This being said, this store has everything that you will need to make a great meal, grab a quick lunch, a fast drink, or get that other items such as cold medicine, bandages, or a cork screw that you need on the run. Speaking of drinks... This shop has a surprisingly good selection of wine. After buying some water and lugging it almost a half mile back to the hotel, I then found this location about a block from the hotel. Oh well. I did not shop here extensively, but we made use of it one morning to pick up a couple of items. They opened at 8 a.m. These are space-limited urban stores, not some 2-acre suburban American mega store. Understand that going in, and set expectations accordingly. I don't mean that in a bad way; they seemed to make decent use of the space they had, and their selection was fine. I was happy to find this chain existed. These seemed pretty common, so there could be one near your hotel or near close Metro stop.

I opted instead for Marche d'Aligre, reasoning that it featured not only a small flea market but also a farmer's market and a market hall. The guide I consulted described Marche d'Aligre as a spot for locals, featuring some of the cheapest produce in Paris. I can't speak to that but I did think everything - including the many meats, seafood, cheeses, and more in the market hall - looked quite fabulous. The swap meet? A little less so. The sole flea market thing that caught my eye suddenly jumped in price when I pulled out my cash but I did see one vendor actively negotiate with a tourist when she found a price out of her reach. That said, this isn't a flea market I'd set out for again; it's plaza-sized (maybe 20 vendors) and the offerings struck me as rather junky. If I had time for only one of Paris' great open-air food markets this isn't the one I'd choose despite the fact that I enjoyed my visit here.

Not sure what the relationship is between the Aligre Market and Beauvau Covered Market, but because they are literally next to each other. I feel they were the same/similar market. So this review will reflect that. The products/produce are so fresh and flavorful. Ripe. Meats, seafood, flowers, etc. Everything is so fresh. There is even a "thrift" shop market here?!?! Ambiance - Decent size, both indoor and outdoor. Again, I am connecting the two markets. Service - Good. Price - Reasonable. Expect farmers market prices. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.
