Absolutely loved this Thai spot! First time here because I use Yelp to find restaurants and this restaurant is "hidden" behind the Indian place (also excellent) next door. I always try my two favorite dishes anytime I try a new Thai place. The Pad See Ew was outstanding--the noodles were wide, chewy, and clearly freshly made. You could taste the wok-fired flavor in every bite, with just the right balance of soy sauce and sweetness. Almost like the sauce was glazed to each noodle. The broccoli had a perfect crunch, and the beef was tender and well-marinated. The Pad Thai was just as impressive. The noodles were springy and not overly sauced, letting the freshness of the ingredients shine. The tamarind flavor was balanced and authentic, with a subtle tang that paired beautifully with the crushed peanuts. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. There are so many ways to prepare this dish and this preparation was excellent! Highly recommend this place--these are two of the best versions of Pad See Ew and Pad Thai I've had in a long time. read more

I very rarely leave a restaurant feeling distressed, but there were a lot of issues here when we stopped by for lunch. I think one in isolation is already stressful but there were just too many in succession. The lack of cleanliness was a big issue here. We looked up and saw huge spiderwebs and cobwebs above the front door inside. That was rather gross and hinted that the restaurant may not be that thorough about cleaning. My husband was absolutely disgusted by this. Next, the serving ware was a bit dirty. My husband had this gross stain on his water cup near the lip, so he asked for another one. The waiter was about to bring over a second cup when he noticed that too was dirty so he had to go back again to get another cup. That was unsettling. The new cup was actually still dirty but at least it wasn't near the lip of the cup. The water was in those big glass bottles that you pour yourself. I noticed that the rubber top (that touches the water) had a ton of black spots. That indicates mold and/or dirt which was pretty gross. I should have asked for a new bottle but I think I was just so shell shocked from the rest of the stuff that I forgot to ask. Next, they gave my husband the wrong dish despite the two dishes not sounding alike. They quickly rectified it which was good. They also initially gave my husband miso soup and we thought it was part of his meal since we didn't order it. However when we got the bill, they charged us for the miso soup. We had to briefly argue that we didn't order it; we ate it because they gave it to us and they finally agreed to take it off the receipt. Rice is not included with curry and so that was an extra $4 which was also a bit pricey. The yellow curry portion was very large to my surprise. However this was one of the most watery Thai curries I have ever eaten and I eat a lot of Thai curries. It was too bad because I actually thought the flavor was decent though. Chicken was also a tiny bit dry. The green curry roti is not bad though. I liked the curry sauce. All in all I was just disappointed with our lunch experience and won't be back anytime soon. I'm kind of upset because I remember going to Asya (same logo, I checked!) back when they were in San Carlos and Ioved it back then. Not sure if ownership has changed or what. read more

I don't even know where to begin! We walked in half of the tables were not cleaned very unsanitary! We sat down and we waited for over 1 hour for our food to be delivered. The server seemed bothered when we were ordering he kept saying, "No! No! No!" To everything we asked for! Horrible spot!! And on top of that when we got our food, they served us the wrong items!! We devoured the rolls and chirashi bowl before I realized I didn't take a photo. We ordered takeout and had the Kaigen Special Roll, Kiss on Fire, Rainbow Roll, Tempura Roll (for toddler), Chirashi bowl, salmon nigiri and hamachi nigiri. Food was fresh and delicious. Our favorite is definitely their Kaigen special roll but all rolls tasted amazing and the quality was fantastic. We will be back to try more of what you have to offer. Thank you! read more

This about the 4th time I've come to this restaurant. They are not providing a nice portion of food, so I'm writing this review. Tonight we ordered to go: Tom Ka Kai soup- it was good. Nothing to write home about, but tasty. Seems weird that there are tomatoes in it. Pad see ew- tasty, perfect blend of flavors, nice noodle to meat ration, but only about 4 pieces of broccoli and about the same number of slivered carrots. I feel like there should be more veggies. Papaya salad- dressing/sauce tasted good, but really only papaya and no other garnishments except a large chunk of wilted lettuce filler. I cut it up at home to make sure that we had a enough salad to share since the portion was quite small. Panang chicken- this has me irritated. The sauce is a bit watery, so the flavor isn't as concentrated. I like that it's not too sweet, though. What I'm really unhappy about is that it's basically a pepper panang. The amount of chicken is minuscule. The amount is so minuscule that I had to call the restaurant to complain. Skimping on the meat seems to be quite the theme with this place since last time I ordered the shaking beef and it also lacked the fair portion of meat. Very annoying. One order of rice- it was loosely packed so I am not happy about this. For goodness sakes if you are going to skimp on portions, at least provide enough rice to fill the box. I called and spoke with either the manager or owner. I explained my disappointment and he apologized, but this is the second time that I've been compelled to actually call to complain. read more

I tried several different places that were terrible, then came upon Asya. This is VERY GOOD sushi and has good teriyaki and other great Thai food selections as well. I had one of those great nights were I just wanted to take myself out on a date and enjoy sushi. The service was soo great here it was like getting a massage. Y'know in the sense that it was soothing and calming. I watched an awards show. Why would you open a second location when the original one in San Carlos isn't doing well and hasn't for a long time? It was a warm Thursday evening when most restaurants were full of people trying to stay cool by eating out. We had the same idea, but to our surprise, this place was empty with one guy waiting for take out. My honey and I sat at the austere looking sushi bar- nothing but a white painted wall, a flat screen to the right and a guy we recognized from the San Carlos spot. It was the feeling of just moving in with nothing but the furniture in place. Because there were no other patrons present the entire time, the servers hovered behind us much of the time ready to take or serve a dish. It was a bit awkward although I'm sure they didn't intend. The sushi? I think the grocery store variety can compete. The sashimi plate is decent. Don't expect all buttery textures. It's hard to mess up miso soup. So it was like every where else. The salmon skin handroll is simply that. -just a bit of salmon, the skin and some sushi rice rolled up in seaweed. It was the most underwhelming, basic handroll I've ever had. As we were wrapping it up, the guy we recognized kindly gave us a couple sashimi creations with tobiko and green onion. This was the best part of the meal. Too bad we were finished with the bill on the way and already decided on a verdict. The stale atmosphere and lackluster sushi is nothing new. They're friendly and can get by here maybe just like their original location on Laurel St which equally leaves more to be desired. read more

These guys have stepped up their game big time. I recall this place being a 2 maybe 3 star place but now even the take-home stuff is presented in a great way that I would actually use their presentation as-is when friends are over!
