Very disappointed with Yakimono tonight. I arrived with my…read moreparents, wife, and children for a 5:30 PM reservation. When we got there, the area appeared to be closed off due to construction, which was confusing since I had a confirmed reservation. We attempted to navigate around the construction zone, and in the process, my 75-year-old father slipped and fell. Two young staff members came out and informed us that the only area open was the terrace -- but the terrace was literally in the middle of the construction zone. I mentioned we had a reservation, and one of them said, "Yes, the terrace is open." Really? It didn't feel safe or accessible at all. I told her the website didn't mention anything about the restaurant being under construction. She responded, "That's exactly what it says." I checked again -- it doesn't. It only states that reservations are for the terrace. There's no warning or mention of active construction or safety concerns. That's misleading and honestly feels like false advertising. No apology. No concern. Nothing. We left immediately and took my injured father and family to a different restaurant with far better hospitality. Yakimono, you failed today -- on communication, safety, and basic decency.

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.

We were a little disappointed that they ran out of salmon so we couldn't order any salmon sashimi dishes. We got skewers which were absolutely delicious! We also ordered takoyaki and okonomiyaki but there was nothing special about those. Wouldn't really recommend the okonomiyaki either. Would definitely recommend trying the Shrimp Burger and the Salmon Calcium (salmon pate).

We visited the restaurant for an all-you-can-eat meal and placed multiple orders throughout our visit. Unfortunately, a significant portion of the food we ordered never arrived. After waiting for quite some time, we asked staff about our missing dishes, but instead of receiving them, we were eventually told that the kitchen was no longer serving food. We explained that we had not received much of what we had ordered and politely asked if they would consider a discount since we were paying for an all-you-can-eat meal that we never fully received. Our request was refused. What hurt us the most was how the situation was handled afterward. As teenagers, we felt that our concerns were not taken seriously and that we were being taken advantage of because of our age. Rather than trying to work toward a fair resolution, the situation escalated to the point where staff threatened to call the police simply because we were questioning why we should have to pay full price for food that was never served. We never wanted free food or special treatment. We only wanted either the meal we ordered or to pay fairly for what we actually received. We left feeling disappointed, embarrassed, and unheard. I believe customers of any age deserve to be treated with respect, and I hope that by sharing this experience, it encourages businesses to handle situations like this with more fairness and understanding.

The decor and most of the staff and menu items have remained the same, though prices have increased (obviously) and there is no longer sashimi for lunch sadly. The food is pretty much on par with other ayce sushi places, though their presentation can be a bit nicer. I particularly like their eggplant sushi pizza, which is essentially a tempura eggplant with avocado and spicy salmon on top , with a flourish of microgreens for glamour. They have a few things that other places don't, such a hot and sour soup. Service is pretty good and the speed at which dishes come is pretty rapid. The ordering is now done all online, with your phone after scanning a QR code. The dining room is also quite spacious and they can accommodate small children if needed, and parking is ample. Overall a good experience but I think I'll stick to the places that do sashimi for lunch for a similar price.

Food: The flavor was subpar and the proportion of the sushi has far too much rice while the cuts are too thin/narrow. Cost: Considering that I was on vacation and the currency conversion was on my side, I didn't mind the price at all. For the variety that was offered, I think it was worth it. Service: The staff was extremely nice. Nothing but good views on them. Atmosphere: I'm a bit confused as to the vibes the restaurant was going for.
