Fabulous sushi nestled into Norton Commons. Both indoor and outdoor seating have good options with a cozy feel! Nice service. We enjoyed everything we got and look forward to coming back!

    007 Roll

Swung by here for lunch and had a most excellent meal. I ordered the miso soup, house salad and 007 roll. The salad had a good ginger dressing and the soup was very balanced. The roll was delicious and I'll be back to try more. Service was good and the prices were very reasonable.

I think 4 is perfect for this place... it seems to be family owned and the man with glasses who is the waiter was incredibly kind and helpful... it was clean and comfortable. The sushi is good, especially for Louisville... again a solid 4... prices were very reasonable and good sake choices. Seems like most people were getting takeout and eating inside it was easy to get a seat on a Friday night.

Cant say enough good things! The sushi is so yummy, employees are so kind, and it is such a cute place. The beef Bulgogi is my favorite. Attaching sushi photos!

Sushi Master Roll & Nin Ja Roll

Went here for a date night. Both rolls were amazing. service was attentive & didn't rush on the bill. The place didn't have any wait at 6:00. Didn't get a picture of the mochi ice cream but it was delicious. Got a lot of food for a good price too!

Ordered through the yelp app, walked in and my Carryout order was on the counter and ready to go. My Vegetarian and Avocado Rolls were delicious.

    Shrimp Tempura
    Kat N.

Shrimp tempura was good. Fried correctly with tempura batter and good variety of vegetables. Too bad it gets soggy when you do takeout, but not the restaurant's fault. The sashimi was fresh and tasted good. I was only disappointed in the California roll. They just stuck a whole piece of imitation crab in there instead of putting in a crab salad for the filling. I'd come back for the sashimi and shrimp tempura

Next level food! I loved this place for many reasons the first is that my miso soup was hot and flavorful especially after a rainy day. The second is that my ramen was SPICY! Like I was holding back tears it was PERFECT! But that's because I always say I wants spicy and it's usually mild at other places also the chicken was thinly sliced and perfectly cooked! Another plus is that my niece and nephew, who are very picky eaters ate most of their food! My Brice lived her rice and ate it up she also ate most of her chicken nuggets and my nephew really enjoyed the beef teriyaki. The noodles in the yakisoba were buttery and delicious. The sushi was my not so favorite part because it tasted warm... I'm not sure of this is intentional but I am used to it being more colder except for when it's tempura. While the sauce and the dicho was yummy the fact that it was warmer felt weird but that's just me! Overall the experience, the food, and the staff was super friendly and it was incredibly delicious!

    Super Volcano Sushi
    Adityanarayan S.

I went here for lunch. It wasn't crowded at all. I looked into different sushis and other menu items they had and finally settled in for the Super Volcano sushi and the chicken curry. The Super volcano Sushi was really good. It had all the subtle flavours that you'd expect and the spicy crab was also flavourful. The chicken curry was mediocre at the best. The gravy was watered down and the chicken was a tad bit chewy. Nothing to write about. In fact, if you go here don't get the chicken curry. I am giving it 4 stars because I feel I ordered the wrong thing. It got to be around $26 for both the items. I will go hear again and try other signature sushi dishes, till then that's all I got folks!

The receptionist (manager) was patient and extremely kind. She even offered me a drink while I waited for the food to be prepared. And the interior decor makes for a relaxing environment. I went with steamed shrimp shumai, vegetable udon soup and yakisoba beef. One thing is for sure, food is served piping hot and remained hot for my ride home. Star Sushi has a unique approach to their food. The shrimp shumai, steamed, were small-almost the size of a Rolo cup. Very mild in flavor, "saved" by a sweet sauce. I'd probably order the appetizer fried next time. The udon soup had a tasty broth, but the udon noodles were exceptionally thick, the diameter of a twizzler. (What's with the candy references?). I'd have preferred a more traditional noodle. BTW, Star doesn't offer any gluten free noodle options. Surprising, because so many Asian noodles are rice based. My yakisiba beef also avoided the traditional noodles and went with the rice noodles I couldn't get with the udon soup. Flavors are "safe", no strong seasoning. And while there was a good amount of beef & veggies, some of the beef strips were a bit dry. I'm thinking I should respect the reason the restaurant is named "Star Sushi" and stick with sushi for my next order.

I've had some really good meals here and I've had some really bad meals here. As of the last year or so, the meals are more often bad than not. Especially once you factor in the price tag. I will say, our last several visits have been on a Sunday afternoon; not sure if that plays a factor in our experience or not. The some beach cocktail was awful and tasted like straight cheap coconut rum (I've had it before and it was quite good). The tempura vegetables chef feature appetizer was missing the sweet potatoes and pickled carrots advertised, the tempura breading didn't stick to the vegetables hardly at all, the broccoli pieces were so large they had to be cut up before they could be eaten, and the lotus root was way too thick. The server was oblivious about the chef's features. Made comment about it several times and was confused when I ordered some of the chef's features. If it's new, I get it, but would recommend he take a few minutes to familiarize himself. The seared spinalis I ordered cooked medium came out well done, end pieces were burnt to a crisp and tough. My wife ordered a well done New York strip that came out medium at best and the whipped potatoes were SWIMMING in butter. The potatoes may be as the Chef wanted them to be, I'm not sure, but if so, I don't know why anyone would want this. By the time you stir in all that extra butter you have very thin greasy potatoes bordering on potato soup. The server did offer to re-fire my steak and have my wife's cooked more to which we declined. I'm not a fan of doing that, especially cooking a stake more the second time because the outside becomes too done/burnt and the inside becomes dry. At this price point, she should have been offered a fresh steak in my opinion. The manager came by later and offered again, to which my Wife gave in and let her have it brought up to temp. To no one's surprise, it came back with the outside burnt to a crisp and the rest dry and tough (Even more so than well done already is. I recognize that well done steaks are tough/dry in general but she has been eating them here for years and brags about how they still manage to get it tender and juicy from her perspective). She also made mention that the herbed butter that comes with the bread wasn't very flavorful and nowhere near as good as normal and that we should have taken that as a sign. The server ended up comping my steak, which I appreciate. In all fairness, they made an effort to make it right. I feel like they could have done a bit more, especially with her steak but I'm not really upset about the service/response. It's just that the last several visits have been very sub par for the price point and from the quality I know Malones is capable of providing.
