Salmon Lover Roll

Overall this place is underwhelming. I think it would be a good takeout spot but not for dining in. It has good outdoor seating and the staff was extremely friendly! Bathrooms were very clean. Everything that I ordered was good but nothing crazy or special. Would probably order Togo next time.

Stoped by fir lunch and I was pleased with my bento box . Service was super quick and the portions were great. I will definitely be going back

Very solid! I chose Sushi Plus because it was one of the few sushi restaurants open early. The restaurant was empty on a Thursday (late) afternoon, which made sense for the time of day. The interior had a casual vibe with plenty of seating. My partner and I both started with Miso Soup, which was predictably good. For sushi, I ordered the Crazy Roll and Philadelphia Roll. Both were very tasty and had generous cuts of raw fish. I was impressed by the quality. The Crazy Roll pieces were large and messy to eat, but I didn't mind. My partner also enjoyed his sushi, especially the Double Double Roll. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall, would recommend Sushi Plus if you're looking tasty, no-frills sushi.

Delicious food, HUGE portions (we couldn't even finish our dishes even though we were both hungry). The chirashi bowl only cost $30. Service was a bit slow.

Only sushi place I found open at 3 :30 pm So glad I found this place , we ordered 6 rolls and tempura shrimp! We loved it ! Definitely coming back! Service was great!

Honestly this is the best sushi in the area, everything is so fresh and delicious. We have gotten take out and dined inside and outside and the service is always consistent, the employees are very nice. I do wish there was more space on the inside to fit our stroller but other than that everything here is amazing.

Nabeyaki Udon

Decent place for bentos. The prices are quite high but they do give you a lot of food on the bentos. The items are alright but I would only come here if I just happened to be in the area. Their nabeyaki is not the best. The toppings are not traditional and no runny egg. The soup was seasoned well but it lacked the namesake stone pot. Would go elsewhere for nabeyaki udon and bentos.

My wife and I recently went to Sushi plus (again ) in Redwood City and it was amazing. Gyoza is our go to appetizer. The BBQ ribs were seasoned perfectly and tender. The unagi roll and tempura udon was delicious. And my sake and beer was obviously really tasty. We sat outside with our dog as usual, and the vibe was super chill and friendly. The owners even came out to check in, which is always special. We're going to be coming back guaranteed.

Yummy! There are outdoor and indoor seating! Good for large parties or small parties. Sushi was well priced, affordable! Not only was it affordable, it was pretty fresh with larger cuts :)! Definitely will come again! Staff were very friendly and attentive. Come try for yourself :)

One of the best sushi bento's I've had in my entire life. the restaurant was a little small and not very upscale or newly decorated but it had its' charm. I saw lots of food delivery pickups within the time I was there for lunch on a Friday. I think the locals definitely recognize the star is the food. my favorite was the fried gyoza. They were bite size and the wrapping was thin and crispy. salmon was so fresh and even the miso soup was perfectly seasoned. staff was polite and quick to service, too.

Disappointed with their wasabi.

We really recommend checking out their off menu items (they will hand you a hand-written note when you get there) because the chef is just clearly so talented. Here are the highlights: * Ankimo Nigiri (off menu): Have to be honest, I was actually pretty scared to try ankimo (Google said it's monkfish liver - like who even dare to eat liver ), but I'm so glad I did. It wasn't fishy or difficult to eat at all, but incredibly rich and creamy. I'm obsessed!!! * Otoro (off menu): This was the star. The tuna belly was pure umami, super fatty, buttery, and literally melted the second it hit my tongue - really recommend ordering this one * Lobster Roll (off menu): As a girl who's on calories deficit, my body screams for help when I found out it had shrimp tempura (I tried to avoid fried food), but this roll was so damnnnnn savory! It's made of lobster, shrimp tempura and a combo of eel sauce, spicy mayo, and tobiko - no need anymore dipping sauce cause they were just phenomenal * Kaisen: This was a refreshing roll - made of tuna, salmon, hamachi (yellowtail), and white tuna. Shiso (perilla) really enhanced the flavor of the fish and brought fresh taste that I think is the best pairing for any sushi/sashimi dish * Woodside Roll: This was the only miss for us. It uses minced spicy tuna, which honestly ruined the texture and flavor of the fish. We prefer tasting the real meat rather than a mash :( Overall, we like everything that we order, and our bill came out at around $100 for all that we had (budget friendlyyyyy) and we were really satisfied with the sushi quality. Will we go back? Definitely! Do we recommend it to our friends? Heck yeah!

Today I was able to meet my friend here for lunch and since it was a weekday we got a table right away at noon. To our pleasant surprise there was a lunch special offered at the back of the menu. For $17 you can a item from column A then B. I went with teriyaki beef (+1) and gyoza. The lunch special came with rice, tea and miso soup. I order the yuzu drink too. Everything was so yummy! The decor is cute with many lucky cats near the entrance and around the sushi bar. Near the back there is a huge display kawaii, anime and robotech figures. I can see kids enjoying looking at them. Looks like they have a private room option that is narrow and long with many 2 seater table side by side, maybe they open it up when they get busy. They have a parking lot that can exit through the back is what my friend told me but I found street which has a 2 hour limit. I saw a car with a parking ticket so I'm guessing they do enforce it. I still would not consider this restaurant authentic, but I did enjoy the semi-Americanized Japanese food. The best deal is their lunch special bento boxes. A protein entree comes with a small maki sushi, salad, and miso soup for $17.

My first impression on Redwood City location was that it really lived up to the hype. We ordered deluxe chirashi, oh baby roll and house warm sake, more than enough to feed for 2 (and both stuffed). Deluxe chirasi was just insane. The fish quality definitely top notch, and you can taste that. It had sea urchins, hokkaido scallops, shrimp, salmon roe and 5 types of fish belly (my most favorite part of the fish). Every bite just literally melted in my mouth, and they were incredible fatty and delicious. You get what you pay for. Oh baby roll was also delicious, but luckily we tried it before the chirashi (or else it would turn into a disappointment - since the chirashi was phenomenal). It's just a basic roll, stuffed with ahi tuna and avocado topped with seared salmon, you can skip it if you want. House warm sake was a surprise. I like it more than I thought. It paired so well with the sushi. Service was fast even though they were busy. If you want high quality sushi and dont mind spending a bit more, this is the spot!

All the dishes are interesting and very flavorful, service is pretty quick as well. I've tried the Veggie Tempura and Agedashi Tofu from the bites section. Both are delicious even though these are fairly simple dishes, as expected. Tempura is oily as expected and is something which I skipped the next time to try some of the many nicer items they have to offer. It's crispy and delicious- and simple, what you'd expect from a tempura. All the vegan sushis are awesome and I especially liked their Veggie Tiger Roll and spicy veggie roll. None of the ingredients, like cream cheese overpower the flavors - everything is well balanced and each ingredient stands out uniquely on its own. Yum! It's a cute and small restaurant and they do not take reservations- only walk-ins. So I'd suggest going with some time in hand or going at an odd time. It wasn't too busy around 1:30 pm and we got a table for us pretty quickly. There's a big parking lot - so it isn't an issue there.

The restaurant was packed on a Thursday night but I was able to walk in at the bar. I got the ankimo pate from the seasonal menu and the wagyu steak and garlic rice. While waiting for my food I observed a sign of authenticity: a table of 8 Japanese businessmen, so I was pretty excited to get my food. I usually looooove ankimo and I didn't really think too much about how the mascarpone would be. I think it's too heavy/creamy and lost the liver-ness of ankimo which I really like. I understand a lot of people don't though so, different strokes for different people. Not a big fan of the mixture, and there was also water or something on the bread that made it soggy. However, the pickled onions and grapes were really good especially with the wagyu steak and garlic rice. At first glance the image of the wagyu steak is not that impressive, as it was in real life as well...BUT as I took my first bite I was taken back to the underground Kobe beef bowl hole in the wall restaurant. The beef is cut into really big pieces so in this picture it doesn't look like a lot but it was a good ratio. The rice is soft and fluffy and flavorful. Worth getting the dashi. The beef tongue was super tender and cooked perfectly. The octopus salad was fresh and well-balanced, and the hamachi carpaccio was clean, buttery, and full of flavor. Everything was phenomenal: the vibe, the flavors, and especially the portions. We were shocked by how much food came out. Their rolls are MASSIVE, double the size of rolls from other sushi places. Normally for 2 people, we'd order around 3 rolls and maybe 1-2 appetizers, but here, we ordered about the same amount, the same price and somehow ended up with enough food for like 4 people . Genuinely shocked until today (but in a good way) As for the flavors, it's pretty much exactly how you'd imagine Mexican-style sushi, smoky, bold flavors, spicy, super cheesy and super filling. And here's what we had: - Brucheta Sushi ($22.95): a must-try, signature. Everybody around us ordered this. It had steak, shrimp, cream cheese, avocado, and cucumber. A fried roll, big bites and super comforting. - Cachichurris ($19.45): the 2nd fried rolls we ordered with shrimp, octopus, cream cheese, cucumber, and avocado. Okay now it's becoming too much. I mean it's delicious, nothing's wrong, but we should just order 1 fried roll only - Salmon Roll ($22.45): the real life saver!!! Since the other rolls were fried and heavy, this fresh salmon roll really balanced thing out. - Tuna La Perrona ($22.50): basically a tuna sashimi-style dish, served with fried tortillas and pickled mango & cucumbers. The sauce was ridiculously good, I would have it again next time! - Oyster shots ($18.5): Bold!!!!! - La Gueva ($17.50): Refreshing cocktail, I love it!!!! Definitely will come back!!!!
