Completely walked past this small joint but not surprising as it's pretty easy to miss. Once you walk inside, you notice how narrow it is with a handful of tables all on one side. There are a couple more tables outside which were needed even on a Tuesday night. However, if you are lucky enough to live in the area you can opt for takeaway which seemed to be a popular choice as the takeaway line was constant. All good signs that this was to be an enjoyable meal.
With plenty to choose from, deciding was a slightly slow process but we ordered the medium sushi and sashimi, udon, and one of the recommended dishes - the rainbow roll. When the plates came out it was a delight for the eyes! Presentation was so on point and it was just so pretty. I don't think the photos do them any justice.
But ultimately what's important is the taste, and yes there was no disappointment in this department either. I particularly loved the sushi and sashimi plate just for how fresh everything was. Although I did find the kingfish a little hard to chew. Minor fault. Entering with a massive sushi craving, Sushi Oh-Oo did a good job at satisfying, or if you flip it around I could have been enjoying everything far too much because of my deep desire for it. Either way, happy chappy.
Udon was standard but that by no means is a negative, and was a great accompaniment to everything else. To be honest though, as much as I did enjoy the rainbow roll, not sure if it deserving to be one of two recommended dishes. I mean, it was tasty without a doubt, but I've had rainbow rolls at other places of similar quality. Perhaps it was the overpowering fried prawn in the middle, as I'm not the biggest fan of fried food. But if you are, ignore this, you'll probably love it!
What is also another HUGE plus for Sushi Oh-oo is because of their good pricing. It's not too crazy, or not crazy at all depending on how you see it, and they pump out tasty, fresh food so they definitely deserve a big thumbs up in this aspect. read more
