch special. People who reviewed and who complain about it ending at 2 don't know how to read apparently. Nigiri, appetizers, soups, sushi, hibachi, and alcohol. All of which are worth trying at this place. 5 out of 5 without a doubt in mind. read more

The food here is good, but the service is pretty bad. We came early on a Monday and it was not busy whatsoever, but we hardly saw our server. Also, the AYCE is $26 for dinner (and all day on weekends and holidays) and $16 for lunch (only on weekdays). Definitely recommend, but don't expect this to be a quick spot. read more

Best All You Can Eat Sushi in town! There's so many options for rolls, appetizers, sushimi, and nigiri, and all at a great price! The lunch option is cheaper but much more limited, so I suggest going after 4 or on a Saturday/Sunday when they serve dinner all day. Just be sure to not over-order because they do charge for any uneaten sushi, as they should! It keeps people from wasting food. read more

The restaurant appears clean, and the servers are friendly. However, the food is substantially below par. The sushi roll rice was extremely dry and hard, and the contents were very dry too. I can't say that they taste bad because they really have very little taste. I tried two different rolls, and unfortunately, they didn't really taste different (they looked different). read more

I ordered a to go order. I was told 10 minutes. I sat down and waited, other customers came in and they were served their food. There was a table with six men obviously having the all you can eat sushi. They all ordered more sushi ate and paid their checks. All this time I'm still waiting for a simple to go order. They realized they never put my order in and No said anything or apologized for my wait. When he finally brought my order I expressed my annoyance and had already asked for my card to be credited. (Which she nodded at me and proceeded to ring several checks from the men. I have always enjoyed this restaurant and have never had service or been treated like this before. The biggest disappointment was the excuses and no acknowledgement of their mistake. A simple I'm sorry would have sufficed. I just took my food and did not let her credit my card. read more

I'm really on the fence about this place. I came several years ago for sushi and was underwhelmed. The sushi wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't memorable at all. What was memorable was the lackluster service and the place being empty despite what I would have expected for the lunch rush. I decided to give them another shot recently. It was empty again. I ordered a bento box from their lunch menu. My waitress told me that it would be $2 extra after lunch which was fine, but why only have it on your lunch menu in the first place? The box was pretty decent and came with enough food to make me feel like I got my money's worth. It came with shrimp, fried rice, California roll, and hibachi vegetables. The shrimp was decent as were the vegetables. The roll was good, but nothing to write home about - though I've never had a fabulous California roll in a bento box either. The fried rice would have been better if it wasn't half onion. I had to sit there and pick out these giant chunks of onion, more than I've ever seen in fried rice in my life. You can see one of the bento cups half full of the onion from my fried rice and vegetables in the picture. So overall, it's not bad I guess. I wasn't as disappointed as I thought I would be, but I'm also not going out of my way to come here anytime soon. I think I would need a compelling reason. read more

Visited Sushi Yu for the first time the other night to try their $22 all-you-can-eat sushi. We didn't come with very high expectations, but ended up being thoroughly impressed by the selection and quality of sushi offered at such a low price. AYCE SUSHI: The AYCE dinner menu includes a appetizers (miso soup, a variety of salads, etc), a large selection of regular and specialty rolls (not the full menu, but pretty close!), and nigiri. Each person gets a paper menu at the table, where you mark down the number and type of each roll you want. I had the eel nigiri, salmon avocado roll, Dancing Eel roll (shrimp tempura and cucumber inside + eel, avocado, and eel sauce on top), and Hawaii roll (spicy crab and avocado inside + tuna, salmon, eel, and avocado on top). SO MUCH FOOD, and all so good! They didn't skimp on the fish portions, and the rolls held up really well. *Would stay away from anything with spicy tuna- they use what appears to be tuna scrape, like most other cheaper sushi places. Stick to other fish, especially eel!* ATMOSPHERE: The space is large and appeared to be pretty clean when we visited. Lighting is a little funky- kind of a blue glow. My only real complaint is that they didn't have the music up loud enough...it was so quiet that we could hear other people's conversations, not cool. SERVICE: Our server was attentive and patient. Food came out pretty quickly. Bottom line, if you're looking for higher quality sushi in Kennesaw, go to Sushiology. But if you're interested in an AYCE option or want to get a better idea of what kinds of sushi you like, Sushi Yu is the place for you! Will be back. read more

I am from the bay are were there are a plethora of Sushi restaurants and competition is fierce so they tend to generous with fish in the rolls. All you can eat based on the cheaper fixings. Mediocre at best. Watery miso with lots of seaweed. The soup arrived with the calamari. Where it was before that only the chef knows. Seaweed salad that could have used more dressing. Very nice calamari and butterfly shrimp. The rainbow roll was "different". Yes it had salmon, tuna and probably tilapia but there was something not right. For sure the rice didn't have the proper vinegar mix and I think it was day old rice. Anyhow it wasn't at all satisfying. The avocado salad was nice but was mostly lettuce with really thin slices of avocado. Service was okay- not outstanding but passable. read more

$23 AYCE made to order sushi with lots of ample parking in the shared lot. We came here on a Saturday night. This is a very casual spot. We had 4 people and table was small and uncomfortable. You mark your orders on the menu and turn it in. We waited over 30 mins to get our first round of sushi. The menu includes rolls, appetizers, and nigiri. The menu says they charge 50 cents per piece of wasted sushi including rice. The menu includes 90% rice items and NO sashimi so it's very quick to get full. If you want sashimi, just order the yellowtail and tuna appetizers. The raw fish on top of nigiri was super thin. The sushi roll had some really sweet sauce on it that I had to pick off to eat the roll. The light soy sauce was so watery that it didn't seem right. Overall there was not a piece of sushi I really enjoyed and tasted fresh. It was not enjoyable at all. The miso soup was SO sweet and did not have any small tofu in it at all. I would rather eat sushi from the grocery store. It was difficult to get good service here. We needed extra napkins and was so hard to flag down a server. For this price, I really did not feel I got my money's worth. The ambiance was not great. It was dim and quiet without music. Unfortunately there is not a reason to return. :( read more
